Man the aea almost sounds rolled off and mostly lower mid range mud. The api was seemed to have the most presence and attack to it, while the chandler was the most balanced sounding
The rolled off sound of the AEA isn't the preamp, it's the mic. They switched to a totally different ribbon mic (about as opposite as you can get to the Sanken condenser they were using for the other two.) Bit of an odd thing to do.
