That song hits home with me because as a service member you actually experience this all the time. You leave your buddies you grew up with to go make something out of yourself and it hurts not seeing them as much, and then you make damn good friends in the military and they PCS (change duty station) or ETS (get out) and you occasionally talk but it’s not the same.
