This has to be one of their very best concerts. I would've given anything to have been there in person watching. What a phenomenal show. One of the alltime best.
I was on this tour working for Chris Whitely who was the opening act. Tom and the whole band and crew were some of the nicest people I have ever toured with even to this day. RIP Tom and Howie.
Saw this tour in Dallas in 1991. First time I saw TP, and it was so great. No one could have guessed that the band was on the brink of splintering, and that Petty was descending into a deep depression. Though they emerged intact and are still a great band, this was really the close of middle period Heartbreakers - and it was what I grew up on. The whole stretch from Cloud Nine, to Full Moon Fever, to the two wilbury albums, Armchair Theater, and Into the Great Wide Open - that is the music that brought me through High school and into young adulthood. But it was that cold night in Dallas that galvanized me as a Tom Petty fan for life.
Howie Epstein was not in the original lineup. The original bass player was Ron Blair who was also the last bass player. I think he was on the first five or six albums, didn't check the exact album that Epstein took over on bass or just when Blair got the job back. Sometime after Epstein ODd on heroin.

Went to the Oakland show "killer" the only time I saw Tom Petty feeling blessed
Our seats were moved back for the filming. The best. Saw later at Shoreline...

I was at the Oakland show.
I have the whole concert on DVD. One word "Amazing"
+Markarusra Has How did you get it on DVD, and how can I?
Buy a used copy of the vhs-tape on ebay or amazon, then transfer it to a dvd disc. I had a professional do it for me. Cost me about 30 $ or something.

Blair came back some time before Howies Death because he was playing with them in the time before Howies passing.
Thankyou for uploading!

Were Tom and Howie singing the lead at the end??
Imma be honest with ya. That guy sounds like hes having a stroke. The thing is, exactly that makes it sound good.
What the heck happened to Howie? Sad.
Drugs
This would be so much more awesome without that shitty over done freefallin
