I was 16yrs old and riding my 650cc Triton motorcycle along with my mates, we used to listen to this song at our local youth club, (remember those) it’s brilliant song 🤘🏼 72yrs now, thanks for the nice memories 🎸🤘🏼👍🏻
Was lucky enough to have traveled there, was right in Haight Ashbury when this song was charting...you could feel something was really about to change, maybe forever..."Sky Pilot" was the culmination of all of that
I like it too! I love Eric Burdon's voice! and, I originally loved the Animals? They were my First favorite Goup! In 1966, I believe? The Best of The Animals, was released
This is extraordinary. Today I heard this for the first time, and yet I see that it was a top ten hit in the UK in November 1967. I certainly don't recall hearing it as an oldie on the radio.
After Lennon and McCartney, I consider that Eric Burdon is one of the greatest songwriters of all the time. Eric offers his poetry surrounded by the music of extraordinary musicians. The record "The twin shall meet", by Eric B &The A, (which includes the original long version of "Sky Pilot" and the memorable "Monterrey", is one of the 10 best records in rock history, belive my word. If you have not heard the whole record, get it. Buy it. Eric Burdon and The Animals at their best. No kidding. Thank you for gems like this one Eric! Long live Eric!!! God Bless you Eric!!!
@Sergio Ruiz Zapata ... I agree with you, Eric is a great musician... singer with very distinctive vocals and an excellent songwriter. I love Winds of Change (1967) and The Twain Shall Meet (1968)... a greats album. Thank you very much for your great comment. Best regards. HENDRA

Nice to hear this song I was 14 years old when it came out it was cool full of my future, which I have lived most of it now just more uncertain than I’ve ever been scared afraid don’t really describe how I feel, there’s no place left to go
Extra extraordinary group including the lead singer that album will always be in the back of my mind I was about 9 years old I believe my older brother played it a lot I enjoy it to this day
Danny McCulloch played the great bass on this tune. I hitched out to California from Massachusetts to go to Haight Ashbury in 1969 and when I got there I was warned to stay away, it was all speed freaks and junkies by that time, summer of love was long over and it was only two years later. I got to CA the same weekend as Altimont and hadn't even heard of it. Things were very different back then, no internet, if you didn't subscribe To Rolling Stone or hear it on an underground radio station you wouldn't have known about it unless you were near CA in the first place.
Hello Bob... Amazing story and great experience ... Very interesting. Thank you very much for sharing. I really love it!!! Hopefully, you will stay healthy and well. Greetings from Indonesia. Best regards, HENDRA
Very cool 😎 Yerrr It’s the dark trick of drugs, Smoking weed ain’t no dramas, To many kids chase other highs & this leads to the dark side of addiction,I reckon weed is addictive like booze 🥃 But way more chilled & way less aggressive.
@@stephennewcombe452 Booze is physically addicting but weed isn't, people can get so addicted to alcohol they have seizures coming off it and some actually die. It's not as common nowadays but before AA and detoxes a lot of alcoholics ended up in institutions from wet brain (Korsakoff's Syndrome, usually irreversible brain damage). Physically alcohol withdrawal can actually be a lot worse than heroin withdrawal. Many junkies (if they have the money) can function in life better than alcoholics. If you could go into a doctor's office and get a prescription for heroin you wouldn't be out robbing people for your fix, most of the problems with opiates are economic. Alcohol is actually much worse for you physically than heroin and it kills a lot more people every year if you figure in car crashes etc. I'm not saying I approve of opiates just that alcohol is one of the worse drugs out there and people don't realize it. The "drug war" is responsible for a lot of misconceptions and many deaths. I now live in a country where everything is legal to possess in small quantities and we have a fraction of the problems here the U.S. does.
