Alex has the same yes I like you or no I don't dialogue, but the difference is that saying that you don't like him won't bring down a whopping six hearts.
@@kenziesorenson9332 I think that's more a problem with Alex, if you are in a relationship so deep that you are thinking about marriage (and that's the level of 10 hearts) and the other person says he doesn't likes you the normal reaction is cutting ties with him/her Alex is the weird one in this situation
Yeah, evidently it's out of character for the quiet girl with trauma to be emotional when opening herself up to love. And apparently it's weird to take it harshly when getting rejected by someone who she's DATING. So out of character for socially and emotionally unbalanced people (she had to grow up too fast due to her mom, didn't have the connections other kids have, and didn't have a lot of the experiences around those connections. And tbh, she mainly sticks to where and who she's comfortable around) to be vulnerable when they're outside of their comfort zone. 🙄
@@jimmythornseed8605I think the I woke thing would be saying women get emotional and men shouldn’t. There isn’t enough context to even say if it’s “woke” or not.
Ok, I genuinely get tilted at people harping on about her 10 heart cutscene. You. Are. DATING!!! You are at the point of being able to marry. Of course she's going to have a strong reaction. Out of character? How on earth is running out crying to finding out what was probably your first boy/girlfriend was just leading you on out of character for anyone?
Exactly. People always forget that to see her 10-heart event in the first place, you first have to give her a bouquet of flowers and tell her you want to pursue her (in-game description is literally "A gift that shows your romantic interest"). Everyone who treats it as awkwardly rejecting an unwanted confession has forgotten that *they* confessed first, and then told their _confirmed girlfriend_ that they were lying or already over her--at the worst possible timing, no less.
@@backgroundnpc9631But in these cutscenes, while you have to be dating to access them, they act like you AREN’T dating yet. That’s why there’s more than one “I like you too” ones or ones where they kiss and are surprised. If you were dating, you probably wouldn’t need to confess. So, basically, while you need to date to reach the cutscene, I do not believe for a second that you are dating within the cutscene.
@@alteregobruh It's a flaw in the writing, I agree. Ten-heart events really should reflect that you're in a relationship by now, even if they're basically just first dates. However, the fact remains that, without any prior knowledge of what the scene will be, the player had to buy a bouquet of flowers whose in-universe purpose is explicitly for confessing romantic intentions and give it to Penny prior to the bathhouse scene. It's a little odd that the game allows you to treat it like she's confessing to you out of the blue, but there's no challenging the fact that, in-universe and out-of-universe, the player deliberately confessed to her first to get that far. As usual, it boils down to limitations in the game's mechanics. There's mechanically no way for Penny to confess to you before you confess to her; if there were, I think players' response to rejecting her would be more reasonable. Another change that would ease the situation would be if there were separate gauges for romance and friendship; if Penny's massive heart drops due to rejecting her 'confession' and telling her you hate kids only torpedoed her romantic interest without hurting her friendship I think people would be less hard on her.
@@alteregobruh It's still a Darth Vader level "I lied" rug pull, to give someone the impression you are romantically interested in them with the bouquet, and then say you don't feel the same way anymore.
You know I'm gonna defend my number two Stardew waifu. Of course she cries, look she grows up with an abusive alcoholic mother in a trailer. Her life is already pretty miserable but despite that stays positive. Her only real consistent interaction outside the home is teaching Vicent and Jas. SHe is almost completely alienated from anyone else in the community and yet she is arguably one of the most adult single people already having a job she likes to do and isn't getting your soul crushed at Joja Mart. She invites you to a a very private meeting, confesses her feelings, and of course she cries you're the first meaningful connection she has made with anyone. Rejection hurts as it is but for her specifically it's going to be devastating. Let the girl feel her feelings.
i completely agree, and i did cry A LOT when i got rejected. it’s totally normal to get upset, in one way or another. so i’m thinking to unsubscribe, people who think that crying isn’t ok are walking red-flags…
@@Cobweb_Cowyea, but for some people it’s a big deal, they understand that it’s ok, and themselves accept that but the stress and being rejected lead to that
Its always dissapointing to see this kind of content from her. She does it as a joke but it comes off backhanded and rage baiting, and I adore her other content and know she can make things with a more posi impact.
