Yea love Magnus but come on at the level and position he’s in he should have a proper streaming setup with top audio. Also not use the massive plastic bottle while interview, the noise is annoying. Just pour it into a glass before you start
Levy always assumes he is smarter than the fan base. He thinks people need memes and short form chess in order to make the game interesting. This channel was heading in a great direction but somehow it already took a bad turn. The abrasive tone Levy is taking toward Kaja is pretty off putting. She is much smarter than he gives her credit for. He’s also consistently feeding the narrative that Ding isn’t trying hard enough. Big respect to Magnus for being the voice of reason. This channel is clearly based off of his and Kaja’s vision and the Gotham cynicism is annoying af. Stop trying so hard to be cool for Magnus, Levy. It’s not working.
Ding's strategy seems to be carefully navigating the classical rounds and hoping to dominate the tie-breaks where he has better rating and more chances against the calculating beast - Gukesh, who has less than 2660 peak in both Rapid and Blitz.
You know how everyone has that friend that acts one way 95% of the time, but then they act like a completely different person whenever their crush walks into the room? That’s Levy whenever Magnus enters the chat.
Both Qg5 and Kg7 were discussed by the players in the press conference - Ding was worried about counter play and Gukesh missed e3 further into the line
There's a time and place. Deferring to Magnus makes more sense here. Dominating with a high energy when you know less (than Magnus) is not a good look.
He still has that enthusiasm for his own videos. I dont love the format they have for this videos. I dont need the lady there asking questions disrupting the flow of conversation.
They should just give Magnus control of the board and let him do it by himself. The host isn't needed, and levy should be the host or the one asking questions of interest that viewers would be interested for things Magnus has left out or didn't explain.
Magnus is right, they should have privacy in the rest room. even if Ding is really cute but... idk who thinks that its ok. Its odd that someone cannot even there be alone for a moment and people can observe them.
Yeah that's pretty twisted, that kind of pressure does a lot to a person and there's no valid justification for it. A camera for anti-cheating purposes sure but it shouldn't be standard to broadcast it and have players worrying about getting memed on (not to mention then having the memeing awkwardly and incorrectly explained to them)
Yeah I’m getting weird energy too. I don’t know much about Kaja, what’s her rating and title? Edit: just reached the bit where she said she’s from outside the chess world and doesn’t get what’s going on on the board, which makes me wonder what’s the thinking behind her leading the recaps? There must be a reason but sometimes imho the questions asked don’t always extract the most value.
@@citywitt3202 I think Kaja is doing a good job and levy is making it more difficult than it has to be. I'm sure it's not easy to coordinate these and the synergy can be hard to get right, but levy is giving weird vibes when responding to Kaja a few times, not all the time. Why does her chess skill have anything to do with this?
@@johnnyd.j.6068 because I think (and I could be wrong) there’s exasperation around some of the questions and a lack of understanding of the nuances of the game, and how confusing it comes across when there’s one person saying X and someone who’s way more qualified says no it’s actually ABC. Anna Cramling was on the broadcast today and I think she was much better. It’s like what would happen if I was asked to host a football recap. I’m good at hosting, I’m good at interviewing. I know sweet f all about football. My questions would not be helpful for someone trying to learn about football. Chess commentaries need to be lead by someone who gets chess to the level they can convey complex ideas to novices who are just watching to chill. There was so much to talk about in that match and Kaja seemed so out of her depth. Not saying she can’t learn but I felt nothing was explored in enough depth. But they’re all learning with T3 and I’m sure this stuff will be ironed out soon.
Levy: we don't need to point to the fact that my wife is Chinese... Levy: ... proceeds to speak Chinese to explain the meme lol Did anyone else know the the John Cena connection?
I agree it was a totally fair idea of a comment from the host, but the way she put it was too abrupt to almost be crass. I think thats what threw him off. If someone I wasnt comfortable with said that to me, I would do a double take
@LZAK123 good callout. I just saw the part near the end where magnus is like, Gukesh is down to 60-40, and shes like, "oh you think Ding is gonna win."
