I started watching this video as a homework assignement. But it turned into a journey of discovery, moral gain, religious appreciation, and the need to continue change. God bless Martin Luther King Jr. I hope we can all see that every one of us can make this much difference in a world divided..never fear and stand up for what you believe.
Best letter I've ever read; profound, thought-provoking, and relevant. Non violence has always conquered and always will. Many of us today are like the throes of people watching gladiators bludgeon each other to death - with a never-quenching thirst for more. We seem to prefer a bloody end to a matter over the pleading, contemplating words of a peacemaker. The greatest words in the the letter are, "...I have no despair about the future."
1st of all, I wanna thank you so much for posting this video. You just dont know how helpful this video was to me... I just got an A on my 1st CRITICAL THINKING & ETHICS class. THANKS A LOT. MLK LEGACY LIVES FOREVER IN THIS VIDEO.
OUTSTANDING!!!...sharing this with anyone that will take the time to watch it...so much of it is still so relevant on this day...a few names have been changed but the theory is the same!!!
Cory this was awesome, I was just watching and started crying while studying in the library...I couldnt help myself....thank you for reminding me that we have to change!!!
The Narration of the speech is so powerful that put one view at their shoulder and witness all the sufforing they gone through, while waiting years after years for freedom from segregation. I was moved to tear at some point and quickly fix myself back together holding that tear. I'm sure If I were one of them, I'll burst out loud crying for justice. And motivated by the speech, and with other, march for that freedom they deserve! Bless America for accepting MLK's speech!
One of the greatest people to have ever lived explaining his thoughts and mind, his soul, to people who agree with him in principle. I am unaware of better insite in to the true man. His "I have a dream" speech was monumental, but pales in comparison to the depths of this. I don't like reading, but when i started to read this letter, I felt for first time the need to keep on reading. I don't know this reading does justice, read it. Let your eyes focus on the words, they are more powerful.
I am so grateful to you for this piece. I will be using it to teach students to examine King's words. I know it will be an invaluable tool for them and really bring to life an icon of history who is not well understood by young people today. Thank you so much for this outstanding performance and production.
Thanks so much for uploading! I found this while looking for a pertinent clip for my writing class, and I am absolutely impressed at the work and thought put into this clip. Would love to see it available on DVD for a classroom setting.
Why did the film maker omit this paragraph- "When I was suddenly catapulted into the leadership... behind the anesthetizing security of stained glass windows"?
@prin00cess26 right, the police and officials in power were corrupt to do so, but in the end, if they didn't then he probably wouldnt have written this wonderful, powerful, inspiring, and uplifting letter.
MLK described Birmingham as the most thoroughly segregated city in the U.S. yet a fact check will reveal it as totally false. According to city level dissimilarity index scores from every official census going back to 1940, in not a single one of them was the score in Birmingham higher than the score in Atlanta. Based on average dissimilarity index score since 1940, MLK's hometown of Atlanta has the highest score among Southern cities, so it's been the most segregated Southern city over the years, and at the moment, only Chicago is as segregated as Atlanta.