Tf do ya expect? Her to celebrate? “Yay my crush doesn’t like me back!” I mean I get most of the stardew players enjoy being trashed on by their crush (Hailey) but that doesnt mean penny does 😂😭
It's worse than that; you're not just her crush any more by that point. Everyone who points at this scene forgets that to see it in the first place you have to have given her a bouquet and told her you would like to pursue her romantically. She's not confessing to _you_ in her ten-heart event, she's _reciprocating_ the feelings you've already declared for her, which would make it infinitely worse if you tell her you were lying or that you're already over her.
@@leviistired3621 I can tell you why I married her in my playthrough. I was undecided at first, so I was maximizing heart growth with each bachelorette (talking every day, best gifts possible, etc). At the first Flower Dance festival, I tried dancing with each of them, but Haley was the only one to accept. (In fact, I remember being surprised at how rude some of the others were when they refused.) Made my choice easy, and I don't regret it; Haley develops into quite the sweetheart if you do pursue her. In fact, her final heart event is about her noticing someone else in need and holding a fundraiser for them. Even within that event, the townsfolk assume she's just going to spend the money on herself until she reveals who it's really for at the end. (Spoiler: It's for new books for Penny and the schoolchildren.)
I wanted to try one run with kids and, well, Penny clearly wants them, plus she really needed to be away from her abusive mom, so I figured I’d commit to marrying her in that playthrough. What I ended up with was a rewarding multifaceted experience. Penny didn’t feel like some sort of fake Disney Princess / tradwife ideal of a woman. Her motivations make sense as you piece them together. She’s trying to fill a hole in her life and become as unlike what she hates about her mother as possible. And yes, that leads her to very intense reactions to her feelings, such as doing a 180 when she feels like you’re not the person she thought you were. Obviously this isn’t ideal but it’s not as confusing as you might think. Plus she’ll open up to you just a little bit more about the traumatic memories she’s been bottling up. Kinda unsettling at times but completely understandable and not the sign of a bad person. She also makes decently useful meals as gifts for you. She likes artifacts so I made sure to hold onto them and give her one every day that I was in the Valley. You get unique dialogue when you build Pam’s house! And, of course, you get totally unique decorations if you choose to let her decorate the bedroom. I chose the pirate theme (because I wear a pirate’s hat for the free stuff it provides) and it’s pretty cool! But I think next time I’d go for the starry theme. Of course, you should always follow whatever relationship your heart desires in the game, but I think she’s worth at least one playthrough.
As someone without a strong opinion on Penny, I gotta say your comment has made me a little closer to choosing her as a Bachelorette in one of my play thru
Here’s my tale: my farmer was more of a miner. Didn’t talk to anyone basically the entire first year. Penny must have noticed my farmer always in the mines because somehow she either dove into the mines or saved up enough of her measley teacher salary to get my farmer a ruby for the feast of the winter star. My farmer hadn’t even considered marriage, let alone to Penny but her entire next year was spent wooing Penny, getting to know her, and building a house suitable for her. Getting her away from Pam. They got married the next year at the feast of the winter star. Their tree stays decorated in the dining area all year, telling people they simply forgot to take it down rather than the truth: that they like the constant reminder of the holiday that brought them together. I like to think that their wedding rings were made of the same ruby.
so you literaly break the girl's heart. as in, you are the best thing that happens to her, and you give her hope that maybe she finally found someone she can trust and depend on. and then you say no. and you are angry at her for get heartbroken?
@@lemontecillo8835not really since to get to the ten heart event you and penny must be dating like not even first date dating but ready to marry level of dating.
@@olivernavas4569 i think they meant doing all that to penny would be sociopathic, cuz like you said you’re literally dating and then just come out saying you dont like her and expect her not to affected like that
"Crying is out of character" That's.... what? That's stupid. If you tell someone who's scared into confessing to you that you don't like them back, of course she'll get emotional.
You're also dating at that point, you've given her the bouquet and expressed feelings for her. In this scene, if you pick that option when she confesses, you're basically just saying "yeah, I lied about liking you."