He really doesn't like the host and is say from watching him alot he's really passionate about chess becoming as followed as a sport. I feel hes disappointed with how take take take is turning out.
One thing i really like about this WCC is the variety of openings these super GMs are playing rather than the boring Spanish/Morphys/ petroff/ berlin defense that we've been accustomed to the last few years. I really like watching ding play the French defense as black as this has led to more imbalance in the middle and end games and opportunities for both players to come up with a win.
This was so strange. Kaja adds some professionalism and nice branding feel to the site but levy can add so much to this format by adding the extra bridge between casual and expert and come up with one or two extra questions of his own to magnus like he has tried to. Her fighting that, specially that hard, instead of embracing it is both a gigantic detriment and genuinely off putting to see. The moment at 12:40 is ridiculous to see. Levy isn't getting difficult for engaging in a conversation about critical moments and players' psychology she doesn't bring up, like some have said. That should literally be his main purpose and is his biggest value contribution to the format as we saw from his host episode. Whoever is producing this needs to see this and have a serious say so on where they want this to go because only being able to reply to her points or questions and not allowing them to engage and Levy to come with his own is absurdly ignorant. Notice Magnus' responses so many times start 'you bring a great point Levy' if somehow this isn't obvious to you...
she litreally said it where it came across like she's not happy she lost control. "can i NOW JUMP TO MOVE 26". the episode where it was just levy and magnus was much more natural
It is an inteview and Kaja is handling it by herself. There is a time for them to talk and go on rants. So yes, she has to control the interview to follow her script
i was cheering for ding because ppl were badmouthing him, but gukesh is also such a good guy and likes to play, now I dont know. shall the better one win
It's important for Gukesh to win as it will inspire to a lot of youngsters that they can make it happen if they make up their mind for right things...n that there is no fixed age to go for a win❤
Magnus pointing out Qg5 as winning for Ding and a few moves later Kg7 as winning for Gukesh shows how both players are missing the tiny subtleties at critical times .
honestly Ding is making things worse for himself. his mentality is definitely not there. i don't know whether he's missing stuffs or playing the easy route to somehow get a safe passage.
Kg7 wasn't winning. It'd be winning only if white blundered the next move. Otherwise it'd be drawn. Engine shows 0.00 after reaching any reasonable depth
@@superneenjaa718 Gukesh himself said he didn't see this while playing, Kg7 followed by e3 was more powerful. But can't blame him for not finding it when he didn't have much time left. (PS: Hence what Magnus said was the top engine line in that position.)
He didn't say that's winning. He said it might offer better practical chances according to the current game situation and time left and players psychology according to his beliefs. Thats not objectively winning due to the position alone.
1. Ding said that he saw Qg5, but he was worried about Qh1+. 2. Gukesh calculated Kg7, but he didn't see e3 at the end of the line and felt he is getting checkmated if he tries Kg7
With so many people saying this not the real championship because Magnus is not playing, it is really nice to see Magnus himself reviewing the games and following the match and actually enjoying it. Also, with so many recaps being available for the match, people are indeed interested, and Ding and Gukesh are showing why they are the two players at the championship table. They both earned it. And let's always keep in mind that it is a lot easier to sit on your couch at home with your coffee and computer and speculate what a player should do. When you're sitting at the table with the world championship on the line with each move, it is very different. That's why Magnus's recap means more, not just because he's the best, but because he's actually been there many times.
I think you should stop asking Levi substantive questions. He doesn’t seem comfortable sharing his thoughts on the chess itself because, well, magnus is there. You can ask him more fun questions or even have him facilitate the conversation in addition to the host
It would be pretty intimidating to talk chess with the goat, but Magnus doesn't seem judgemental. Levy is doing a good job, Magnus is often saying when he's made a good point
@@AbhirupSen20it really was weird, he acted like he was offended, even though he was the one who brought it up moments before? He’s got weird, snappy energy
Crazy thought but ding might actually try to take the match to tie breaks where gukesh isn’t really that great in shorter formats since he won’t have to very deep into analyzing lines.
