  • I have created a compilation of 64 seektests from my hard drive collection. They are played in order of capacity, and therefore are in rough chronological order. This is not my whole collection, I didn't include drives that have poorly audible seektests or can't perform one(obviously). This is a sort of teaser for my full drive collection video which I will be releasing next week. It took hours of work and I can't wait to share it with you guys.
As drives have gotten quieter over the years, their seektests have become increasingly faint and unnoticeable. This is to my great disappointment. Thankfully, they are still prevalent in server and high-capacity drives. Seagate's high-capacity Exos series and WD's Ultrastars have long initializations that feature buzzing noises. The sequence is at relatively louder volumes compared to other more consumer-grade counterparts. Funnily enough, some people thought something was wrong with their drives. I have seen people on TH-cam and Amazon complaining about the noise, which is the normal start-up procedure. Just wait until they see the beatboxing Maxtors of the early 2000's!

Well that's an interesting way to make the video a lot shorter compared to a regular full spin up/down. You've got some really nice drives!
It's funny cause I also saw another video of someone showing off their collection (of 9 drives) yesterday, and I actually started working on an updated collection video of mine but it's taking a lot of time to slowly record and picture all my drives (well that's what happens when your collection is getting close to 400 drives I guess)

Thank you! I actually just finished my full collection video which has even more drives than this. It definitely is a lot of work. On top of that it’s over half an hour. I can’t wait to see your updated collection video, I really enjoyed your previous ones. 400 drives is a crazy amount.

That Integral is insane, I know I just messaged you back about it, but it's so cool to see that one.
Really nice collection! You have some really nice units in there, it's nice to see that A260 going too :)