Okay. Saying this once again in yet another video that brings it up. To be able to see Penny's 10-heart event in the first place, you have to present her with a bouquet of flowers and tell her that you would like to pursue her romantically. She's not confessing to you. She's not trying to start a relationship. *You* already did that, and then you waited until she set up a romantic evening to reciprocate the feelings you already declared to get this far with her. At the moment she makes herself most vulnerable with you, that's when you chose to reveal that either you were lying to her the entire time, or you are somehow already over her, leaving her no idea what she did to mess up this relationship that *you initiated* . I think I can understand not wanting to talk to you for a while after that, and starting back at square one with her trust. Stop acting like you have to see every 10-heart event in-game, people. It's not required for 100% completion, and if you do it you're signing up to be a bit sleazy because you're either dating literally everyone available in town before ending up with your intended partner, or else you're two-timing said partner behind their back. It's not unreasonable that Penny breaks off her whole friendship with you if you play around with her like that; the unrealistic part is that *no one else does*
I think there was a point in time where you had the ability to see 10 heart events without giving the flowers so you aren't technically dating. Despite that if you get up to that many hearts logically a bond in story makes sense so really I never get anything people say about 10 heart events (I've seen people literally say Elliott and Harvey are weird because they take you out on a date that's private and kiss the player and you the player have no escape but really you got up to 10 hearts with the person they're not a stranger but I digress lots of things people say about the Stardew characters tend to be pretty stupid-)
Are you really telling people they shouldn't play the game how they want because they might hurt the feelings of fictional characters programmed to have different dialogue based on your decisions 😭🤣 The way you play a game does not reflect someone's morals irl. If you weren't supposed to be able date more than one person in the game, you wouldn't be able to. If you weren't supposed to be able to date every single one of them, there wouldn't be a cutscene of all the bachelors calling you out after seeing everyone's 10-heart events. You are allowed to play the game however you want, even if it hurts the character's feelings, otherwise the Dev wouldn't have included them in the game. You sound delusional.
@@gwendolynrobinson3900 Chill out, friend, you've misread my intent. Let me explain the context and see if we can meet halfway. I am not trying to tell anyone how to play the game, nor how to feel about how they play the game. Not my business, you do you. I _am_ trying to get people to consider the other point of view when talking about it _outside_ the game. I've liked unpopular or controversial characters before, and usually other fans' opinions don't bother me--I'm happy to agree to disagree. But the amount of hatred and vitriol that Penny gets is startling and frankly a little unsettling. I've met fans who have completely fair reasons for why they dislike her. I've even laughed along with a few meme posts or videos playing it up for fun, but some people take it way too overboard. I've seen videos like "what your Stardew partner says about you" that tear Penny fans a new one; I've seen comments that accuse her of being a horrible person and the authors of those comments get into cussing, heated fights with people who defend liking her. I don't suspect Lummi is like that (I'm sure she's just playing it up for content) but the examples creators like her keep using are taken out of context and blown out of proportion, and people keep repeating them in their arguments about how Penny is "objectively" awful. _Those_ are the people I'm trying to talk down. I don't care about people who dislike Penny; frankly she's not even among my top two or three choices of the bachelorettes. I _do_ care about people who keep using nonsense or blatantly incorrect arguments to pick on people who do like Penny. Re-reading my original post, I can see how you thought I was guilt-slinging on people who want to see all ten-heart events, and I probably did take it a little too far, but I was _aiming_ at people who treat seeing all ten-heart events as obligatory and use the fact that Penny is the only one who has such a negative reaction as 'evidence' that she's badly written or an outright terrible person. Yes, person, not character; there are even people who say that anyone who acts or reacts like her in real life are [unkind words] and 'deserve it.' That's definitely the type of comment that bothers me the most (and I've seen it more than once), and why I try to get people to see what the context they're using would look like in real life. I can see why that would look like judging people for what they do in game, but I hope you can now see where I'm actually coming from.
Nah, tbh, this was a bad take, at 10 hearts you are already dating right before marriage, makes sense she'd be rather upset if you suddenly went "oh yeah, nah I don't like you, lulz" And yes, even that 2 heart event, its bad, but it's obviously from naivete as opposed to malice Regardless, she's a lot better than Haley at least
I was in full agreement all the way up until Haley. Haley is a lot better than people give her credit for. She's got a bad first impression but she actually has a lot of character growth into quite the sweetheart. By the time you marry her she no longer has anything mean to say about anyone, to the point where her post-marriage event is actually an unprompted act of compassion and selflessness for, ironically, Penny. Still, I'm not putting Penny down or trying to claim that Haley is better. That's a matter of personal opinion, and I'm happy to agree to disagree.
