He's hated less than he thinks, there's always a few arseholes at the darts and the mob mentality takes over I think he says some really wanky things when he loses sometimes but he's passionate and amazing to watch
I never had an issue with him I liked the fact he was quite health conscious and into training as well as darts and not just succumb to the usual jabba the hut body type like a lot of darts players

Gezzy has been my favourite player since I really took a liking to darts in late ‘18 and now I just like him even more. He’s such a wonderful guy and hopefully the crowds tone down the booing because it’s beyond ridiculous now. Happy birthday to Gezzy too 🥳😇🙌🏻

I think a big point in this was the fact that when he spoke about his bust up with Anderson, the host said, he’s a bit fiesty as well isn’t he? It would have been easy and safer for price to just say yeh he is, but he actually defended Gary Anderson and said no, he’s not, he’s actually very chilled and not fiesty at all. I’ll also say, he mentioned that Gary started that by pushing him up the oche, but price made contact with Gary, that’s why Gary pushed him. I’m Scottish and have a Welsh wife and have lived in wales now for 17 years, and in price and Clayton, wales has two cracking players to be proud of!

For me, it’s more the fact that he’s unsportsmanlike in victory. I don’t usually judge people too much on their behaviour when they’ve lost, as that’s a difficult situation. His celebrations and reactions on stage are over the top and disrespectful.
I met Gerwyn in 2020 just before lockdown when i was working in Nottingham and he was playing there we were in the same hotel, we were in the lift together and briefly spoke and I recognised him right away and we spoke for like a minute or two and i will be honest from my small knowledge of darts I had an assumption he was the arsehole of darts, but honestly he was very friendly, we had a brief laugh and i left that thinking how stupid I was for buying into this persona or public view of him. Gezzy for me is great for the sport, bit of needle, bit of pomp, gives it large when he needs to, I do think he gets carried away at times, but considering the game is getting more and more like that and it seems only certain players get booed for it, it's ridiculous the amount of hate The Iceman gets
It wasn’t just the Gary Anderson final. Gezzy was over celebrating all the time and refused to shake hands with opponents when he lost. He brought it on himself
People only “hate” Gerwyn in the context of the darts world, because he’s not someone who embraces the ridiculous crowds like Peter Wright, because he screams every time he hits a 180 it comes across as very ‘jock-like’ which people don’t like in darts. People go to darts for the fun time, seeing people take it very seriously like Gerwyn kinda bums them out, but I don’t think many people actually hate him for it. It’s perfectly understandable that for him to be at the top of his game that’s what he needs to do, and I think people respect that outside of darts and see him as a gentleman outside of it, but within the world of darts they want the out there over the top characters and Gerwyn just isn’t that.
Love Gerwyn.. no bias being a Welshman myself but he's exciting. Listening to these interviews makes you realise Darts has THE best down to earth lads, and its as simple as that.. Dart is a gentleman's game and I fuckin love it.

I think its near impossible to be a top level sportsman without having some showmanship and arrogance, unfortunately for Gerwyn due to his sheer ability to take the jeers from the crowd on the chin, he's received more than most. But hes clearly a lovely genuine bloke and you simply have to respect him if you're any sort of darts fan regardless of loyalties.

I was thrown out of Ally Pally for supporting Gezzy at that Michael Smith game. It was disgusting to see the abuse that he got. When we gave it back to them, we were the ones thrown out, not the people abusing us. How he puts up with it I don’t know, fair play to Gezzy for doing his best to block it out.
