    Glad I applied a bit of Arthur Tussik and repaired my chassis rails. Drilled the spot welds, hammered them all true again, welded them back on. Near 60 quid each from Heritage and they aren't even the same as the originals.

    This was the first of your videos I've seen...It's nice to see how many parts are available for the Mk1 Golf. The ones I see in the US are pretty well trashed...makes me want to save a couple! lol I'll have to go back to the first video and start over. You got a new subscriber.

      Thank you for watching! So many parts are available for them! You could pretty much build a shell from scratch! Thank you for subscribing.

    Hi Dan. It's all your fault! After watching your videos about the VW Transporter and being inspired to have a go myself, I finally got my van and enjoying the process of changing it to my own specification. Cheers buddy.

    Hi Dan hope you read all your comments, please try some pu sealer on that aerosol primer , do a test piece , as some sealers don’t stick to weld through primer , I found this out the hard way , upol tiger sealer peeled off some upol zinc weld through primer . You’ve done a great job of rebuilding the shell . 👍🏻

    • @DanChambersDAC
      @DanChambersDAC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers for the tip bud. I am planning on stripping the primer on as many area's as I can to be able to apply a good primer anyway.

    Water will get into those chassis rails one way or another, best to let it find an easy way out

  • @maverick4177
    @maverick4177 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Think the chassis rails with the OE holes in will prevent moisture better, even if it’s full of wax, if it’s also full of moisture it will rot something out
    Just my thoughts on it

    • @DanChambersDAC
      @DanChambersDAC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok Cheers. I was thinking if it was all sealed ETC moisture couldn't get in there🤷‍♂️

    • @maverick4177
      @maverick4177 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DanChambersDAC anything underneath is going to get moisture in it mate, it’s why they had the drain holes, just let’s moisture escape and the wax to do it’s job 👍🏻