21:05 I'm glad Levy asked Magnus about Ding's strategy in the match, which seems unusually cautious for a World Champion. The message Ding gives off to his opponent is that he respects him a lot. But, isn't that going to make Gukash more comfortable playing Black? 40:02 I agree with the assessment by Magnus that Ding should have pushed the passed c-pawn to exploit his favorable position.
Kaya is the best part of this. Very funny. Levy seems disinterested in sharing his view and holds back (compared to his recaps on his channel) and asks magnus questions which is actually insightful he asks awesome questions... but nonetheless want more energy and input from Levy and less attitude towards the female host lol. Boy needs to chill all the way out toward her.
I am worried about Gukesh. After what happened yesterday and today. Gukesh knew he was in a slightly worse position. I feel it is very important for Gukesh and his team to get an advantage in the opening with some crazy prep. Otherwise, Ding has been playing very accurately with no major problems. Of course, he hasn’t been winning, but he also hasn’t been in a bad position, except for game 3. Gukesh needs to win at least one of the next two games; otherwise, the pressure will pile up on him. Ding, on the other hand, will keep chilling, as it is clear he is aiming for rapid tiebreaks or waiting for a big blunder from Gukesh. Dream scenario for Gukesh: Crazy prep leading to a complex position, Ding spending 50 minutes on a single move, and Gukesh getting a slight advantage. Time and prep will play a huge factor in defeating Ding. So far, Ding has been the better player when he has had time.
i think the host needs to be a little better. ding did considered QG5 and gukesh did consider Kg7. gukesh missed the right sequence to play e3 which i guess is okay as it he was under 10 minutes. host needs to mention these things.
Ahhhh, I would love for at least one of them to watch the post-game interviews and fill Magnus in. 22:17 - Ding totally talked about this moment: He said he saw Qg5 but after Qh1 Kc2 Rb8 he wasn't sure. He saw some variations but in the end I think he felt like he didn't have enough time to make sure it's all good.
They're all tired/dealing with weird time zone stuff, combined with the delayed stilted timing of an Internet call, combined with some cringey production decisions about picking apart memes and awkwardly dragging out already-awkward-and-dragged-out stuff lol. Nobody individually buzzkilled, it's many factors. An in-person studio film set would be way better but it's not really realistic for a startup leaning on having the players with the most notoriety instead of having more interchangeable commentators
Because her questions and comments are just awful. He is clearly annoyed by it. I agree he needs to not show that as much, but moreso they need a host who actually understands the game more, or no host at all. Levy understands how to make the game entertaining, and her contributions are so stale and boring. And that's just Magnus being Magnus what do you expect?
the formatting has definitely improved, with enlargement of the board, though i still think the commentators' heads could be stacked vertically on the right, so that the chess board is even larger. Also, im sorry to say this, and i don't mean to be rude, and its just my opinion not fact, but I don't think the host is suitable for this podcast. While the creators may be trying to reach for a broader audience, including less experienced players, and to appeal to more women, the host here just does not fit with the program. For one thing she has openly stated that she doesn't really understand chess. Furthermore in terms of affect, she seems uber-cheerful, like its about entertainment (which of course podcasts are to a degree) but this affect seems forced and i find it a bit distracting/cloying. im sorry to say that because I'm sure she's a lovely person, and she seems quite expert at content creation. The pundits' analysis are brilliant.
I actually really appreciate her cheerful attitude and that's what initially stuck me to the channel(live analysis) and I do think people can get used to it. What I don't like is her very non chess background which is still fine but it doesn't allow her to ask good follow up questions and makes it awkward when she just sticks to a set of questions provided already. Levy does a wonderful job asking way more insightful questions, but the combination of these 3 is really awkward for me. Magnus can blend in just anywhere with his non judgemental attitude and goat analysis however something really threw me off in this episode. It felt like I didn't get enough insights about the game at all even after 40 min, and it's the host's fault. Other channels go much in depth of everything which this channel recaps simple lacks.
