here in Hawaii we had 36" of rain in 24 hours, a few years back...

Kauai holds the record for the most rain fall in one year (almost 700") and is in the top five for the most rain in one day. Hawaii's volcanic soil composition and it's subsequent sloping mountain topography is better equipped to handle a deluge of rainfall, more so than anywhere in California. That being said, the town of Honeydew in Humboldt County, California holds the record for the most precipitation in one year within the contiguous United States. Though, nowhere near Kauai's record. To answer your question, we Californians will survive. We are resilient and resourceful.

When the adultery of Camilla took place, ALL of us knew brim stones will fly across UK once the two Royal sons grow up to be young lads as they grew up in A Very Toxic Environment. There was never a day Diana stopped crying with these two sons hugging their very young mother & wiping away her tears. This has really affected Harry as he was just 3 years old when reality strikes the Wales family then. POOR Diana, she was left to herself & the boys for the next 10 years till the days she died & walked behind their mother's coffin. Camilla was truly heartless. This have left an indelible mark in Harry's life, he was a toddler mind you

What I don't hear people mentioning about climate change effecting the weather is, the oceans aren't rising because of icebergs melting, but because the water is warmer. When water--or any matter--gets warmer, it expands. More than three quarters of the planet is covered in water. Then it evaporates more and faster causing not only more moisture in the air, but it effects the barometric pressure--basically how much the air weighs--and that causes more storms.
On the positive side, when I first moved to LA, the smell of homeless people--and pot smoke, which is the official odor of LA--was overpowering. I have since gotten used to it, but our town could use a good rinse and spin.
Except for water: water shrinks when warm, and expands when coolled. It's called H2O anomaly,
as, I'm sure, you learned in school. (that's why pipes break when extreme low temp. sets in) So you're mistaken.

Water, uniquely, expands as it freezes, but that doesn't mean it defies the laws of physics as it warms up.
Water achieves maximum density at at 2 or 3 degrees celsius. Anything above that, it expands like anything else.
Pipes break when they freeze, because water expands upon freezing. The metal also becomes brittle. Cold water is denser than hot water.
If water became less dense as it cools, ice wouldn't float.
Don't make up physics in your head. Internet people will accept errors as gospel. Then everyone will blow it up. Water expands as it freezes.

I think these storms are a planetary effort to refill the water that was just not existent this past summer. It was really and florally deadly. And an over saturated land is a lot harder to go fully ablaze.
