In the late 1970s, the team at Maxon designed and created the original OD808 overdrive circuit. This pedal would eventually become the Tubescreamer as we know it today. Flash forward to today and the team at Maxon have decided to recreate the pedal that so many people have cloned. This is the original OD808 circuit made by the people who created it.
This gives you that classic, vintage overdrive sound with the modern reliability we need as guitarists. This nifty overdrive can handle everything you throw at it and is capable of pushing your amp into lush valve saturation. go from creamy overdrive to all-out rock sounds in an instant! Great pedal, great demo. I've never owned a Maxon but I have owned the Ibanez Tube Screamer iteration and love that pedal.
I've had mine for about 8 years and I love how transparent it is - I mean, you can still hear the character of your amp through it, and this is what I was looking for in an overdrive pedal. It just gives it such a natural overdrive. A Les Paul through this pedal and into into a Marshall tube amp is a glorious thing!
