devin blevins what about those settings in noise reduction I don’t see attack/decay time and when I put frequency smoothing on 150 my little bar is not the same his is
Wanted to say thanks dude: recently switched over from streaming to youtube because I simply don't have the powerful energy required to be so happy all the time (working on it with quality gym time), but thank you for the video!
I'm having a bit of a problem, when I do the process for noise removal, nothing happens. When I also record my voice, instead of the line where the audio goes being all grey, there's a white rectangle area.
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. i just redownloaded Audacity and i wanted to just get the best settings for me to use at the moment. So thank you again for this
I just uploaded my first video where I followed this tutorial (3dArcade Video Essay). I did notice though it was Bass heavy so, in ShotCut in lowered the Gain slightly. And in my head I am still hearing you say 'testicles'...LOL
i have beta58a microphone....how to do initial setting with this microphone to connect on audacity....as u selected some parameter on audacity...but i m getting confused bcoz all those options are not showing on my audacity software....can u tell me sir how to connect it?
I'm trying to record a song with an instrumental in the background but both my vocals and the instrumental are getting recorded onto the same track, how do I make it so that each track only records what's coming into the mic?
Hi sir, Let me ask . I use the TASCAM US-2x2 Audio Interface. When recording vocals, it will produce a delay. Does not match the music What happened? And how to fix it
i just want to ask if this setting is like what professional singers are recording in studio? hope you can help me on how to make settings of audacity that your voice would sound like what we are hearing in a song of professional singers, thanks.
Hi i want to do a guitar recording into my laptop which has only the basic mic plugin can i do direct plugin to the mic jack? or is there any alternarive source. my audacity i download has no hard limiter do i need to reinstall it again.
When I hit record in Audacity, there are two lines (top and bottom), it records only on top line and nothing on bottom. This problem is only with Yeti. I have no issues with realtek pc mics and some other mics. What I might be doing wrong?
Very nice video, clear. I tested on focusrite it green. But when play back it the signal reach red color and sound shy. Do you think it gain too much from mic.? How can I adjust and fix problem? Thank you!
I connected my electric guitar via a jack/usb cable, and I'm able to record the sound in audacity but not hear through the speackers what I am playing. Any help and suggestions will be much apreciated. Thank you
Two things... 1.If I do a noise removal at those settings I can still slightly hear the air, but not nearly as much. 2.The edited audio on this sounded like there was a slight reverb in the ends/beginning of the words like a slight repeat in sound very slight. Not sure if I'm crazy or not.
Hey, can u help me please my audacity was working fine til today, i always record below 0.5 to prevent from peaking but i woke up today and ofc i didnt change anything while i was alseep my mic has become SO weak and i can barely record anything just basically straight line wave forms, please help i have no idea why it just doesnt work anymore
I have a microphone Samson c01 and have behringer um2 audio interface but when I record anything I get so low output though my audio interface is set as 50% of gain someone pls help me
what i do is i just use obs cause that already has noise cancel and all that so all you have to do is talk and you dont need to change anything (unless you want to but i do that in editing software)
using a blue spark digital mike on 2.0.1 audacity...followed your video...recorded..came out terrible..bouncing..what am I doing wrong...older pc will not allow new version download
i can only get the latest version and theyhave no hard limiter but they have limiter and you can chang ethe option o b hard limiter but it doesnt say residue or wet level
Very informal video, great job on it. Only thing I'll say is that in my version of Audacity (and I do have the newest version from the website) Hard Limiter and Noise Removal are not available, but instead Noise Reduction and Limiter. Now with Noise Reduction, it's not big deal, because it basically works the same way, but Limiter, seems to be very different from Hard Limiter. I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually, but any tips would be appreciated if you have them. But anyways great video none the less. Even without that last step, my audio is sounding a lot better than it did before.
when would be a good time to reach you maybe I can show you if your version is 2.1.3 that is the version that I have I am also new to audacity I am on Eastern time zone
Hey Stealthfang, I found this tutorial really useful but I feel like I can can hear a slight reverberation/echo in the final version of your sample audio, do you know which effect you applied might have done that?
So in the most recent version of Audacity I can't find the Hard Limiter...just a limiter that I can set to hard but then I can't set the "wet Level" tips? or am i missing it.
I don't think that's scientifically explaining how to get better recording quality with Audacity. Other than the noise reduction, compressor and EQ can actually make things worse if wrongfully used. Compressor for example, as the name suggests, compresses frequencies making them flatter and decreasing the dynamic range of the audio file. While the EQ's functions like bass / treble boost aren't making the sound better. You're basically adding bass or making treble louder than they originally were when you were speaking. If done wrong, the EQ might end up putting too much bass / treble into the track and that changes how the voice actually sounds in real life. It's more of an artistic choice rather than a factual improvement. The mic's setup is far more important: mic type, anti-pop filter and gain level. The second file sounded "better" because it had noise reduction and with the EQ you made bass and trebles louder. Btw I thought you were going to say: "test, test, testicles" ahahha
Yup. The longer the video, the more time it takes. But trust me, it is definitely worth it. I personally like only using tremble boost during equalization, but you should test it out for yourself, and figure how much of either you want. Doing this will help make it sound better in YOUR OPINION. It really is worth doing all of this though, it makes even a studio mic, sound better. Trust me, your gonna be glad that you do this.
You can put all of these into a "Chain" to apply to each recording so that you don't have to do each of these steps manually. Like he mentions a couple of times in this video, he has a another vid on how to create and save a 'chain' of all of these for future uses, saving you tons of time.
I need some help. Though the compresser works for short recordings, it seems to have almost no effect on much longer ones. Can anyone help me fix this?
My Audacity has different values than yours. I have the latest version too. For example the attack setting on the compressor starts at 0.10 and it doesnt go lower.
Igor Sena I've been using this version for over a year and my audio is always fine on my lets plays but recently with my creepypasta recording theres a distinct hummm in the audio for some reason and I can't figure out why? if you want to see for yourself you can go to my channel and compare audio and I could tell you how I do my audio after a video?
That used to happen to me when i was using a mic with a normal jack. Somehow it picked the sound from my pc fans and power source. It was very noticable especially when it was too high of a volume. I think it might also happen to usb mics sometimes. With an xlr mic it never happened again. It could also be that you have several things connected to different plugs. try to plug everything in the same "thing".
Great video brother. I noticed thought that in the most current version of Audacity that under effect, there is no longer a Hard Limiter option :( You mentioned you were going to do a follow-up video on how to combine all these adjust vs having to do them individually> Any ETA with that ... man that one be one big time saver. Thanks again!!!
4:03 Did anyone almost thought he was gonna say testicles as well?
Jose Gonzalez me lol 😂
After icicles, I kept saying that in my head every time.

