I LOVE portishead. Weird, never heard this tune before. The guitar on the choruses almost remind me of Black Sabbath, as strange as that sounds. ...yet another facet of an astonishingly brilliant band of unbelievable artistic, musical depth.
This songs represents my inner self at this moment of my life. My loved one abandoned me because I lie... I omitted a truth... not intending to lie for ever. Just didn't know when was the right moment to say. And because of that, I lost him. .....I was always unsure of when to tell him. I can't find no one to blame, only me. I'm tired of my mind... I am, indeed, a damned one. God help my soul.
the droning sounds of the end of the world is the vibe i get 4 horsemen raging across a baren wasteland, i love it when sounds create that kind of imagery--thanks for commenting
I just watched the movie Threads. I think that this song is based on the movie. The air-raid siren like guitar is like the sirens warning of the approaching nukes in the film.
Yeah, everything was just so right that night. i never thought in a million years that i'd see Portishead live. it was the best $65 i've ever spent and the setting was cozy and intimate. i was like 15 ft from the stage. there were no barricades or anything.
When the album was released it coincided with a relationship breakdown I had at the time. This song really describes the darker moments of life when you feel nothing but despair and anguish.
Magic Doors gave me some sort of existential panic attack when I first listened to it lying in bed. This album conveys everything it wants to in such a shocking way.
this song is absolutely stunning. every song on Third is so good, but when I heard this song for the first time I was utterly shocked. so powerful, such a good album ender!!!!!!
my little nephew entered my room so happy screaming my name to go out and play while I was listening this song, and at the door he just stopped, motionless and stoic for about 30 seconds too, just listening with eyes wide open, i don't know if feel bad or good about him haha
it sound at the end , in my opinion made the song, i fell in love bec ause of it sound, reminds me the alarm of the trooperships in the War of the World...
There was a movie years ago called ghost ship. There' a scene where a stray cable goes taut, and slices all the party goers on deck in half. I had a nightmare about that scene, and in my dream, the dead rose as ghosts. They were scared and afraid. But they were stuck in this party setting. Portishead were the ghost party band, looking sad, capturing the fear and uncertainty and damnation. It was this song. I kinda like that. I always thought that should be the video for this song.
I spent years looking for the song that plays during the flashback to that scene...it's by Gabriel Mann and it's called "My Little Box," an equally worthy piece.
This is just sooo fuckin'... well.. dopey.. It feels like a cold early morning whacked out on smack watching buses and trains roll by with a big grin on your face
I think the term "trip hop" refers to its use of beats and samples, like hip hop, as well as the scratching and manipulating of certain sounds so it sounds like they're "tripping" and repeating.
i remember, not being impressed with this album when it first came out, so i took it back to Virgin becase i needed the $20 for food anyway. flash forward 2 years and now i have money and i went to see Portishead live. damn, everything they did from 3rd was fucking amazing, especially this song. this one stood out in my mind the most. plus, i was completely baked.
You might want to search for a UK docu/movie called 'Threads' on google video.if you haven't seen it. remember it was banned... but not any more. its not a comedy.
@mitsu4g63t i am in no way 100% sure of this, but i think the sound at the end is sort of mimicking the sound of "aum" (aka "om") that you hear many buddhist monks singing...
Better if I could find the words to say Whenever I take a choice it turns away I'm worn, tired of my mind I'm worn out, thinking of why I’m always so unsure I battle my thoughts I find I can’t explain I’ve travelled so far But somehow feel the same I'm worn, tired of my mind I'm worn out, thinking of why I’m always so unsure I’m always so unsure I'm worn, tired of my mind I'm worn out, thinking of why I’m always so unsure I’m always so unsure (I’m always so unsure) I’m always so unsure (I’m always so unsure) I’m always so unsure Am I alive when I sleep While I look In all that I got I can't find No one to blame Stand, stand * Damned one Damned one, damned, damned one I am one, damned one Where do I go * In live she sings : Tears and tears Tired, I'm worn Tired, I'm worn Tired, I'm worn Tired, I'm worn Tired, I'm worn Worn Where do I go
That outro. Absolutely mesmerizing.
This song sounds so dark and twisted... I love it! :)

The feels are relentless.

This song left us with no hope...That's how i feel this song.
better if I could find the words to say how amazing this song is.
oh, I see what you did there, better if you don't...
that's why this song is so amazing

The ending reminds me of War of the Worlds. Love this track. Love portishead. They are one of the only Modern bands worth any merit !
Beautiful. Also, sad.

What's a Portishead? Why is it so good?
Jeremiah Williams What is this "good"? Why is it comparable to Portishead?
Small town near Bristol, UK.
sublime...
This could easily be a really heavy fucker of a metal tune. Nice and doomy :-)
Also one of the most beautiful
@parkay301 I felt the same about Third until I saw live performances from the album on youtube, I bet it was awesome to be there

This song still sends shivers down mine. I played the album to death during a very low point of my life. It is amazing stuff though.
Haha, I love Pyramind Song and this song. Brilliant connection
kick ass album closer
@SniffPeters How about Bauhaus? Reminds me more of them than Sabbath, especially the end.
Better if I could find the words to say
Whenever I take a choice it turns away
I'm worn, tired of my mind
I'm worn out, thinking of why
I’m always so unsure
I battle my thoughts
I find I can’t explain
I’ve travelled so far
But somehow feel the same
I'm worn, tired of my mind
I'm worn out, thinking of why
I’m always so unsure
I’m always so unsure
I'm worn, tired of my mind
I'm worn out, thinking of why
I’m always so unsure
I’m always so unsure (I’m always so unsure)
I’m always so unsure (I’m always so unsure)
I’m always so unsure
Am I alive when I sleep
While I look
In all that I got
I can't find
No one to blame
Stand, stand *
Damned one
Damned one, damned, damned one
I am one, damned one
Where do I go
* In live she sings :
Tears and tears
Tired, I'm worn
Tired, I'm worn
Tired, I'm worn
Tired, I'm worn
Tired, I'm worn
Worn
Where do I go
PORTISHEAD лучшие
third album is perfect to lose and find yourself on RCs
yes, they should go listen some dutch terror, 200+bpm
Why no "Love it" button?
"ahhhhhh"...is I can say.
I appriciate the level at which this was recorded. This song is meant to be played at full volume.
The sound at the end is just creepy.
I'm always so unsure.
Lol - she just wasn't ready..
so Exquisite
Sea of despair
I found this on Jukesy player. For some reason this reminds me of Super Metroid the Brinstar level.
The distorted barking noise at the end is actually Geoff Barrow
it's look like psychedelic music.....
@TheGibitzMachine totally right
soundtrack of doomsday
Bilet parası bulsam da gitsem lan :(
at night time :]
Ahhhhhh...
this shit is wild!!!!
~ Beau.
I really hate when people associate slow music with sadness. It's so stupid.
Yeah, it's almost as if a lot of sad songs are also slow, so people associate the two things.
Give me a fucking break.
Have you listened to the lyrics?
whoa, im listening to this stoned for the first time and it`s a different kind of groovy...im tripping !!!
xesmenooooooooooooooooooooooooo
the eerie sound in this music always reminds me of Pyramid Song by Radiohead.. 2 different musics, similar depressive, eerie feeling :)
hahahahahaha...
this song makes my psychotic breakdown sound sexy.
I love this song. Towards the end it sounds like the horne of Gabriel filling the air. Sounds deep.
hehe thank you :)
^^
the most suicisal track ever
I absolutely hate these commercials. Girls who you do not want to associate with taking care of their sexual health, much less even having a sex life.
