Another easy way to beat Lusca is to stay on your raft, and every time you throw a spear at him, immediately walk off the raft into the water. 95% of the time his tentacle attack will miss you. As soon as you're in the water, turn around, climb back on the raft and so on. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Hey grandaddy. Got a new tip/exploit that I just found out. If you throw your spear into the floor of your raft, it will stay there until you pick it up. And it does not weigh down your raft.
I found the best way to kill Lusca, is to go to the bottom of the chain when it moves with (air tank & breath coconut) plenty of spears. and slowly move up the chain till it's about 10 feet circling above you & kill it , coz i do'nt think it attacks down... try it....
When I fight him I just swim lower then the chain to the marker. Take a breath boost and air tanks. Swim low he won't go deep to attack you. He will swim around the chain up above and just do all the damage you can throwing spears or shooting him with spear gun. He will die really easy, and you won't lose health if you get below him first.
you're a lifesaver for this! I'm so bad at combat but still wanted to complete this game. With this strategy, I was able to take down the squid on the first try (on easy)
PS4, you can still use the buoy to not get hit, but I'm sure that will be patched soon, cause PC and Xbox already have been fixed. For any PS4/5 users. :)
I doubt they will fix this, consoles didn’t even get the 1.14 update which added piles. These could fix so many memory and game crash issues the console version suffers from, I’m really suprised consoles didn’t get this update too..
Yeah the spears do more damage then the arrows, however the arrows are much cheaper and easier to craft (no leather and stone) and you can carry 6(!!!!!!) times more of those. Only downside is the fight will take a little longer.
Leather is easy to come by, found on shipwrecks all over. Found so much I made enough spears to fight all the bosses and didn't even have to make my own leather. You cut the fight time at least in half using refined spears. If you kill Abaia when he is over the ship deck, all your spears will fall on the boat and easy retrieval. Lost only 1 or 2 spears fighting Abaia.
Swim down to where lusca leaves chain , stay there and lusca will swim above you and not attack (Breath boost & air tank a must) Makes for the easiest kill of all

As has already been commented, just swim down to the bottom of the chain, hang out and hit hi with spears. Breath boost and air tanks, so no need to come up for air. You should kill him with no damage taken.

Truth. I always roll with 15 spears in my boat without an issue.
It doesn’t work for me. A lot of times it’ll disappear and I can never get them back

Only thing you forgot to do is recover as many of your spears you used because when lusca disappeared you lost all them spears.

When I fought the Megalodon I used a raft canopy and he didn't jump at me. I haven't tried with the other bosses though

Side note, your spear will break if you try to throw it on the metal sheeting.