Having Magnus and Hikaru in these recaps would be fire. Levy is fine for popularity but him complaining about Ding or Gukesh’s play or strategy makes no sense given his much lower level.
People speaking weird about Ding seem to forget a few months back this match was looked as a blood birth, but it being equal after game six and Ding not only offering draws but finding ways to nullify Gukesh, guys need to chill a little
The constant criticism and complaining of this channel ranging from the sound, to the lighting, to the presentation, to Kaya not being a grand master is very disappointing to read. It’s amazing how entitled and demanding some people can be over free fking content. Deplorable behaviour. By all means, show them how it’s done on your own channel 🙄
When the people will realise the sound is from Magnus(he is using a bluetooth mike) they will shut up about it 😂 Also I actually like that Kaya is not a chess GM, this is a balanced setup, if only GMs do the commentary most of us might not even understand , Magnus is there as the expert, Levy is there as someone who understands both the fans and players and Kaya is the host, a host doesn't to be a GM to be a host. My only complaint is that when they, especially when Magnus was saying about the Queen G5 and King D7 lines it should have been shown with the computer so that non title holders could get what he meant and why
I don't see entitlement, I see people making suggestions to improve the product which should be in the best interest of the content creators. Everything is free on TH-cam, doesn't mean you can't criticize. The people who become and remain successful on this platform are those who try to improve their content. Getting critical feedback is very valuable, especially if it's constructive.
36:57 That was a weird statement... after Magnus has just said he wishes players could get some privacy and not be filmed and shown to the public when they go to the lounge room, you come and say "oh actually I wish they forced them to stay at the board and not get up 😀"

I don't know what it is but seems like Levy and Kaya don't mesh well.. idk if Levy is doing it intentionally but he's shutting down her prompts quite often and not very considerate considerately
I mean she literally called her wife Chinese💀 I mean I know she didn't mean it in bad way but if you watch her tone again that definitely sounded very rude i would be a little angry too if I was in place of levy I mean even though she didn't meant that but it really sounded rude and you can see levy reacted to it too means he did felt a little bad about it.
@SahilRawal-fe7qc uhh when did this happen? Also, didn't he say in this video that his wife is fluent in "Chinese"? (I assume Mandarin) Idk where she is from or what her heritage is, but presumably it is China.. since she speaks.. Chinese
@@SahilRawal-fe7qc She didn't say it rudely at all. It's just a meme based on the Chinese word Bīng qí lín (Ding chillin)= ice cream. It's not the most obvious reference and it's a wordplay that probably only Chinese native speakers (including Chinese people) and people who study Mandarin) understand. She just wanted to understand the reference as a native speaker would. Levy needs to relax.
@@jozzgomez8649 bro i know and levy knows it too read my comment again it sounded*rude i meant it sounded rude but sounding rude and being actually rude is two different things I know she didn't meant bad to levy or his wife.

The weird one was Levy
That Echo though
The audio has been quite poor throughout, I think. Worth it though for Magnus' full blown honesty.
Magnus using AirPods while he should really be using a mic. It's sloppy on his part.
Yea love Magnus but come on at the level and position he’s in he should have a proper streaming setup with top audio. Also not use the massive plastic bottle while interview, the noise is annoying. Just pour it into a glass before you start
@@marcinz.3570he is in training camp not in his home where he has his usual setup
It’s really, really bad
Yea i believe this should be obvious to everyone even though it is a bit boring.
Levy does not seem happy with Kaja there 😂😂
You know how everyone has that friend that acts one way 95% of the time, but then they act like a completely different person whenever their crush walks into the room?
That’s Levy whenever Magnus enters the chat.
Magnus to levy is what Jon jones is to Dana white
Both Qg5 and Kg7 were discussed by the players in the press conference - Ding was worried about counter play and Gukesh missed e3 further into the line
Ding so chilled that he doesn't know the meaning of chill
Whoever is controlling the board must be replaced because it is necessary for audiences to see those variations that Magnus is giving out.
