Amazing! She took a big chance, no matter how much she loved him. I did the same and ruined my life. It's a major gamble. We all want to believe I'm happy endings and that love conquers all. But the reality is much more grim than that. Good for them both. He has a great woman and I'm glad for him. She has a man who recognizes it and what he put her through plus her loyalty, so I'm happy for him. I believe they beat the odds.❤
I never knew that, definitely play this track for my wife all the time. If you have an SO that needs to hear these things. Please give them this song. They will appreciate it 100 percent. Thanks again.
the way this song makes me feel is indescribable, its just so blissful. like you’re floating above all of your problems in the name of love. your unconditional love for your person sets all else at ease and makes you feel giddy inside because you know they feel the same
i was in college when this came out and did not appreciate it all that much because I was so much into hard rock at the time. but later came to realize how great Rafferty was.
Gerry Rafferty's tracks are crafted, worked to near-perfection, you can clearly understand where he and his crew put the work in. It's a rounded feeling in his songs, they mean something and they are full of expression; he's my favourite singer song writer!
70s Music that you wont get anymore ever, talented and very gifted song writers and musicians in creating masterpieces, yep thats right masterpieces!!!!
React to his song island ,written and sung by a amazing singer and plenty sax in it.infact one of the most beautiful songs that will ever grace your ears.
Another beautifully classic song by Gerry Rafferty! I love the lyrics and how sweet he sounds like he's singing it for his love and how he feels about her. So tragic and sad that he's gone from this world but he will live on through his music. He will always be one of my favorite artists! God rest his soul! Love you, Gerry!
This is a song that if its playing in the car and you're late for an appointment you have to sit and listen through the whole song screw the appointment. Absolutely love that sound. The lyrics are everything.
Any man who has had a strong woman in his life, to support him through the dips as well as the peaks, could not offer a lyrical tribute any more meaningful or groovy than this. Rafferty was a master musician and lyricist, and his troubled times thru addiction to the drink added huge depth and a real honesty to what he wrote about.
A-plus rating on this song ,The masterful balance of guitars, light snare percussion, bass line , synthesizer, moving lyrics and vocal harmony puts it over the top, Classic songwriting and production !!!
Just FYI There is a stretch of Hwy 101 on the route to LAX from Santa Barbara, CA that runs literally right along the ocean coastline - it's sometimes called the Rincon Causeway, or the Rincon Sea Level Road - where I have driven my car on a warm, clear evening with a star-filled sky, totally jamming to this epic Gerry Rafferty song and feeling like I was one with the Universe. Would have to say it was one of those times that really sticks with you because it feels so close to Heaven on Earth. And this was 30 years ago. Love you guys.
Another winner by Gerry Rafferty, former lead singer of the group Stealers Wheel whose big hit on October 1972 was STUCK IN THE MIDDLE WITH YOU. What a great soothing voice. Gerry left us too soon on January 4, 2011, RIP Gerry. You guys need some Supertramp, an English group know for their love of the sax in songs like THE LOGICAL SONG, you won't be disappointed.
There's the constant instrumental presence of the organ, I think it is, in the background of the verses. It brings the feel of melancholy to the piece. I absolutely adore this song. What's so sad is knowing that despite his appreciation and the heaps of talent evident in all his music, Gerry Rafferty died of complications with alcoholism. At the very least, his presence lives on.
You guys now have put a picture in my head every time I hear this song now, all I see is your 3 heads bobbing up and down like those dolls heads they put in cars when you are driving around., cannot unsee it now ha
There is an organ that's in the background, but I believe the instrument you are referring to is a "slide guitar" which is mostly featured in country songs.
Guys...I found this reaction a few months ago and this song is part of a playlist I have. When I need something to put me in a good mood, I put on this reaction video! lol You guys are having so much fun discovering this song and bopping your heads, it's contagious!
If I recall correctly, I bought this single and Al Stewart’s “Time Passages” single on the same day when I was 14 back in 1978 so there’s always been a connection between the two for me. “Home And Dry” would be another great Gerry Rafferty song to react to. By the way, the lead is played on steel guitar with a slide, which you hear a lot in Hawaiian music. There’s your beach connection.
