  • WINTER STORM CAMPING w/ a DIESEL Heater. I spent a night solo winter camping in my 4runner during a snow storm. The temperature got down to 7F (or -13C) degrees windchill and the snow just kept falling.
    The gear I used:
    The Sleeping Bag: amzn.to/3GxT7yo
    The Heater: amzn.to/3onz2EA
    The Axe: amzn.to/3ujq9jc
    The Power: amzn.to/3L4wo0l
    The Tent: gofastcampers.com/

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Solo camping just means that you basically have to do everything by yourself which doesn’t sound that bad but you will realize quickly you’re on your own cooking, cleaning, setting everything up, breaking it down. Secondly in my case I make sure to always keep a remote hole punching device (aka fire @rm) on me at all times in case bears or something larger than you comes up. And lastly is it’s not as fun. You don’t have that time sitting around the fires with the buddies. I will say I like both. Sometimes with work and trying to grow a TH-cam channel I just need to get out there and have time to think on my own.

    Hey, looks like you are running spacers on your 4runner. Do they ever give you worries? I've seen horror stories of the bolts shearing (even the nicer made ones). What are your thoughts? I love the way they make the car look but I can't get over the "what if"

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually don’t have spacers anymore. I have run spacers before for two years at a time, moderate to heavy wheeling with them. Did top of the world in Moab with spacers and they were fine. Sold them to a buddy and he’s been running them ever since. My wheels are wide and have a -38 offset now so I don’t need spacers.

    This is my first video of yours. Throughout the years, the overlanding community here on TH-cam has exploded!!! And everyone whom has a 4runner or Tacoma (Toyota/Lexus) product, has an overlanding channel. With that being said, this channel seems very minimalist, in nature. Then again, this is ONLY my first video.. I'm going to subscribe and go check out the previous videos, in order to catch up.

    Doesn't your diesel heater controller have a built-in Thermostat? If so, shouldn't you have it in the RTT with you to control the RTT temp? If not, how does your heater regulate what temperature to maintain? Or does your simply run max power all night long? I have a similar heater (the version with the fuel tank on the side), and I extended the wiring on the controller so that I can bring it in the RTT, then set a comfortable temperature, and the heater does a good job maintaining that throughout the night. It's more efficient too, as the heater goes on low power mode once the desired temp has been reached, and will only kick back to high when maintaining the heat.

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some of them say they have temperature controls but they don’t really work like that. The settings it has are just power settings and timer settings.

Lift is a bit of a hodgepodge at this point but it went from mostly icon to mostly bilstein set up but with SPC upper control arms, highly recommended the uppers. Tire size in this video was 285/70/17 but the reason the bumper was in the trunk was because I was switching up the bumper so I could run 305/70/17s which I am currently running.
