  • Diagnosing and Fixing Adblue System Malfunctions in a Mercedes C Class
Welcome to our channel, where we delve into the world of automotive diagnostics and repairs! Today, we've got a Mercedes C Class that traveled around 90 miles to reach us, presenting with an Adblue system malfunction. In this video, we'll explore the reasons behind Adblue system failures, particularly focusing on the four fault codes we encountered:
P13E400: The remaining driving distance is limited due to a malfunction in the Adblue(R) system.
P13F600: The engine cannot be started because the exhaust after-treatment system has tampered with.
P140300: The control unit Adblue(R) has a malfunction.
P204F96: The Adblue(R) system (cylinder bank 1) has a malfunction. There is an internal component fault.
Upon inspecting the Adblue injector, we discovered blockages caused by Adblue crystallization. After cleaning and attempting to reset the fault codes, we found that the reset wasn't successful. Suspecting a software issue, we proceeded with a software update. Post-update, the vehicle began measuring Adblue levels correctly.
Furthermore, we noticed high pressure in the diesel particulate filter (DPF) and decided to clean it using a chemical method. If you're interested in the DPF cleaning process, check out our other video dedicated to that topic.
After a thorough road test to ensure everything was in working order, we prepared to return the vehicle to its owner with confidence. We hope this video sheds light on Adblue system malfunctions and their resolution. Thank you for watching, and don't forget to subscribe for more automotive content!

Hi Charlie, I have an e250 and I have a code P2048. I checked my injector and the resistance was at 7-8 ohms. Is this normal or should I replace it. Also do I need to bring to a dealer to reset the number of starts left

    • @sanumotorswithcharlie
      @sanumotorswithcharlie  หลายเดือนก่อน

Hi there! For the P2048 code, which typically relates to a problem with the reductant injector circuit, checking the resistance is a good step. A resistance reading of 7-8 ohms for the injector is generally within the normal range. However, if you're still experiencing issues, it might be worth considering other factors like wiring or connectors that might be faulty.
As for resetting the number of starts left, it's often necessary to bring your vehicle to a dealer or a specialized mechanic. They have the appropriate tools and software to reset the system and clear any stored codes properly.
If the issue persists, it’s best to consult with a professional to ensure there aren't other underlying problems. I hope this helps!

Goood work charly can you have any advice for me please i change the nox sensor and the fault code delete but i have the fault code p13f600 still there so the car can’t start after 234mil , and the sensor of the level of adblue is working it’s giving 7080mile , the fault code p13f600 didn’t remove because of the air conditioner was working no ?

Thank you for your message! I'm glad to help. Here are a few suggestions based on your situation:
      1. **Fault Code P13F600**: This code typically relates to an issue with the emissions control system, often involving the AdBlue system. Since you've already changed the NOx sensor and confirmed the AdBlue level sensor is working, there might be other factors at play.
      2. **Air Conditioner Impact**: It's unlikely that the air conditioner being on would directly cause the fault code to remain. However, it’s important to ensure all systems are properly checked when diagnosing issues.
      3. **Check for Software Updates**: Sometimes, a software update to the vehicle's control unit can help resolve persistent fault codes.
      4. **Inspect Wiring and Connectors**: Faulty or corroded wiring and connectors can sometimes cause issues. Make sure to inspect these components thoroughly.
      5. **Consult a Specialist**: Given that the car can't start and the fault code remains, it might be best to consult a specialist who has the right diagnostic tools to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem.
Clearing persistent fault codes can sometimes be tricky, but a professional should be able to help you get to the bottom of it. I hope this helps, and good luck with your car!
      Thank You

Hi Charly how can I do the software update I have same issue with my car

Hey there! It's important to keep your car's software up to date to ensure optimal performance and address any potential issues. Here's a general guide on how to update the software in your Mercedes C-Class:
Check for Updates: Start by checking if there are any available software updates for your car. You can do this by visiting the official Mercedes-Benz website or contacting your nearest Mercedes-Benz dealership. They will be able to provide you with information on available updates and whether they are applicable to your specific model and year.
Schedule an Appointment: Once you've confirmed that there are updates available, schedule an appointment with your dealership or authorized service center. They will have the necessary tools and expertise to perform the software update safely and accurately.
Visit the Dealership: On the scheduled date, take your car to the dealership or service center for the software update. The process usually involves connecting your car to a diagnostic computer, which will then download and install the latest software updates from Mercedes-Benz servers.
Testing: After the update is complete, the technician will typically perform some tests to ensure that the software has been installed correctly and that all systems are functioning properly.
Feedback and Follow-Up: If you continue to experience issues after the update, provide feedback to the dealership or service center. They may need to further investigate or perform additional updates to address any lingering issues.
It's important to note that software updates for cars can vary depending on the model, year, and region, so it's best to consult with your dealership for specific instructions and guidance tailored to your Mercedes C-Class.

How did you update the software Just from the OBD?

    • @sanumotorswithcharlie
      @sanumotorswithcharlie  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Updating software via the OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) port is a common method used by automotive manufacturers to deliver software updates to vehicles. Here's a general overview of how it typically works:
Preparation: The vehicle manufacturer releases a software update to address various issues, improve performance, or add new features to the vehicle's electronic control units (ECUs).
Distribution: The software update is distributed to authorized service centers or dealerships. Sometimes, updates can also be distributed directly to vehicle owners through online portals or over-the-air (OTA) updates if the vehicle supports it.
Connection: To install the update, a technician connects a diagnostic tool or programming device to the vehicle's OBD port. This port allows access to the vehicle's internal systems and ECUs.
Authorization: Depending on the manufacturer's protocols, the technician may need to authenticate the software update using a secure code or authorization process provided by the manufacturer.
Installation: The diagnostic tool communicates with the vehicle's ECUs and uploads the new software. This process typically involves flashing the ECUs with the updated firmware or software.
Verification: Once the update is installed, the diagnostic tool may perform a verification process to ensure that the update was successful and that all systems are functioning properly.
Documentation: The service center or technician may record the details of the update, including the version number and any relevant information, in the vehicle's service history.
Completion: After the update is successfully installed and verified, the technician disconnects the diagnostic tool, and the vehicle is ready for use.
Overall, updating software via the OBD port allows manufacturers to efficiently deliver improvements to vehicles without requiring extensive hardware modifications or manual intervention. However, it's crucial to ensure that updates are performed by authorized technicians to maintain the integrity and security of the vehicle's systems.