If anyone see's this here in 2018 and is wondering about where noise removal is in the "Effects" its now called "Noise Reduction", Your welcome.
devin blevins what about those settings in noise reduction I don’t see attack/decay time and when I put frequency smoothing on 150 my little bar is not the same his is

Wanted to say thanks dude: recently switched over from streaming to youtube because I simply don't have the powerful energy required to be so happy all the time (working on it with quality gym time), but thank you for the video!
Dude, that is amazing. Was playing along with every step in Audacity during this vid. Thank you.
Saved my day bro . Really great video
Finally a relevant tutorial, cheers fam!
thank you first guy that apparently knows what he is doing with audacity.
So thank you again for this
Still pretty useful in 2019. Thank you! 😄
hardlimiter is gone, what do i use instead_??
download 2.0 version
limiter is the new name
go to limiter then at the top there will be a drop down box with hard limiter and a few more options
Andrea De vivo ExitoExitoso use limiter, they let u select hard limiter there
Andrea De vivo ExitoExitoso limiter is the new one I think
I just uploaded my first video where I followed this tutorial (3dArcade Video Essay). I did notice though it was Bass heavy so, in ShotCut in lowered the Gain slightly. And in my head I am still hearing you say 'testicles'...LOL
Thanks man you really helped me.
thank you.. just got a blue yetti. Also got a mudder. seems to help what is your opinion on using one?
Following the pattern I swore you were about to say Testicles xD
i have beta58a microphone....how to do initial setting with this microphone to connect on audacity....as u selected some parameter on audacity...but i m getting confused bcoz all those options are not showing on my audacity software....can u tell me sir how to connect it?