@@backgroundnpc9631 Oh yeah, I guess I sound like a douche towards Haley, I don't actually have any issue with her I genuinely agree with you, she's a really well made character, and indeed, her progression is good So why did I put down Haley? This will sound kinda ridiculous (and it is obviously), but its simply cause Haley is Lummis favourite, at least from how it looks (Looking down on most of the bachelor(ette)s except Haley lol)
"she goes from being in love with you, to just friends if you say you dont have the sale feelings for her" mate, I would be glad she just goes as only a friend rather than ghosting you, or even still going after you. Like, all in all, a not so bad, not so unrealistic response
Aren't you dating at the 10 hearts event? I'd probably cry too! And if someone was leading me on, I wouldn't want to talk to them either! Now, i find it more strange that the other bachelor's/bachelorette's don't lose as many hearts when you reject them at 10 hearts.
Of course you lose a ton of friendship points with her when saying you don't feel the same way. The reason she asked you to meet her there is because she thinks she knows you well enough to tell that you felt the same. If you don't, she does not know you, and she has to completely reevaluate your relationship.
I think losing friendship points for telling Penny that she shouldn't grab George's wheelchair, or saying you're not interested in having kids, is a better reason to not like her. Being upset that the person you're dating doesn't like you seems pretty normal.
I just want to know why the Stardew TH-camr community in particular seems to unilaterally hate Penny. She's flawed, but so is everyone else in the game. Clearly, the general fanbase likes her overall. Is it just for the sake of content?
From what I can tell its the 2 heart (the George scene) and 8 heart (the kids scene) which do it which I get for both as the first is just kinda gross and rude of her and the second can happen even if you just wanna be her friend
@@J4CKS0N_D34R3ST The former is literally just her wanting to help. Sure, she did end up being rather rude in that situation, but it was definitely not malicious on her part.
I feel like there's a good chunk of the community in general who hate characters for no reason and then go out of their way to find a way to justify it instead of just saying they simply don't like them cause they just don't like them. Like the Clint or Shane hate but when people list the reasons why they dislike them so much it's because of an oversight concerned Ape made. Like it's basically one guy doing all this of course some things will be over looked when he's adding in so much stuff. People will even hate Clint more than Lewis or the actual joja company manager who's a literal villian in the game and does nothing but actively harm people and make their lives miserable. The dude literally tries to put local businesses out of work by stealing their customers. It's so frustrating sometimes when people make up lies about a in game character to make them look like they're awful instead of just saying they simply dislike them. People forgot they don't need a reason to dislike something.
@@slimebunny5700 I dislike Clint more than morris bc morris isn't a real character. You can't interact with him the way you can with clint or the other npcs. Yeah, I dislike him but my dislike is kept in the background because I never have to see him (except for that cut scene in Pierre's and after finishing the CC). Clint is part of the town, you have to interact with him to progress and you need to be besties with him for perfection. On top of that, his treatment of emily hits really close to home for me. Him feeling entitled to her when he can't even say a word to her, him constantly just watching her from afar. It's all really creepy. Yeah, morris is a dickhead capitalist but clint is an incel
...so its bad that she literally cries when the person she is dating for a while says they don't like her that way? Make it make sense. And yeah, she loses massive amounts of hearts if you say you hate kids/dont want them. But like... why would you date someone that obviously wants kids and then you tell them you dont? And why are you mad theyre not cool with that? She throws the farmer back down to friends when you choose options that dont align with her life goals. Its in the same vein as trying to date a child free person while saying you want a big family. Someone is going to be hurt. Her wheelchair heart event though, that is a no go. I use a mod that rewrites that event lmao
Why do you dislike the wheelchair event btw? I'm a fairly new player, so I went to stardew wiki and read about it, and it doesn't sound that bad. Just curious :)
@@olisa_hehe Cause Penny was 100% in the wrong but the game wants you to back her up. You don't push someone's wheelchair without permission, and forcing help on a disabled person without asking if they need it is exceedingly rude. The game however treats Penny physically pushing George out of the way to get the mail for him without asking as a good thing.