This is our song, my wife and I. Here are other possibilities for you. John Lennon loved Harry Nillson. Check out "Without You" and "Everybody's Talking"
This entire album is amazing! Now you gotta think, this was back when music was exactly that! 20th century had it baby! Now…uhh. Gerry Rafferty was excellent in every way! This entire album is about addiction and the people who didn’t give up on him. It’s great boys!!
I still play the song every year for my wife on our anniversary even though we have been seperated for over 7 years now. She just could not handle me becoming 100% disabled, literally overnight. I cannot blame her one iota for that feeling of hopelessness. She has stayed married so I can use her insurance and get the kick ass employee discount she gets from Verizon...
Thanks for listening to this. Gerry Rafferty and his band Stealers Wheel were hidden seventies gems. There was a lot going on musically. "The Ark" is a beautiful Stealers Wheel song.
Gerry was a huge talent. Glasgow Scotland cudnt accommodate him. Bustards in the music industry held him down. They killed him. But we Scots remember and laud his emotions and talent and amazing abilities a poet, I’m proud to be able to do it on here, you are great Gerry you made us proud and amazed and happy, love, from Scotland I know we all share this thought fir you.
Production at high levels and Musicianship, All the Band knew what was was expected, If not, Gerry didn't tolerate anything less! Bad temper, Genius! Respect.
Another great Gerry Rafferty song is "Get it Right Next Time" - hypnotic bass track. As for saxophones - Supertramp is the place to go "Give a Little Bit", "Dreamer", "The Logical Song"... PS - "as constant as the northern star" is a quote from Shakespeare.
🦋 Oh My! You Guys 🥺😌 Just made me cry tears of joy. 🤧 I haven't listened to this song in such a long time. I love this song. Thank you ❤ Guys for bringing back this cherished memory. You guys react to some Amazing Music! So Glad I Stumbled upon the Channel. 🎶🤘😏🎶 🦋
There are love songs and then there are LOVE SONGS. This is one of the latter. It just sums up everything you would want to feel about someone or have someone feel about you.
A few great sax songs are Urgent by Foreigner, Money by Pink Floyd, and Logical Song by Supertramp. Speaking of Supertramp - The Logical Song, Goodbye Stranger, Take The Long Way Home, and Breakfast in America - all from the album Breakfast in America - are amazing songs! Do Supertramp, you won't be sorry.
Gerry wrote this song for his wife and how thankful he was for his wife sticking by his side through all the years of his alcoholism
Which makes it that much more sad knowing she left in the end. Wouldn't blame it on her per say, but sucks regardless.
I sing it to my wife of 32 years. My singing sucks but she tolerates it because she loves me ;)
I believe they beat the odds.❤
thats what love is
True Love❤
This song is perfect, perfectly written, perfectly executed vocals, perfectly backed up by an amazing band. Don't get any better than this.
True
That's how I felt after my first wife left me ( for a gay with money) and I met the love of my life wife 44 years ago! Luckily we are still together!
This is classic rock
Home and Dry is my favorite song by Gerry Rafferty.
My husband plays this every year on our Anniversary. 30 years
Sweet.
Good man.
Yeah, ours is highway to hell here's to tradition LOL. Peace out man.
@@marceldagenais1893 I bet she never said no! To her husband. Ex's sux.
@@marceldagenais1893 Well i sincerely hope it is just a song you like and not something about your marriage or where it might be going...?
Love this song and his voice is amazing
One of the best written love songs of all time.
It’s got a Reggae vibe. A lot of texture in his music.
Gerry Rafferty is one of the Unsung Music Geniouses!!!
One of the most beautiful love songs of my entire 53 years. It always makes me tear up. always.
This song is so relaxing. This is how a relationship should be, straight on without any drama.
Well said!
I agree
I never knew that, definitely play this track for my wife all the time. If you have an SO that needs to hear these things. Please give them this song. They will appreciate it 100 percent. Thanks again.

Background of college, dating, school, party's, fun, boyfriends, the beach.
Smooth Beautiful Absolute Perfection
I am obsessed with this song love the lyrics I think it all blends together
I think this is Gerry's best song. The lyrics are great and the bass is so rich sounding. It has an island vibe to me.
Well, you are right, it's a tremendous song, but, from my side , it's could be Whatever's Written in Your Heart
🙏 ❤ 🌹 Gerry 🌹 ❤ 🙏

Great love song always one of my faves
Now, that's a love song.
