    For equation 1A + 2B -> C the
    rate = k[A]¹[B]², but I thought that you had to determine the reaction order experimentally. And that the stoichiometric mole ratios of the equation don't determine the reaction order. Am I right in assuming that the overall reaction order determines the molecularity?

      It's applicable to complex reactions.For elementary reactions Stoichiometric coefficients add up to give the order of the reaction.

    I thought coefficients did not determine reaction orders??

      yes u r right.
      Only for elementary reactions is true.
      in this video he assumed that all the reactions are elementary(its in the title also )

    The last one isn't correct though.. the one u didn't solve... If that's how we do it then it's going to be a ninth order reaction 😥 how man?

    Professor Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for a short and sweet Introduction into Elementary Rate Laws in AP/General Chemistry. The difference between unimolecular, bimolecular and Termolecular is simple to follow and understand, however, the final example/practice problem is problematic. This is an error free video/lecture on TH-cam TV with the Organic Chemistry Tutor.

    simply, number of molecule reacting in RDS = molecularity, isn't it?

    The last rate law would not be possible as it would be an complex reaction and not an elementary reaction

    Would be nice if the instructor taught this before assigning the problem on hmwk or test. Ever tried reading a chem book? It is all proofs, no substance. Just white noise.
