  • For 22 years, the sounds dominating Kismayu were gunfire, warplanes and the wailing of the dying and the mourning. The Somali city was a theater of deadly battles for the control of its lucrative port trade since the ouster of President Mohammed Siad Barre in 1991. But the Kenya Defence Forces expedition to Somali has routed the Al Shabaab militia from Kismayu and breathed life to the once dying city. Judy Kosgei reports on this transformation in our first part of "Somalia's kiss of life" series.

Kenyan TV, do you know the map of Somalia you used at 0:42 stands for "Greater Somalia" which include Ogaden -occupied by Ethiopia- and NFD occupied by Kenya.

So we can keep on killing ourselves? common I would like to see them remain in Somalia until we return to normal and functioning state. It is their business too given the risk to their countries..

+Abdul Ali They're the ones that invented al shabaab and instead they should just find the Somali army. And look at puntland they didn't have any help and dealt with al shabaab themselves.