@@Swordswoman97 ohhhhhh, I see. The wiki just said she "helped him get the mail, because he was struggling to do so", I didn't know it was done like THAT. Yeah, I can see why it sucks, thanks for telling me
Penny has been my most common pick... and on that dialogue option, how'd you react from her position, knowing what you know about her character where they are, and where a relationship would be at that point? I can see why it shatters her, at least personally. you confess to your partner your going out with in a sequence like that and it falls through, especially if you were agreeing with her other dialogues...
None of those are really valid reasons to dislike Penny. The valid reasons to dislike Penny is that you have to lie to her in the cooking heart-event to gain friendship. The biggest reason to dislike Penny is that she pushes George out of the way of his mailbox without asking permission to move him. He gets justifiably angry, and then she plays victim when she did something very wrong. What if I just picked Penny up, threw her over my shoulder, and set her down without asking? No one mistreats my grouchy old man
You dislike her cause she’s all over Sam. Fair enough. You dislike her cause her eyes turn red when she’s mad. Pretty suspicious tbh, okay. You dislike that she was catching feelings for you after you decided to date her then when she’s rejected she starts crying and you dislike her reaction to you stringing her along and purposely toying with her emotions. Kinda crazy.
At ten hearts you're dating her and if you say 'no i never really liked you' thats kinda a horrible thing to do like you just told that girl 'yeah I only bothered talking to you and giving you gifts for the achievement you can f**k off now'
I'd cry too if I found out the person I'm dating never loved me back. I can't fault her for that at all. Not saying she'd be my choice either, I'm not into the shy girl archetype.
The Penny scene that I dislike the most is the one where she pushes George without his consent to "help" him. Maybe ConcernedApe wasn't familiar with disabled people when he wrote the scene but you do not touch a person's wheelchair without them asking; it's the same as touching and forcefully moving an able bodied person. It's dehumanizing and takes away his autonomy. And you don't really get the option to tell her that.
keep in mind tgis is at ten hearts where your dating and entirely able to marry her so the two of you would have a very strong connection and then your pretty much saying that you dont love her. and given that her mother is abusive thats gonna hit hard for her. its not like your just friends when she confesses, it will break her heart so really it makes sense
I know nothing about Stardew Valley, so you had the perfect opportunity to present all the best evidence/examples to fit your case, and convince me without my biases, and you have failed. Yeah, it hurts to be rejected, let the girl feel that! If she said something rude or insulting to you after rejecting her I'd probably let it slide, I've said mean things I didn't mean when hurt. But it sounds like she didn't even do that!
By the way, this wasn’t rejection. You’re already dating her in this scene, after you asked her out, since only you can initiate a relationship in the game. So this is her partner saying they never loved her.
I swear people will come up with anything to justify their hate/dislike of penny.. of course she's gonna cry when the person she loves rejects her in a ridiculously vulnerable moment.
it's not really super out of character of penny to act like that, if that's your point. i always think that calm and collected people tend to and always have their hidden vulnerable side, and because they usually bottle up their emotions due to the responsibilities they have on their shoulders (think, for example, a teacher- they don't just break down in front of their kids. there's always will be an event where it's the turning point). she came from a toxic household, considering how pam is an alcoholic mother, and she is basically taking care of everything in their house. she has that calm, collected, and mature aura because she can't afford not to be those characteristics, but that doesn't mean she isn't vulnerable/sensitive at all. and the character you're playing opens up a comfort zone for her. imagine that, then you'll suddenly say you don't want to be with her after "courting" her. her crying is not out of character, it's actually so in character of her.
I really don't like that with her heart events youre p much goaded into agreeing with her or else you lose points. My personal biggest gripe is her 2 heart scene. I'm a wheelchair user myself, and it just REALLY rubs me the wrong way :/
Isn't that just how friends work in real life though? You don't have to agree on everything, but some things people value a lot more than others. There are plenty of people who just can't get along because they disagree on family values and stuff. It's not like they're bad people. They just can't get along. You don't need to "like everyone" just to be a good person. As for her 2 heart scene, it seems more naive than malicious. I don't particularly care for Penny, to be honest, but I think hating on Penny is a meme that was taken a bit too seriously.
