  • Here's another application for the D-Lab K1 PTT Relay system. This time into a Heathkit DX-100 AM CW vintage transmitter. Actually this installation went much smoother than the DX-60. No wires to cut/ splice. Plenty of room inside. A very nice upgrade for this boat anchor. Believe me, this thing is super heavy. Lots of iron, copper chassis. Really built to stand the test of time. Heathkit was a great company. My fondest memories, opening the new kit under the Christmas tree. Never received nothing like this, but the thrill was in the building and seeing your efforts work. The DX-100 is a great transmitter. Many of them are still in operation. This one soon with the D-Lab electronics PTT mod! Enjoy, my friends.

A lot of the old Drake ham equipment had copper chassis as well.

Hi there Terry. Enjoyed the video of your modification to the old Heathkit DX-100. My kind of gear to work on. The old eyes get worse has the new gear with surface mount components get smaller. Do also agree completely with the soldering of wires to the connection lugs of the switch. Carry on the good work OM. 73 de John - G0WXU.

Between your guitar amps and ham work I'm envious. One day I'll get the ball rolling on building my own amps. KC9FJE

Mykal Anstrom I built a Fender 5F2a amp along with a 6G15 standalone reverb unit from the Fender schematics/layouts........both work awesome !

@@tomk1tl I've been wanting to put together a Brownface clone for a while now. How much I travel for work it would take me the next 10 years to complete haha

You need to do a Heathkit DX-40 next. Great video, and dang that transmitter gives proper credence to the term "boat anchor". That thing must have been a real pain to put onto its side.

If that unmarked front panel jack went off into the VFO could it have been a FSK mod for RTTY? Also, it appeared the gray (?) wire directly under the front panel switch you changed over to solder connections had a bit of it's jacket stripped away exposing the conductor...may have been my imagination though. Thanks for sharing Terry!

@@d-labelectronics Hello, I searched and searched for them, and couldn't find them. I probably looking for about 4 of them. . .DX-60, DX-100, Eico 720, and Viking 2. Ranger too.
I found your channel by accident. . .I really enjoyed watching it. . I restore old Radios too. Most of the time I use a clunky relay, but I like your "all in one" smaller relay.