This is insane that they aren’t showing the moves..

Levy doesn't have the same enthusiasm as he used to have in his recaps
There's a time and place. Deferring to Magnus makes more sense here. Dominating with a high energy when you know less (than Magnus) is not a good look.
He still has that enthusiasm for his own videos. I dont love the format they have for this videos. I dont need the lady there asking questions disrupting the flow of conversation.
Maybe he had a bad day.
I think it’s just lack of sleep, he wake up during the night to have a look at the games and get up early to make the recaps
@@fangiscool1yes i also guess the same
They should just give Magnus control of the board and let him do it by himself.
A camera for anti-cheating purposes sure but it shouldn't be standard to broadcast it and have players worrying about getting memed on (not to mention then having the memeing awkwardly and incorrectly explained to them)
I also agree
I think grumpy Levy needs a nap get some sleep bro
weird energy between levy and kaja, but good content as usual
Yeah I’m getting weird energy too. I don’t know much about Kaja, what’s her rating and title?
Edit: just reached the bit where she said she’s from outside the chess world and doesn’t get what’s going on on the board, which makes me wonder what’s the thinking behind her leading the recaps? There must be a reason but sometimes imho the questions asked don’t always extract the most value.
Seems like Levy is cutting her all the time. Imagine, if Levy was a decent GM, what would have happened to her😅😅😅😅
@@citywitt3202 I think Kaja is doing a good job and levy is making it more difficult than it has to be. I'm sure it's not easy to coordinate these and the synergy can be hard to get right, but levy is giving weird vibes when responding to Kaja a few times, not all the time. Why does her chess skill have anything to do with this?
@@johnnyd.j.6068Chess skill lets you see the important moments and ask the right questions.
Levy: ... proceeds to speak Chinese to explain the meme lol
Did anyone else know the the John Cena connection?
I agree it was a totally fair idea of a comment from the host, but the way she put it was too abrupt to almost be crass. I think thats what threw him off. If someone I wasnt comfortable with said that to me, I would do a double take
@ufoskeptik-uw9oi is the host a native English speaker? If not, then I completely understand the way the question was asked
@LZAK123 good callout. I just saw the part near the end where magnus is like, Gukesh is down to 60-40, and shes like, "oh you think Ding is gonna win."
agreed
Levy seems a little pissed off throughout this video.
He really doesn't like the host and is say from watching him alot he's really passionate about chess becoming as followed as a sport. I feel hes disappointed with how take take take is turning out.
wow man levy just being salty af with the host after every question for like no reason lol
When you have a chess gm, a media professional, a chess entertainer and the chess gm is the least awkward one something has gone very wrong lol

Hey guys, thanks for the consistent recaps. A point for optimisation - arrows on the board for the variations!
Didn’t take, didn’t take, didn’t take
Take take take (immediately in the opening so there's no pieces left on move 17)
I agree
Yeah i also noticed her “bichness” there, was wondering why no-one noticed her shameless act until i saw your comment.
Well said 🎯
she litreally said it where it came across like she's not happy she lost control. "can i NOW JUMP TO MOVE 26". the episode where it was just levy and magnus was much more natural
It is an inteview and Kaja is handling it by herself. There is a time for them to talk and go on rants. So yes, she has to control the interview to follow her script
Finally.. Was waiting for your recap!
i was cheering for ding because ppl were badmouthing him, but gukesh is also such a good guy and likes to play, now I dont know. shall the better one win
It's important for Gukesh to win as it will inspire to a lot of youngsters that they can make it happen if they make up their mind for right things...n that there is no fixed age to go for a win❤

@@oliver-04maybe I’m misremembering their typical release schedule.
@@superneenjaa718 yeah, but it was very dangerous for white and from a human point of view Magnus thinks Gukesh would have won of he had played Kg7
He didn't say that's winning. He said it might offer better practical chances according to the current game situation and time left and players psychology according to his beliefs. Thats not objectively winning due to the position alone.
