I was sad to lose such a dope character so early on but him committing to this kind of death at his age all for his beliefs was truly an epic moment! Great episode
I believe another problem with recanting was that all the materials he had from Hubert, all of his revisions, he'd have to burn them all. He might be a genius, but materials that Hubert collected and wrote contained observations from his whole life. Rafal might be better at reasoning stuff out, but he'd still have to wait for the planets and stars to change their positions, and it'd take years and years to get it all done to the level of that stone crate's materials. All of this with the Church now watching him, there's a very good chance he'd be caught before he can complete it. I think he decided not to risk it all, and chose to pass on the materials, his inspiration, everything to the future where someone completes his work for him. It's obviously not just this simple, a large part of it was just how deeply he was moved and believed in heliocentrism, to the point where a guy who could easily lie about trivial things chose not to do so even at the cost of his own life. However, I do think it was a part of the reason. This show is so so underrated, it's crazy that most reactors and viewers are not even watching it.
Absolute cinema, so glad the story took this direction since it’s clear the protagonist really is the ‘truth’ and we just are following people pursuing it
Potocki is voiced by Koichi Makishima who also voices Jean-Pierre (Code Lyoko), Quarry (Generator Rex), Minoru (Kuromukuro), Teabolo (Gundam), Mitsutoshi (Ryoko’s Case File), & a few more
I was waiting for your reaction on this hauntig episode ;) In this show we can forget all the stupid tropes, the MC shield... This show is scarry ! I have PTSD any time I see Nowak... A show is good when you can watch it several times and enjoy to see all the details, forshadowing. I shiver in episode 2 when Rafal burns his mentors research material and we see the two of them in the flammes... On rewatch, you notice how much the show insists on showing us hands, flammes...
Rafal choose to die because this way someone else could continue his research. The thing with recanting is that ok he can continue later on the side without being caught but first he’d have to destroy all his research materials so it means starting over from scratch when part of it wasn’t even his analysis but Hubert’s. It was a hard choice but definitely the best one for the truth…
This episode made this anime go from an 8 to 10/10.
the prison cell scene was just so beautifully directed, and the especially dialogue... was just *chef's kiss*
Rafał truly was the GOAT [*]
"Life is long if you know how to use it."
The dialogue in this show is top tier

The night sky was the most beautiful to him when he viewed it from inside a tiny cell, through a small window...
CHINEMA
Rafal didn't say "Bye now" he said "See you again"

5:43 fun fact, the word that was written on the paper here is "Ziemia", which means "Earth" in Polish

This episode was awesome. So many packed lessons and payoffs for things said earlier. Next episodes will be interesting

When the "MC" doesn’t have plot armor 😅

That was the best episode but I would like to keep him as the MC for some more time. He was the most interesting character for me
The translated text show that word as "truth," but in the original Japanese it is expressed as "intelligence (知性)."
This episode is what called an epic...😢
Ngl. I would've folded and recant my statements too. Just to avoid death.
The truth will prevail ❤
CHI
One truth will prevail
respects to rafal