Gerry Rafferty and his trademark "double tracked" vocals, just a great singer. R.I.P Gerry Rafferty 1947 - 2011.
I WAS WONDERING if that was natural! I always loved the texture of his voice but TIL it's double-tracked.
something that artists never use anymore. the double tracked vocals is now replace by the stupid autotune nonsense.
Which we maybe wouldn't have, or would have had later, without Les Paul.
React to his song island ,written and sung by a amazing singer and plenty sax in it.infact one of the most beautiful songs that will ever grace your ears.
You three need me. Very Gerry, and so much more.
One of my favorite songs of his, when I was in college in Boston
Lynda from rural Maine, I always loved him,
Another beautifully classic song by Gerry Rafferty! I love the lyrics and how sweet he sounds like he's singing it for his love and how he feels about her. So tragic and sad that he's gone from this world but he will live on through his music. He will always be one of my favorite artists! God rest his soul! Love you, Gerry!
One of my favourite songs of all time of any artist or band
Love how the bass just gets the song started right away. Such a smooth calming voice.
My fafavorite song .. currently ♥️
This is a song that if its playing in the car and you're late for an appointment you have to sit and listen through the whole song screw the appointment.
Absolutely love that sound. The lyrics are everything.
One of my favorite songs to smoke the green monster to
You guys have a great attitude to music, This from a Scot who live 10 miles away from Rafferty
Good to see the younger generation reacting this way to the genius that was GR. I'm Scottish by ancestry btw...
Any man who has had a strong woman in his life, to support him through the dips as well as the peaks, could not offer a lyrical tribute any more meaningful or groovy than this. That’s my wedding song! I walked down the aisle to that!! On Zuma beach 2017!!!❤
Gerry and Al Stewart both hail from Scotland. Coincidence.. you tell me. Something in the water other than Scotch, I imagine.
The greatest song by him!
A-plus rating on this song ,The masterful balance of guitars, light snare percussion, bass line , synthesizer, moving lyrics and vocal harmony puts it over the top, Classic songwriting and production !!!
Gerry's voice is sooo smooth!
Just FYI

Dare I say it, but I love this song A LOT more than Baker Street.
Clearly ahead of Baker St. for me.
To each, their own.
I think it’s more emotionally meaningful than Baker Street tbh so I’m giving it to this one
Same here tbh..
don't compare 2 masterpieces
Jerry Rafferty was the lead singer for "Stealers Wheel" before he went solo. "Stuck in the Middle With You" is a really good song by Stealers Wheel.
You stolen my thunder. Well said.
*Gerry
Facts I always wondered why the voices sounded so familiar till I looked up more about Gerry Rafferty
Star by Steelers wheel is also a great song.
T hankyou ! I love that song!
Great song! Brings back memories.
His song "Get it Right Next time" is also excellent!

Thanks for listening to this. Gerry Rafferty and his band Stealers Wheel were hidden seventies gems. There was a lot going on musically. "The Ark" is a beautiful Stealers Wheel song.
I think it's great that you guys appreciate the good music of your parents, or grandparents era. Good music really is timeless.
I think it's save to say that Gerry was a genius and a perfectionist songwriter RIP gerry.
The instrument you heard on baker street is an Accordian a large squeeze box with piano keys
Gerry was a huge talent. Glasgow Scotland cudnt accommodate him. Bustards in the music industry held him down. They killed him. Check out "A Dangerous Age", "Don't Give up on Me" & "Island by Gerry Rafferty GR had a couple of great albums that never made it to the U.S.
Get it Right Next Time even has timely sax inserted here and there. :)
Love Rafferty. Yeah Supertramp! Give A Little Bit, Logical Song, Take The Long Way Home, Dreamer. One of the great 'different' sounds of the 70s 80s
Just a personal favorite but I really like “From Now On.” Granted that would be a real deep cut but worth listening to.
@@John_Chu Another deep cut worth hearing is "Lord is it mine"
This is such a sexy romantic amazing song. I love it.
Great pick guys. That song is timeless.
Gerry Rafferty, another great talent who fought with his demons ..... a great loss, but live in his music
The Bobblehead Bros! So cute how far left and center guy synchronize to the beat, while orange is bobbling to another drummer.