Seems like Levy is worried that Gukesh is going to get lured onto a bad position out of frustration. It would be a very interesting development.
Not really insightful, considering that's exactly what happened in this game. Gukesh refused a draw for a worse position in game 6 already.
Felt like waiting forever for this video

I think you should stop asking Levi substantive questions. He doesn’t seem comfortable sharing his thoughts on the chess itself because, well, magnus is there. You can ask him more fun questions or even have him facilitate the conversation in addition to the host

21:05 I'm glad Levy asked Magnus about Ding's strategy in the match, which seems unusually cautious for a World Champion. The message Ding gives off to his opponent is that he respects him a lot. But, isn't that going to make Gukash more comfortable playing Black? 40:02 I agree with the assessment by Magnus that Ding should have pushed the passed c-pawn to exploit his favorable position.
when magnus is talking about moves, is it possible to show the moves he is talking about? Just like in Levi´s videos.
"What can we expect from you today Levy?

Would be epic if Ding wins the next game and eat ice cream in the press conference 😂😂😂
People have been writing “Ding chilling” from day one of the games.
People have been writing "Ding chilling" for like a year lol. That section of this video was tragic, even more than the press conference
Huge audio issues
Time again for the daily Take Tuah
“These things happen “ well said
I am worried about Gukesh.
So far, Ding has been the better player when he has had time.
gukesh is not getting any advantage from the opening. this is the main issue.

i think the host needs to be a little better. ding did considered QG5 and gukesh did consider Kg7. gukesh missed the right sequence to play e3 which i guess is okay as it he was under 10 minutes. host needs to mention these things.
I feel Levy has huge pressure of getting really prepared for whatever comment he makes to be at the level of Magnus comments
I feel like Levy is being a bit harsh with Kaja, idk why. She's just doing her job.
Yah I was thinking he was a bit dismissive of her.
Are we just gonna overlook Levy and Magnus lighting up the host for being a sensationalist 😂 And she literally just giggled and didn’t address it
It‘s a ton cooler BECAUSE Ding doesn’t even know what chilling is. He is therefore in fact chilling
I think levy is not the levy we know. Is it the magnus pressure?

I feel so bad for the host. Magnus is bringing virtually no energy, and Levy is acting like a jerk at the beginning of every answer.
Yeah, what’s up with Levy? I was wondering if it’s the New Yorker in him
Levy is always making it about himself in some way. It's ok on his own channel, but here it's kinda weird.
Yeah the energy was definitely weird in this one.
And that's just Magnus being Magnus what do you expect?
its an interesting dynamic, watching these 2 grandmasters battling to be #1 in the world, while the actual #1 in the world gives commentary
11:15 Levy that question was answered by Ding during the press conference. Please check it out.
the formatting has definitely improved, with enlargement of the board, though i still think the commentators' heads could be stacked vertically on the right, so that the chess board is even larger.
She is very sweet, but this needs a host who actually understands the game. I dont get that decision-making.
Having Magnus and Hikaru in these recaps would be fire. Levy is fine for popularity but him complaining about Ding or Gukesh’s play or strategy makes no sense given his much lower level.
People speaking weird about Ding seem to forget a few months back this match was looked as a blood birth, but it being equal after game six and Ding not only offering draws but finding ways to nullify Gukesh, guys need to chill a little
We’re waiting for such recap 😍
upvoted for the discussion of the meme (and the predictions)
Getting critical feedback is very valuable, especially if it's constructive.
yes, how come fans criticize content that was made to appease them when it's not appeasing them. outrageous. absolutely unfathomable.
36:57 That was a weird statement... after Magnus has just said he wishes players could get some privacy and not be filmed and shown to the public when they go to the lounge room, you come and say "oh actually I wish they forced them to stay at the board and not get up 😀"
i enjoy the recaps!! Thanks!!
