They have been here a few days now and seem to have settled right in. I'm looking forward to bringing you much more content about them and appreciate any help and advice. Thanks for watching, please remember to subscribe, like and comment it really helps the channel.

I've never kept chickens but I do subscribe to Mags. Of My garden and the dinosaurs that live there. I don't know if you watch her channel but she keeps chickens and quail and is very experienced, I'm sure she will be happy to offer any advice. Also Jessie at plot 37 keeps chickens, I'm sure she will also be happy to offer advice.
I'll check them out thanks 👍
Hi Duncan great job mate try to keep the feed off the ground that helps with rats and mice
You should have some great compost we had chickens and used all the bedding on our allotment 👍🥔🌱
@@robertmeakings9774 hi mate yes that is something I am going to do we have been bringing the feeders in at night
Very cool Duncan and woo hoo chicken poop 💩 compost. We wouldn’t keep chickens as we have coyotes around here plus we like to go away and I would worry about them. But I bet Bobbie is a big fan and will love them. Have a super week, Ali 🥶🌞☔️🇨🇦
Thanks Alison haha that's the main reason I wanted them lol Bobbi is in his eliment with them straight in there as soon as he gets home from school lol
What a cracking job you’ve done there, proper chicken palace, don’t know much about chickens, but maybe put some sort of auto shut mechanism on the 2 exterior doors, just a in case you forget to shut them. Soon be having fresh eggs for breakfast. 🍳👍
Thanks Pete mate I have been 🤔 NG about something like that would be handy for when we are away
Duncan the chickens are great ,must be good fun for your children, i have no advice about chickens other than i like them roasted .Looking forward to see how they get on ,you may end up having omelettes regularly mate🤣
Ye haha that's how j like them to lol, Bobbi loves them bless him he loves his animals, hopefully I'll have a abundance of them soon great excuse to bake some cakes haha
Keep a eye on the cockerel as they get protective of the hens and will attack you and try stab you with their spurs wich can grow to 3 inch long be carefull of your son going by it mate
I a don't worry I don't trust them buggers lol he seems to be OK at the moment but if he gets aggressive in any way he can go back where he came from or in the oven lol
Hi Duncan. Fun having chickens. Can you put a clear roof above the run? Keeps things drier. I'd raise the feed and water up. Have fun 👍👍
@@allotmentjoy thanks yes I do eventually intend on putting the clear corrugated sheets on it once I can afford some that is
I keep thinking about building a coop. I think I’m going to just do it 😁
@@TheChiliPreppergo for it, it wil be better than one you'll buy
You have made a good job of the hen house and run, 1 thing i do know Duncan is that you have ( by law ) register your hens / chickens. I have a few friends who keep them. If you need any advice you could maybe message Jamie at Jamie`s allotment garden he has quite a few. Nice to see Bobbi isnt bothered about them and certainly not afraid of them
Nice one mate, yes I have heard it's law now they wil be done ddo don't worry. Nice one I'll check his channel out. He loves them bless him getting him out the bloody pen is the hard bit now lol
@@CoastalGardensNW Yeah Bobbi certainly looks very comfortable with them mate
@@Jimmy.Plot.41.b it wil be good for him as he is growing up too
@@CoastalGardensNW fantastic mate
Hi Duncan we had chickens yesrs ago and the compost made from the poop and bedding was like rocket fuel!!! I reckon in a years time when you get your first batch itll grow even bigger veggies. Smear vaseline on their legs to stop mites crawling up them and keeps them warmer in winter. You could use wood chips mixed with bio char on the ground, the bio char stops the smell and gets charged up at the same time 😁👍 Make sure foxes can't dig their way in too.
Hi nick mate thanks its definatly going to make a difference to my compost 🤞 for some more giants next year haha, nice one I didn't know about the vaseline ddo I have been putting garlic in the water to help prevent mites, I'm waiting on a delivery of woodchips once I get that I was going to cover half the run in them again didn't know about the Bio chat ddo thanks mate really appreciate it
And I don't think any foxes wil get in the ground there is solid it's mainly shale rock there
@@CoastalGardensNW I grew some decent plants, herbs mainly 😁👌
@@nickthegardener.1120 haha ye they love it
@@CoastalGardensNW you have to register your chickens now too😕, I think it costs £3 per bird and you get a month to tell them otherwise they can fine upto £1000, which is shocking in my opinion.😕👍
Hope they are all OK today after being traumatised by my lot 🙈🙈 I didn't even get any toms because they were being so crazy 🙈
@@roxieevans1953 they are all fine lol
