I really like how you do your head to head comparisons, the side by side as opposed to finishing one then going to the other really helps with giving an apple to apple viewpoint of what you are comparing
I think that you should incorporate a ratings scorecard. Allocate a score for each aspect that you review (starting with check-in, etc) out of 5 or 10 and show that score after each item (maybe with justification as to why you gave that score), then show the overall scorecard at the end. This is regardless if you are just revieiwng one airline or doing a comparison like this video.
Hugely interesting. Duh!..I previously had the 2 reports running side by side to compare....could have saved myself effort!!!! I'm with you...KLM and even on the catering. I never commented on your AF vid because everyone was raving about the food and I was unimpressed, especially with the menu and still am. Can't comment on the service though. I had a suspicion that KLM was the poor partner in the union but not so with the new J class. There is just a little more colour and character with KLM. I always hoped that BA and KLM would have joined forces, alas too many obstacles. Excellent Richard, love the comparisons, definitely have more meat on the bone.

Flying to Thailand next year and going KLM outbound and AF return so looking forward to doing our own comparison. We took an online check in upgrade offer to AF business last year (from PE) and whilst it was old biz seats (and 2-2-2 config which we knew before we accepted) we had a great flight with excellent food and drink. Would have booked AF both ways but was too expensive for us to do that so pleased you rate KLM seats and service a touch more.
Ahhhh yes, that’ll be a great opportunity for a comparison. I’d love to run it again just to see how consistent each airline is on the service front…maybe in time…
Excellent review, I love these comparison style videos. Just one minor point. The AF lounge was at Incheon and the KLM at their home base, Schiphol. One wonders what the AF lounge would be like at say CDG - their home base. Apples to apples etc?
@@karlp8484 oh no worries, there’s so much going on in these vids destination wise! Incheon was with KLM but flew onwards with them from Amsterdam so got to show their flagship lounge also!
I’ve flown both a number of times, I prefer the KLM seats but the AirFrance food and service really is amazing. But I do like the little touches from KLM like the little house and chocolate gifts. Both good in different ways 🤷♂️ The only criticism I have is AF needs to improve it’s cleaning procedures 😬
Interesting your experiences were very much in line with my own, worrying to hear that the cleanliness of the aircraft is something you also experienced on AF. So simple to get right…

I just did AF business long haul for the first time and it was great. The food was not bad for airline food. The one thing I didn’t like was the lack of movies/shows on the entertainment system.
They’re definitely strong on the catering front. Sounds a shame entertainment wise though, was it the same system as shown in this video? They’re for sure not known as the strongest on that front in the world however

I didn’t study the others but, typically if there are larger ones in the cabin, the airlines tend to give those for the very front seats, sometimes even as part of like a business plus sort of seat (think Virgin Atlantic etc) 😊
The Dutch are among the tallest people in the world. This is reflected in both the KLM business class seats, but also train and metro doors and even toilet seats are higher in the Netherlands than in surrounding countries.
Have never been a lover of AF but that flight looked very good, the food presentation was exceptional, KLM was disappointing and as you stated the main course looked very PE. I Both lounges looked very good but what a pity you couldn't gain access to the roof terrace. But as ever a really good review, and something I could only dream of doing.
I prefer Air France’s food and wine, but KLM’s service. The seats depend on the aircraft. AMS is easier to connect through than CDG. I also like KLM's little touches.

@@GG-hi5if I think that’s broadly where I’d expect them to come out. Service wise, I’d put KLM on the Seoul experience ahead lounges wise for sure KLM the Heathrow lounges are pretty awful just now, largely driven by far too many users!

Plus the klm entertainment is far superior to AF. On my last trip my outbound was klm and inbound AF and i deeply regretted not having 2 little houses on my collection 💔
Two houses would’ve been fab! Yep, think I’m with you on the KLM front despite the AF vast superiority on the food front. Cabin did indeed feel tight by business class standards.
