    Finally someone said what everybody needs to hear about mud fever!!! DONT WASH YOU HORSES LEGS!!! If human skin can't handle being washed all the time, horses skin can't either....
    I know and see so many dealing with it and they have all washed the mud of their horses every day they come in. I have never done it, and have never had it. I even had a horse who had it when we bought her and in the 5 years we had her,, she never had it again.......
    If you want the mud off, wait until it dries and then brush it off.

    Yes the part about walking for at least 10 mins is so important! My pony, fit and healthy, got badly tied up even after a 5 min walk and then steady trot work in the arena after being stabled all day! Never happened since as I walk for 10 mins + at the start of each ride! Love this video 💘

    I love winter! And I want a Hobbit’s pilate course for the new year, to get my summer body hihihihi
    I love seing other countries routine and I have to admit I’m a little « shook » by the bucket on the floor while picking their feet, it’s such a good idea and I’ve never seen it around here!!!!!!

  • @lindaeder4704

    Have you tried using the collapsible hoses to fill your water tanks in the winter? I live in NY where we have much colder weather and I use them and they are a God send.
    They collapse on their own after you turn off the water and they shrink down to nothing and are so light weight. Come in 25 foot lengths. I keep mine in a bucket in my heated tack room. You can easily connect several together to reach quite a distance.

    Couldn't imagine living in an environment that cold. My horses would need a heated water trough to ensure that they drink. Plus lots of hay because neither of them are allowed sugary grass.
    I think that there are automatic waterers that let you monitor how much water your horse is drinking.

    • @andystpierre6086
      @andystpierre6086 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Standardbred Adventures it’s even colder where I am! We have 0 grass in the winter cause there is too much snow!!! But I love winter, so I don’t mind ;)

    • @user8241
      @user8241 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sudacrem is really good for minor wounds. Obviously if you have some proper anti bacterial it's probabaly better but if it's too small or barley even a cut then sudacrem works wonders

    I love the healthy tips-it really can be quite simple to have horses-keep up on pertinent info-feed-water -distance between feed in pasture-extra piles-watch fencing ,look for screws nails etc--it's all called common sense ,looking ahead towards dangerous possibilities, and education-feed vet Thanks-I am older than your mom Meg and have had horses for 53 years---I taylor their expense with self education and common sense--maybe we could call it horse sense.thanks for your tips Debra

    It is so interesting how different it is to keep horses in the UK. We don't have frosty grass in winter, we have ice and snow. The majority of places have dirt or gravel fields/paddocks, no grass. They only get grass for a few months during summer. So horses are fed hay or haylage most of the year, 3-4 times a day. And the concept of keeping horses inside for months on end in winter seems abusive to me, here they are out in winter, no matter. Because of the ice and snow, we have shoes on in winter, and they are studded the whole time, and wear snow grips in their shoes.
    It's so different, and it's interesting.

    • @milliet311
      @milliet311 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      M B Equestrian she doesn’t keep her horses in all winter. And the fact that ur horses don’t get grass all year round is preety abusive because they aren’t allowed they’re natural food source

    • @ellenohara2770
      @ellenohara2770 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Millie T No it’s not abuse. There isn’t any grass for them to eat. I’m all for trying to feed as natural as possible but for some that is impossible. Please don’t make accusations without doing research and properly thinking it through.
