Never have i thought i really can learn to create such complex (For me as a person who just started using blendr) thing with just 4 minutes video, 2 minutes in, i comprehend, i understand, i try it with my own model, and i succeded. You're just.... Wow.
if anyone had problem with alt + d (extend vertex) make sure your mouse is above/below the vertex you selected before hitting alt + d, depending on the location it recalculates the geometry so hitting alt + d while your mouse is under the vertex then extending the vertex to above it will cause problems
Yes that vertex editing i learnt here, also learnt way of using Cursor to Selective. i have been using blender since 6 months. best tutorial bcos its to the point and no jibber jabber. thanks liked and it now opening your channel to view more videos.
I'm modeling my sword in subsurf. This is hell, watching for the topology not to screw up, examining the mesh and finding out that some faces are clipping into each other BECAUSE THE BLADE HAS INSANE CURVES WHICH ARE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE WITH SUBSURF MODELLING
The n-gons on the blade tend to cause normals and shading to act up outside of blender. It’s not always gonna break, but it sucks when it does. It’s always a good idea to make sure all faces are quads or tris.
genuinely no offense, but this really is "how to model a sword the old fashioned way" with countless tutorials since blender 2.8 and there's been a lot of impressive new methods that leverage geonodes and other tools since then. Just my personal opinion in this bit, but the reason this method often results in pretty bad models, is that people try to model 2D directly to 3D without accounting for the fact that most 2nd art is representative and not a schematic/blueprint. trying too hard to match the art outline damages the overall finish of your sword model. perhaps search a bit more to find something that may be a bit niche but has been missed or done poorly by others? genuinely unique content will help you much more and can give you something that people can only find on your channel. do you have a specific focus in blender that you are extremely passionate or experienced with? show us that!
The old ways are still very efficient. And straight to the point. Most Industries actually still use the old ways Because they work just fine and are straight to the point.BUT YEAH!
@@mojoGameDev absolutely. By niche I'm sort of trying to address how vulnerable "generic" tutorials end up, often I see big channels decide to drop one of these and it just kills traffic to all the smaller channels trying to build their base. so rather than it just being a "sword", perhaps it could be a specific type of sword or blade? like a named one from a really popular folktale, show or game? I know sometimes I think "I wonder if someone has made XXX that can show me what to do" and there's just nothing. personally I lean more towards spears and their variants because its less common. Ultimately though, if someone knows how to properly model a sword, they can model just about any blunt or bladed weapon by tweaking a few steps. The main reason I bring up geonodes is in its utility for iteration and variation. if you set up a relatively simple nodetree and use collections, you can effectively play mix and match between different sword parts, like blade+guard+hilt and when you get a combo you like, you can then return to adjusting the mesh for a whole asset the oldschool way. I considered doing a tutorial series for blender weapon creation along this line and haven't seen it done so it could be a way for you to display a unique approach others don't have. would also be a great way to explain iteration and experimentation to learners while also flexing the time saved developing a whole arsenal for a game. I find nothing is quite as amazing a motivator as being able to see just how quickly we can get a really high quality result compared to the blender 2.8 and earlier era where manual was pretty much your only option. If you can really nail the pre-production step for how to make your content stand out I'm sure you'll be able to grow a solid community in no time👌
so NOBODY is gonna talk about how he literally stole the video idea AND content and made it shorter from a youtuber called vertex arcade. vertex arcade's video was 17 mins, it was better tbh

Reference material in the workspace with the mesh is a game changer.

Am Glad my Video Helped You
Gonna give blender a good go but man you guys make it look easier than it is haha cheers for not going too fast as it makes it begginer friendly
Well, we don't have the same feeling of "not going to fast" for someone who don't fkg understand any shortcut he's doing
Rapide , simple , efficace. j'aime.
merci beaucoup.
grate tutorial
ah yes make a trillion ngons, good one

Hey when I mirror the blade it gets mirrored but quite far away and i cant put them both together, what do I do?
Make sure the origin(Orange dot) is at the center of where it should be mirrored.
this video helps me i made my own sword with thanks
I'm glad it helped
Could you do one like a katana?
Does it works with unsymetrical sword?
Don't Use the mirror Modifier if the sword is unsymetrical.
You will have to make each side .
So just look at reference and model it basically haha
Using References never let you down.Every Good Work always Staarts with a BLOCK-OUT (reference)
Fun fact: You can use this to create almost any weapon
I have blender 3.6 because my computer is shit and extend vertex isn’t there when I search with f3 is it just not a tool in my version?
Try to find a name related to that
In Blender 2.9 For example,it is "Rip vertices and Extend"
The n-gons on the blade tend to cause normals and shading to act up outside of blender. It’s not always gonna break, but it sucks when it does. It’s always a good idea to make sure all faces are quads or tris.
Yeah.Thats True.
But if You are Going for a low poly style. YOu should just add a bevel to fix the shading instead of connecting all the faces.
tutorial is good but pausing the video 10 times to see what shortcuts i need to press is a little painful
okay.Noted
the shortcut on video so small :(
Alright. Will think about increasing it next time
its going to be w video or its l video lets find out

This is neither fast, nor simple.
buddy said a simple sketch lol