Great video! The audio sounds great! I'll have to use these settings for my commentary
Stealthfang why not mono

Remember to un-check 'Software Playthrough' in recording preferences (drop down Edit) to avoid audio feedback issues when recording from the web.
Bro thank u so much. You helped me a lot. i needed these settings so badly.
i only have 1 option in step 2 of noise removal called Frequency smoothing (bands). idk what to put there
Two things...
1.If I do a noise removal at those settings I can still slightly hear the air, but not nearly as much.
2.The edited audio on this sounded like there was a slight reverb in the ends/beginning of the words like a slight repeat in sound very slight. Not sure if I'm crazy or not.
I heard the reverb as well...
That's the first thing I noticed. I couldn't NOT hear the echo.
I had the same issue
loved the vid , just one thing - how can we remove that ssssss sound after each spectaclesssss ,iceciclesssss in your finished audio ?
Really useful video
Ima save this so I can watch it later on
hi do you mind sharing what microphone and interface you're using?
btw thanks for sharing your setting!
32 bits? but the yeti specs is 16, not sure if that is adequate, creates volume (file size) without any better performance.
Hello, I am using Rode NT 2000, and looking for help for the best setting, related to the mic and the audacity software. thanks
I don't know why my files when exported they sound too low.
All setting on windows are OK also Audacity, could you help me with that?
Did you do an apply chain video? I can't see it in your other videos. My bad, found it.

Onlly question here is ii don't have an option for the hard limiter version 2.2.2
I have a microphone Samson c01 and have behringer um2 audio interface but when I record anything I get so low output though my audio interface is set as 50% of gain someone pls help me
do you have to talk loud for your words to be clear?
because i have a blue yeti to but my words arent clear
Theres no more hard limiter on the newest version of audacity? Do you have a tutorial on how to do that
what i do is i just use obs cause that already has noise cancel and all that so all you have to do is talk and you dont need to change anything (unless you want to but i do that in editing software)
using a blue spark digital mike on 2.0.1 audacity...followed your video...recorded..came out terrible..bouncing..what am I doing wrong...older pc will not allow new version download
Him: Test.. test...
Me, in my brain: (Test... test... testicles)
should i use 48000 hz for a blue snowball?
You should leave it at 44100 according to their website.
i can only get the latest version and theyhave no hard limiter but they have limiter and you can chang ethe option o b hard limiter but it doesnt say residue or wet level
Thanks. How you zoom in the video?
Dude, this helped me out a lot! Did you make the other video yet?
Thanks. Clean and clear quality.
Hey i was just wondering, once we do this do we have to do it again for future recordings?
What is adding the echo at the end of each recorded section?
i hae a Audio Tech 4040 with board ago3, so i would have the rate on 96?
haha.. I thought you will going to say.. test test test... testicles. hahaha.
hi bro im using bm800 and when i record there is always white noise sounds even if i dont speak. how can i fix that?

There is an option in Limiter to set Hard Limiter
When i use the "Compressor", the audio gets all fuzzy, what do i do?
Great video mate !
that's some great artwork that's for sure!
Good . But how make save this all Effect one time

Mr Zoobidoo Gaming Channel Stuoid
Studio?
This helped so much, thank you!
My project rate is 384000? What does that mean, it means that I have good microphone or whatever?
me too and its snowball sounds very good
i believe that's the sample rate, but i'm not sure.
Sample rate and project rate are the same thing on audacity. 48000 is still your best bet.
i did everything you said but it is still sounds like eco, what should i do?
MEHIHD acoustic profile of recording area plays a huge role
It appears I wasn't the only one thinking about testicles.
Thanks! This helped me so much
My Audacity has different values than yours. I have the latest version too. For example the attack setting on the compressor starts at 0.10 and it doesnt go lower.
Mine too...
I don´t know why that happens. Wonder if there´s a US and a EU version or something ... but i don´t think so.

I'm the machine

I used these settings but it makes my voice extremely deep. How do I fix this?
He did. Basically, all your Drum kit/percussion or whatever u want to call was ALL RED. So if you have a drum kit - KICK, SNARE, Nice tutorial
I have noide reduction but not removal help
You're a hero.
Great video brother. I noticed thought that in the most current version of Audacity that under effect, there is no longer a Hard Limiter option :( You mentioned you were going to do a follow-up video on how to combine all these adjust vs having to do them individually> Any ETA with that ... man that one be one big time saver. Should I always use 4800 for the at 2100