@@Manakyn That's valid! I think there's instances with her that are fine in that end, like w the chili scene lol :) And I don't think it's done with malice either, it's just Not a good thing to do even with the best intentions. @@PrincessNinja007yeah she apologizes but I just don't like that there's an (albeit small) point loss if ya call her on it anyways. I understand that it's points for telling her what she wants to hear, but I'm just not a fan 😅
You can technically avoid answering with the skip cutscene button if you don’t want to agree with her. But the wheelchair scene is an entirely valid point against her.
woman is abused by mother for years finally meets someone shes willing to trust and love asks them out and then crumbles due to depression, yup what a bad person penny must just be pathetic i guess...
Bro a 10 heart event and you say you dont like her that way im surprised it doesnt drop to 0. If im dating someone and they say they dont like me like that imma be hurt and cry and theres no friendship after. I have been there and her reaction is 100% justified
My head cannon is she's rejection sensitive and I share that and I felt really connected with her for my first time playing and I became obsessed with her and actually cried for all of our big events together and she nakes me so happy :)
I personally feel like she's an ok character, like she's pretty nice and sweet and I know it's really a normal reaction for the 10 hearts event. But it's just kinda make me feel awkward when she gives me a reaction like this when I'm disagreeing with her. And I'm a weirdo who would worry about characters like "oh no will she hates me, I hurt her feelings" so she's not my first option when dating a character. But she's still a nice girl:)
I don't like her bc she moved George's wheelchair by force without asking him first, which is a hugely disrespectful thing to do with someone in a chair. And if you call her out on it she gets upset with you, but her crying is reasonable bc Pam is a pretty bad mother, and she probably feels like she's finally found someone she wants to open up to more and be with, and then getting shut down would hurt her.
I think it's fine that she loses friendship if you reject her after asking her out. But my ick with penny is that it feels like she's just trying to get with you as a way to get out of the living situation with her mom and not because she actually likes you. Half the time you talk to her she's complaining about her sad life and wishing she had a way out. I wish there was a way for you to help her move out as friends, I think after that the romance with her would feel sweeter as well.
Nah man penny is the best option for marriage! Most other bachelors/bachelorettes have hopes and dreams that they give up when they marry me (well except shane but he is problematic for different reasons). With penny you feel like you are giving her exactly what she always wanted and you not only save her from living in a trailer with her abusive alcoholic mom, you also prevent her marring a man child who will likely also make her do all the housework.
Elliot? Leah? Maru? Hell even Shane doesn't really give up on his dreams, he's still got the chickens and is still doing tonnes better from his starting point. I also don't think Harvey, Emily or Hailey do but I could be wrong.
When a friend of mine did or said something accidentally transphobic I didn't just ingore them for the rest of my life, I educated them on why it was wrong. You can do the same thing in-game towards Penny and knowing her backstory it makes sense why she did what she did. It's not right but it is understandable
Or you know, penny has trauma from her mother never being grateful despite penny taking care of her, making food for her, washing the dishes, cleaning their home. She takes care of her alcoholic mother and all she gets in return is abuse. Clearly penny had a reason to feel the way she did. If you've done her route before she talks about never feeling valued
I haven't fully played through Penny's story, but so far she seems like someone who tries to come off as happy all the time - leaving no time for her to actually process her real emotions due to her horrible mother - so if the player is her only gateway to feel the way she wants to feel, I feel like its kinda reasonable for her to cry to abruptly when she gets rejected.
When you're that deep into the relationship and suddenly say those words during her confession, that reaction is PERFECTLY understandable, given her background. I don't think I can hate a person for having actual human feelings.
Wdym? Penny is a soft person, it makes sense for her to cry. Even then, just cause she doesn't normally act that way doesn't mean if she gets rejected by someone she likes she won't cry.
Bro Penny isn't a nice person. She straight up guilts you into being okay with her taking control of George's wheelchair and shoving him out of the way to get some mail. I know George isn't great, but you don't take away someone's autonomy for a "good deed." This may sound like victim blaming, but if she's smart enough to teach Vincent and Jazz, why hasn't she put her brain into leaving? She's old enough to leave and smart enough to succeed, but she wants to be a princess who is saved by Prince Charming. As the child of an alcoholic there comes a time where YOU have to make the decision not to be in that abusive relationship.
Ok, I don't like Penny's whole tradwife disney princess in distress thing either, but to be fair to her, the 10 heart events only trigger once you're already dating. It's completely fair for her to be distraught if you tell her that you don't like her that way after you've given her a whole bouquet and everything It's the same reason why I heavily disagree with people who are weirded out by Elliott's boat event. You're already dating by that point. It's not creepy to kiss the person who made a move on you and happily went with you on a boat date. Get over it.
