This is fantastic. I've tried several "solutions" for this very issue suggested by several other "pro" colorists. But, your solution - a much simpler one - ACTUALLY works!! Thanks SO much. Subscribing!!
Thanks a lot, what this method did for me is make the Davinci viewer window look exactly like the export in played in QuickTime. It means I was set up wrong and as far as I know, this is the right way from now on to work.
This has literally plagued me for a long time. Nothing more frustrating than putting in all of that work only to have your video export out like mud...sending you into a downward spiral of endless post adjustments and exports. Thanks!
I tried this in July, and it worked like a charm. What's strange is that today I noticed the colors are washed out again. I tried fixing it the same way, but it didn't work! Any ideas on how to resolve this? Could it be due to some recent update that rendered this fix ineffective?
Hello friend, thanks for your help¡ Im curious about the colour on my MBP, i dont know if i should change anything on the colour profile on the screen to see the videos as similar as posible as on the Iphone (for instagram) Thanks¡¡
Heya thanks for watching. I don’t have any of those problem is,so I can’t really say check this guy out he should be able to help you. His channel is amazing th-cam.com/video/CtSBVKmHkjU/w-d-xo.html
@@ashstonk thank you for the reply! It was actually the preference/general settings. For some reason I thought I had those check mark already! Thanks again!
Hey buddy, thank you so much for watching. I don’t know why yours is doing this but since I found this, I’ve never had a problem with it. It looks the same on my phone as it does on the computer screen. And I’m using the iPhone 13 Pro. It also even looked the same on Samsung phones which my sister has so I can only speak for myself but I hope you find a way around it. Many thanks again for checking in.
Not a fix - but it's not your fault - this is a Mac only compensation. It is the equivalent of adding the Adobe LUT for Macs. When you apply rec709-a to anything other than the tagging - it appears like it works but is baking in the compensation that will be present and affect your renders and add to the problem on a PC or android. You can maybe claim that this might be the closest you'll get at the moment, but far, far away from a fix.
Exactly...i'm struggling with the same issue. All "solution videos" apply ONLY for Mac workflow, but are uneffective when working on both Mac AND Pc...didi you find any other solution?
Hey I’m really glad that you find a way around things. It’s never been a problem for me since I found this technique but I’m glad that you were able to figure things out. Thank you again for watching.
Tried this method using Davinci Resolve 18 on MacBook Pro, but unfortunately didn't work for me when exporting a quick time file. Tried this video instead and worked first go th-cam.com/video/pIfOg1MHrhc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rUoIgMChn48AsVlh
Hey buddy, thank you so much for watching. I have seen this video before. However this works perfectly for me. I’ve not had no problems since my clients are happy so I’m not sure why it’s not working on your Mac. I’m using a Mac studio M1 Max so I don’t know why but thank you so much.
You are a lifesaver!
I’ve been trying to fix this problem for days and couldn’t figure it out.
Thank you very much.

hi,
How can I do the same but on PC? thank you
Hey great video! What about your nodes? CST? Ive been struggling with this for some time now. I will try with this first.

Hey even after I change these it fixes it like 85-90% but still looks slightly less saturated than the davinci editing timeline
Hey I’m not sure why that is for you but it works perfect for me. And others who thanked me for using this method
That last change you made on preferences, will it look the same on other displays that are not from mac?
Hey so the change only affects the export. Viewing will be the same As it should
Very helpful thank you!
What about when you try to air drop it to your iPhone. The export colors look good now but when I airdrop it to phone it’s washed out.

Glad it was helpful!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
What if you work in a davinci wide gamut timeline color space? Is there a workaround?
He man I’m not sure. As I don’t ever do that.
Make your Timeline colospace DWG and then output colorspace Rec709A

Thank you for your video
Thank you for watching
why use the narrow 709-A for the timeline and not put it on the output?
Les is more and it works for me. I don’t the colors I see in editing is a colours I get when I exported so I just leave everything else as it is
yow man, what is that song you are using in this video?
legend!!!!
Thank you for watching 👌🏾
Do you change any of the export settings?
No the only thing I would if I did is resolution. But since I learn this. My image is exactly what it needs to be.
@@ashstonk nice one thank you, great video!
You very welcome thank you for watching
YOU SAVED MEEEEEEE
Hi, thank you for watching and happy to help
it worked perfectly but after sometime again the same problem so i switched to rec 709 gamma 2.4 and it worked

@@ashstonk thanks, Ashton. It may be a device setting issue. You got me on the right path to fixing it nevertheless, so thank you.
