I find outside of the States, planning is done a lot by week number. I moved to Australia a couple years ago and have totally adopted it. The school terms also are by week number. It makes the flow of the months so much easier to go through if that even makes sense lol! Like when two months overlap one week. I now keep track of my finances in blocks of weeks vs. months...I can't even explain it hahaa
