Matthew, you're doing an amazing job. I can't understand all the people who are saying that's not how you do it, etc. Why are they even watching if they know better? You just keep up the good work! 👍🏼

To me the blender makes it look grainy. Nothing beats using the lorha and sil (or, masala brick) to achieve that traditional texture for coconut chokha.

outragedlyrics It is true. Using the lorha and sil gives it a totally different texture. Sadly I don't have one though or else I would've used it. I might do a redo with my grandmother because I know she has one.

Matthew's Guyanese Cooking definitely try the lorha and sil also if you add tamarind into the chokha it gives it a great taste! Keep up the great job btw!

outragedlyrics Wow! I have never heard of the tamarind that's interesting. Definitely gonna try the lorha and sil, just gotta find one first.

Hi Matthew, love your videos. Well organized and explained. Just to let you know, I roast my coconut in the oven and I grind it in the food processor like you did. I also use pink himalayan salt in all my cooking, which is healthier - you can Google it to find out the benefits.
Keep up the awesome recipes, God's blessings always.😊😊😊

Thank you so much! I haven't experimented with using my oven, but glad to know it works for choka. Also will look into the salt

That's not how to make it. You have to grind it on masala brick until it's a paste texture. You have to grind it with tamarind half hour to achieve this