She burst into tears and lose interests in you if you rejected her when she's in love with you ? Sheeeeesshhh sounds like any human being out there. Unless you're elder lich rotting away in front of your computer playing stardew valley you won't get that feelin huh
she's just. kinda boring to me? and i dont like being pressured/guilted into romancing specific characters by the narrative and well. her whole situation is sad and makes me feel that way so its just OTL.
she bursts into tears because in that scene you’re already dating her, so it’s basically saying “i never liked you even though i asked you out.”
Alex has the same yes I like you or no I don't dialogue, but the difference is that saying that you don't like him won't bring down a whopping six hearts.

OUT OF CHARACTER TO CRY?!?!?
Yeah, evidently it's out of character for the quiet girl with trauma to be emotional when opening herself up to love. And apparently it's weird to take it harshly when getting rejected by someone who she's DATING.
So out of character for socially and emotionally unbalanced people (she had to grow up too fast due to her mom, didn't have the connections other kids have, and didn't have a lot of the experiences around those connections. And tbh, she mainly sticks to where and who she's comfortable around) to be vulnerable when they're outside of their comfort zone. 🙄

(In fact, I remember being surprised at how rude some of the others were when they refused.)
Made my choice easy, and I don't regret it; Haley develops into quite the sweetheart if you do pursue her. In fact, her final heart event is about her noticing someone else in need and holding a fundraiser for them. Even within that event, the townsfolk assume she's just going to spend the money on herself until she reveals who it's really for at the end. (Spoiler:
It's for new books for Penny and the schoolchildren.)

Aint no way bruh💀💀💀💀
Are you really telling people they shouldn't play the game how they want because they might hurt the feelings of fictional characters programmed to have different dialogue based on your decisions 😭🤣
The way you play a game does not reflect someone's morals irl.

As a quiet sensitive person just like Penny, I would absolutely burst into tears. 😢 She’s my best friend in the game. People who don’t get us, won’t.

Nah, tbh, this was a bad take, at 10 hearts you are already dating right before marriage, makes sense she'd be rather upset if you suddenly went "oh yeah, nah I don't like you, lulz"
And yes, even that 2 heart event, its bad, but it's obviously from naivete as opposed to malice
Regardless, she's a lot better than Haley at least
I was in full agreement all the way up until Haley. Haley is a lot better than people give her credit for. She's got a bad first impression but she actually has a lot of character growth into quite the sweetheart. By the time you marry her she no longer has anything mean to say about anyone, to the point where her post-marriage event is actually an unprompted act of compassion and selflessness for, ironically, Penny.
Still, I'm not putting Penny down or trying to claim that Haley is better. That's a matter of personal opinion, and I'm happy to agree to disagree.

The Penny scene that I dislike the most is the one where she pushes George without his consent to "help" him. You can tell her that it was rude, but you lose friendship points with her if you do. Which sucks, because it is extremely rude
Lumi hates penny because she’s not abusive enough

it's not really super out of character of penny to act like that, if that's your point. i always think that calm and collected people tend to and always have their hidden vulnerable side, and because they usually bottle up their emotions due to the responsibilities they have on their shoulders (think, for example, a teacher- they don't just break down in front of their kids. there's always will be an event where it's the turning point). she came from a toxic household, considering how pam is an alcoholic mother, and she is basically taking care of everything in their house. she has that calm, collected, and mature aura because she can't afford not to be those characteristics, but that doesn't mean she isn't vulnerable/sensitive at all. and the character you're playing opens up a comfort zone for her. imagine that, then you'll suddenly say you don't want to be with her after "courting" her. her crying is not out of character, it's actually so in character of her.
