Yep..Lawless' matchmaking was terrible..Bruno also had another tough 10 round encounter with Carl Williams in his next fight..to borrow Lennox Lewis's language, Bruno showed he could dissect an opponent..
Defensive skills are taught. Frank never had the great coaching the US fighters always had. His chin was ok - he just didnt know what to do when he got tagged by the better HWs.
I loved Bruno's side-to-side movement and used his jab most effectively. Bruno boxed making good use of the entire ring. I do think his biggest drawback was he was too muscle-bound that restricted his punching.
& the fight w/ George Foreman took place only 3 months after this! Coetzer's people really put him through the meat grinder. Seems foolish, as he may have had the potential to be a profitable fighter for a much longer period.
Nah the final straw for the south african was a final drubbing from Mr Foreman- in around the same number of rounds as Bruno and Bowe- i guess he knew his limits by then
Pierr Coetzee was too much of a gentleman and clean fighter in a fight where the referee allowed so many fouls, elbows, holding and hitting, etc.
Bruno fouled numerous times each round. He should have been disqualified.
😅
Bruno would've benefited immensely if he'd had this kind of fight earlier in his career.

Tim Witherspoon interestingly said if Bruno had a different trainer in 1986 he would have beaten him..!

I also think his inside work (from the Witherspoon fight of 1986) was so much better..
Bruno was lucky he was in his home town. Coetzer was the better man in this fight!!!
R.I.P Harry Carpenter.
Loved watching him presenting sportsnight.
I hadn’t realised that this fight took place only 3 months after Coetzer’s loss to Bowe. I really hope Pierre got paid well to come to Wembley.

It's interesting b/c Coetzer's predecessor Gerrie Coetzee was given a much greater amount of 'nursing' towards a world title.
Seems that way
Bruno, such a dirty fighter. I find it unwatchable how much he was allowed to get away with. Blatant, continual rabbit punching
Franko needed this type of dingdong at this stage, not spectacular but a good win
I think that was the last time Harry carpenter worked on franks fights. Coetzer was tough
Yep, one of Brunos best wins, i remember Frank saying that apart from Macal, this guy had the best chin out there...
I'll give this fight to Pierre Coetzee here whas better
always preferred Reg Gutteridge to Harry Carpenter..
I preferred Harry myself. I thought he was the better commentator. That’s only my opinion though. 👍👍
At this time Frank would really have benefited going over to use an American trainer..
Bowe finished Coetzer.

Pierre beat him out and out
Poor ref Pierre beat him easy
Bruno lucky u were lucky u did not beat pierre
Bruno did not feel coetzers punching power n the s a feel the heat of brits
Rabbit Punching the Whole fight!
Bruno fought like a true black brit. Clubbing behind the head then looping around to the back of the head.
hes also clearly on steroids
@@yellowhouseproductions2959 wow. That's racist.
I'd loved to have seen a Foreman/Bruno fight
Brono was such a dirty boxer...
and a steroid user
