    I like TQQQ when things are booming as you make 3x the money of xqq and when I feel the markets switching I use sqqq to short the markets and make money on the way down, then I buy the dip and sell at the highs and rinse and repeat 👍🏼👊🏼✌🏼
    These are the etf I use for my long term retirement account.
    VFV 40% s&p 500
    XAW 15% international etf
    NGPE 10% global equity etf
    VEE 15% emerging markets
    VEA 10% developed markets
    PHYS 10% sprott gold trust

      Tqqq is in usd. Horizons has one in CAD but its only 2x leverage.

      @@mahirhaque1801 I use HQU which is 2x Nasdaq 100 also but tqqq grows so fast compared that I dont mind paying the 1.5% fee for exchange when I made 30-60% on my money in a short span

      There's a lot of overlapping in this portfolio, but I guess it's fine if you see it as more exposure to those overlapping markets. 15% is also very high for emerging markets, but if you like timing the market with options and TQQQ you have a very high tolerance to risks.

    Very informative and well spoken. Although, I am not sure if I would be so tied up to so many iShares ETFs. (How about Vanguard ETFs?) Anywho, XIU, XQQ, XSP, XSMH, IEMG, and XBAL all have some merit in their own way.

      I agree. The Vanguard ETF's have lower MER's and since they are tracking the same index's one can not outperform the other. Go with lower fees.

    thoughts on veqt?

    • @iDragonHeartz
      @iDragonHeartz ปีที่แล้ว

      veqt definitely something to hold in RRSP in my opinion. VEQT / XEQT / ZEQT, 100% allocation in equities, something to consider if you plan to hold funds over long period of time, maybe 5-10 years. They differ from each other in terms of investments in US vs CAD markets, I would look them up to compare and find one which suits you better. Some like the GRO ETFs which are VGRO / XGRO / ZGRO, they are less volatile they have 80% equity + 20% bonds. It really depends on your risk factor. Hope this helps !

    As a Canadian is it better to buy hedged ETF or unhedged and why? Please and thank you for the video

    • @GabrielleTalksMoney
      @GabrielleTalksMoney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hedged means that it minimizes the impact of the ETFs performance related to FX fluctuations between CAD$ and underlying currency of ETF, which is USD$

    • @mahirhaque1801
      @mahirhaque1801 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That entirely depends if you expect which currency to appreciate versus the other. Currently I would use cad hedged because I believe usd is going down relative to cad.

    I'm new to ETF's & investing and was just wondering do you think getting a CAD Hedged NASDAQ 100 ETF is still better than just transferring CAD to USD (using Norbert's Gambit) and purchasing QQQM for example because the expense fees are much lower? Especially if it's being held in a TFSA or RRSP?
    Thanks!

    • @GabrielleTalksMoney
      @GabrielleTalksMoney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      good question! it depends on your preference and the currency you want to invest in and if the managment fees diff are worth it! Usually, the US ETFs are a few hundreds dollars, so entry point might not be as good. RRSPs dont withhold tax on dividend payments but you get taxed on any withdrawals vs tfsa withholds tax on US investments but you can pull cash tax free

    Hey Gabrielle!
    I am on the pre accounting major to be a CPA in next few years. I was talking with my prof the other day, and she told me she doesn’t really have background about investing as a profession. Do you think you need extra work from studying for CPA for being confident about investment? I’m more into investment now so I was wondering. Thanks

    • @GabrielleTalksMoney
      @GabrielleTalksMoney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Great question! Unless you are day/swing trading which may require additional qualifications to be confident, I believe you can still achieve great results via long-term passive investing by investing in solid ETFs. Anyone can achieve financial literacy by researching through books and online resources like TH-cam!

    • @_faiaz

      If you buy a US stock or an ETF that holds US stocks, you will have to pay a 15% withholding tax on dividends you earn. You can only get away from this if you hold the US stocks in an RRSP account

  • @Aubatron
    @Aubatron 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I prefer to invest in the USA over Canada. Socialist countries are great to live in, but socialism normally stagnates economies. A lot of Canada’s GDP growth is artificially inflated from brining in lots of immigrants. Even with the 15% dividend withholding tax, if you’re a long term investor with a high risk tolerance, countries with more of a free market economy tend to do better than more socialist economies like Canada’s.
    From what I’ve read too, Questrade is better if you’re buying US stocks (even though there are Canadian s&p500 etfs I think). Wealthsimple apparently charges currency conversion fees because you can’t hold USD, but Questrade you can hold USD, and there is an etf for transferring cad to usd for free.
