Someone asked how I recorded this - this is how:
USB cardioid mic into Ableton, track muted; circuit into iRig Pro into Ableton, track soloed but very low volume so I can just hear it enough to sing with but there's not much bleed into the mic and I can mix them separately. I'm mostly using visual feedback from the Circuit to sing to. I hate performing with headphones enough that I'd rather do it like this even though I know it's a stupid setup.

Hi everyone. Sorry for the gap in videos. I am going to do an explanation/songwriting tutorial for Break as soon as I possibly can. Everything has got a little overwhelming since I am dealing with getting my album made, teaching a university course, and a health issue on top of my PhD. What a wonderful song with just a Novation Circuit and a beautiful voice. Love seeing a Critter & Guitari Pocket Piano on your desk, too. I like using large expensive synthesizers, plus small economical devices. You do such a great job with that Circuit. I posted this video on the Novation Circuit Users group page on Facebook. Keep up the great work. Your voice is....DREAMY PURE. Possibly the best female voice in music today ~ !!!!!!

So happy I found this...I purchased a novation a month ago and kept coming across jam and "exploration" sessions only using the novation, really no songs with voice, I was thinking I made a mistake purchasing it, but now I'm feeling better!
Ah I'm so glad! I am definitely a planner not a jammer, I don't know why there aren't more of us using it. It's definitely limited as a songwriting tool but if you write in a remotely loop-based way it's a great creative tool. I hope you put some of the things you make with it on TH-cam, I just followed you, your stuff is amazing!
Deerful thank you for listening to my music ☺️ I needed a live set that was less bulky and easily transportable, before, I had a computer with abelton, 61 keys keyboard, kp3, interface, it was too much! I got the novation hoping to use it for all those things in one, that and a rc-505 vocal looper (which I love). Look forward to hearing more from you, really dig your music!
Oh I know that feeling! I have a rule that my whole live setup has to fit in a backpack now and I recommend it. ;) I use an Electribe live right now because the 8-bar patterns on the Circuit weren't quite enough, but the Circuit is nicer to play, I hope you get lots of use out of it. Also I really want a vocal looper! ONE DAY. Would love to hear what you sound like live :)

Glad to see a full song on the Novation Circuit instead of bleep bloop minimal techno stuff. What is processing your voice in Ableton? I hear harmonies during the chorus.
edthewave harmonies were overdubbed. I recorded the lead vocal and the backing into Ableton in one go while shooting the video in Quicktime (see video description), overdubbed harmonies, added a bit of reverb and compression to everything, exported and synced the video and audio. I dunno if this is a normal way of doing it but it's how I always do it, I just record everything dry and add effects afterwards.

Lovely! Great Job! Are you enjoying the Circuit? Got one back in the spring. Been testing out the new features in firmware update 1.4. I've working with midi-syncing it to traktor and using it as an instrument deck so I can do live improv while mixing stem tracks.
