I was able to visit Bateman's on October 26th, 2022 and it was such a beautiful experience. It was my first trip to the UK and my first full day in the UK. Since I'm a Kipling fan, I'm so glad I took the effort to take an Uber from Gatwick to Bateman's (not cheap) but it was such a memorable visit. This video helped me to relive my experience. THANK YOU from Idaho, USA.

      Robert,
That is lovely to hear. Bateman's is a lovely place, and our National Trust do a fabulous job of making more about a nice home, it really has the feel of Rudyard Kipling's home.
We're glad you enjoyed your visit, and we have helped a little bit in refreshing that memory.
Sending our best wishes to you in Idaho,
      Take care and safe travels,
      Gary & Janis

Your videos are always gems, a very welcome relief from the hustle and bustle of today's society. I've watched a lot of them so far as they tend to install an atmosphere of calm whenever I watch one. You both are way up there head and shoulders above anything I've seen as far as travel videos go. This one in particular held a very welcome surprise when you started rendering the poem "If", which has always been among my favourites. I've heard it read by many people, including such people as Sir Michael Caine, Tom O'bedlam, Robert Morley, Dennis Hopper (twice), Harvey Keitel and many more. Your rendering is without a doubt among the best I've heard. Thank you for that! I sincerely hope i get to visit this place some day. Have a wonderful day.

      Luc,
Thank you so much, you are very kind. I'm not sure if my rendition outshines those you mentioned, but I'm glad you enjoyed it.
A visit to a National Trust property is usually a very calming experience, and when I come to edit & narrate my videos, I think that comes across, plus, in life, I try to remain calm, the world's a little easier place then.
Thanks again for your kind words,
      All the best,
      Gary & Janis

Rudyard kipling is a fascinating person! I especially love the jungle book. I also watched a movie called My Boy Jack which was very heartbreaking. I know Rudyard Kipling was said to have controversial views, but he was human and I still find him fascinating! I would LOVE to visit Bateman's someday!

Absolutely, some aspects of his beliefs are not compatible with today's world, but maybe he wouldn't have held them today; who knows?
However, by capturing his life at Batemans, the National Trust has created a beautiful place to visit. Hopefully, you will get there one day,
      All the best,
      Gary & Janis

Another of your finely crafted tours, beautifully filmed and narrated. As with many of these wonderfully maintained National Trust properties, there is a great deal to see and appreciate, so visitors should allow T I M E to absorb all that is on offer - but so many simply rush through - I could never understand it !!!!
Thank you again - splendid as always :)

🙏 Thank you so much. The filming is all down to Janis, I take control at the edit & narration side of things.
I have to be honest as we have discovered some of our nation's treasures, under the stewardship of the National Trust, I have the impressive work they put in to tell a story, to catch a moment in time. All this is aided by excellent volunteers who bring that story to life. You are so correct in saying you need to allow time; it's essential - enjoy the whole experience.
The good news is we have plenty more to come in the next few months so stay tunned.
      Thanks again,
      Gary

      Hi,
We did a little road trip. Burwash looked lovely, but do you have any recommendations?
All we need to do is negotiate the designated driver. 😉

Sorry my friend, a little late in getting back to you; it is. Love the history in Bateman's, and we'll have a few more National Trust visits in 2022, plus a look around towns & villages of the region. Although itching to get back to Scotland, it's been way too long since we last visited.