I thought about marrying Penny until I realised I was gay as hell for Alex
She does learn though, if you choose the "that was kinda a dick move" dialogue option
@@Manakyn That's valid! I think there's instances with her that are fine in that end, like w the chili scene lol :)
And I don't think it's done with malice either, it's just Not a good thing to do even with the best intentions. Doesn't mean she's a bad character at all, she's just not for me personally
I dont care that much about penny but it did hurt to hear that you dont got us D:
To be fair you lift leah into a tree too
Vincent likely saw that, too. He's just waiting to tell someone at an inopportune moment.
woman is abused by mother for years finally meets someone shes willing to trust and love asks them out and then crumbles due to depression, yup what a bad person penny must just be pathetic i guess...
no penny slander allowed sorry lummi
I was gonna romance Penny on my first ever playthrough, but I answered all dialogs honestly with every character and she hates my opinions haha
Fun fact: If she asks you if you like kids and you tell her no during a cutscene, you immediately lose all your hearts with her
I don't like her bc she moved George's wheelchair by force without asking him first, which is a hugely disrespectful thing to do with someone in a chair. And if you call her out on it she gets upset with you, but her crying is reasonable bc Pam is a pretty bad mother, and she probably feels like she's finally found someone she wants to open up to more and be with, and then getting shut down would hurt her.
Okay one thing: Penny isn't a godang damsel in distress, in all of her events, she isn't screaming for help or anything like that
I think it's fine that she loses friendship if you reject her after asking her out.
She's the most beloved by Speed runners
Nah man penny is the best option for marriage! Most other bachelors/bachelorettes have hopes and dreams that they give up when they marry me (well except shane but he is problematic for different reasons). With penny you feel like you are giving her exactly what she always wanted and you not only save her from living in a trailer with her abusive alcoholic mom, you also prevent her marring a man child who will likely also make her do all the housework.
This is one of the worst takes I’ve ever heard
Lummi when someone with barely any friends and a horrible parent cries because the person she poured her heart out to and trusts rejects her: ew.
She pushed George
*you dont just move someone in a wheelchair.*
As a person who married every single bachelorette at some point I’d rank penny top 3 AT LEAST
Meanwhile Penny is the only marriage option who doesn’t give up on her dreams after marriage. I think. Don’t quote me on that.😅
Elliot? Leah? Maru? Hell even Shane doesn't really give up on his dreams, he's still got the chickens and is still doing tonnes better from his starting point. I also don't think Harvey, Emily or Hailey do but I could be wrong.
@@J4CKS0N_D34R3ST Look I haven’t played in like a day or two.😂
When this cutscenes happened, Vincent asked if I had a boyfriend instead lmaoo
If I had to choose Penny or Abigail, I would choose Abigail
Yes!
Penny's 2-heart event is so ableist! It feeds into the "I'm so kind I can do no wrong" moral superiority vibe I get from her.
I think that it came more out of a place of ignorance then ableist.
When a friend of mine did or said something accidentally transphobic I didn't just ingore them for the rest of my life, I educated them on why it was wrong. You can do the same thing in-game towards Penny and knowing her backstory it makes sense why she did what she did. It's not right but it is understandable
@@ellagage1256 she loses 50 friendship points w you but she does apologize to george so i always assumed its bc she felt embarrassed
Penny just seems too “good” lol
I love penny 😅
FR
And this is one of the videos where lummi didn't talk about haley
If Lummi isn't simping for Haley, she is hating on Penny 😂
She broke her 'Lummi's got you' streak 😢
L video
Penny be like: You called me a loser but I don’t see you walking children in nature
If yk yk
"how can I like a girl who's eyes turn red when she's mad" oh so the ideal woman
this is the first person that i have seen that hates penny. in my main world im married to her
Bro Penny isn't a nice person.
None of these reasons were valid 💀
Penny reminds me of myself and I have the urge to love and protect her, something she never got growing up
ConcernedApe confirmed that by time that heart event happens, Penny is no longer into same and only agreed to climb the tree out of politeness!
Nah, Lummi needs to grow up
Ok, I don't like Penny's whole tradwife disney princess in distress thing either, but to be fair to her, the 10 heart events only trigger once you're already dating. It's completely fair for her to be distraught if you tell her that you don't like her that way after you've given her a whole bouquet and everything
It's the same reason why I heavily disagree with people who are weirded out by Elliott's boat event.
Don't worry Lummi, Penny is a big time lesbian for Maru and doesn't like your man that way ♥️
she's just. kinda boring to me? and i dont like being pressured/guilted into romancing specific characters by the narrative and well. her whole situation is sad and makes me feel that way so its just OTL.
At least that's a better reason than crying over rejection.
It's normal to cry when rejected by someone you've been dating for a while.
