Finally, a TH-cam instruction that goes into every detail in a deliberate step by step teaching that can be followed! I'm used to pseudo teachers who just want to impress the entire internet. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you sooo much for sharing this. I am quite a newbee in creating surface pattern design, but I did a wonderful pattern following your tutorial !! Happy Weekend to you !!
Oh my god thank you this made it so simple and easy my brain was boutta explode trying to figure out how I was gonna do a seamless pattern i probably would've spent WAY longer than I had to this was very helpful thank you very much hhhhhhhhhh
I really liked this in terms of the explanation. I am a newbie so I don't automatically know what someone is referring to. You referred to transferring images and doing a repetitive pattern. Do you have a video on that? Thanks!
Thanks. I do not have a video on that, but you could find .png files that were copyright free and didn't have a background. Then you could place them (File - Place Embedded) into your document, merge those layers and then use the same process in this video to make them a seamless pattern. If I get a chance, I'll try making a video that will show how to do that. Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much for this simple and effective explanation. I tried everything you said several times but when i define it as a pattern and scale it, in each joint edge, it appears white lines horizontally and vertically. What can I do to prevent this?
I was happy to find your video very understandable. But I doesn´t have the"new guide" on the views panel. I have tried to found solutions but nothing. My version is Adobe Illustrator CS5. I hope someone can help me please!
100% of pure awesomeness!!!! Thank you so much!!! ? I don't know if you can help me with this so I inset a png file and it comes in with the transform bow. I resize it and after I click on to remove it and it doesn't do anything. What an I doing wrong with this png file? Thank you!
Hmmm, I'm not sure if I understand. If you're still seeing your bounding box you may try unchecking "show transform controls" while in your move tool. Png's can be tricky when sizing too because they don't have a background. Perhaps that is causing problems. If so, you could try merging the PNG layer with a solid-colored layer. Good luck!
Well, I could barely hear it, but it's a fantastic tutorial anyway. I think I might even be able to make a seamless pattern myself now, if I can wrangle photoshop, lol.
there's a way easier way of doing what you did with merging and cuting and moving and so on. why not using the offset filter? go to filters>others>offset and type in half of your width and height of the frame. in a matter of seconds you will have the same effect automatically.
You can save as .jpeg here in Phs. Open Illustrator/New doc/Place this .jpeg/Object-Rasterize/Drag it to swatches. Then use it as pattern onto shapes or type.
You can also use Filter > Other > Offset to offset horizontally and vertically in one go without the cut/paste and snapping troubles.
Yep, my thoughts exactly. Makes the whole process 1000% quicker and easier.

nice
how do you take the visibility away from the guides? click command what?
It's command colon/semicolon or control colon/semicolon if you are on a PC.
Thank you so much!
Thanks for watching!
Nice useful for me thanks..!
I'm glad it was helpful! Thanks!
Well, I could barely hear it, but it's a fantastic tutorial anyway. I think I might even be able to make a seamless pattern myself now, if I can wrangle photoshop, lol.
Thanks. That's a common comment on my videos and it's clear I need to work on my audio. I appreciate the feedback.

Yes, but that is her approach - you can see what is happening around. Somebody who watches does not know + and - math so obviously.
thank you very much.
For some reason when I went into pattern overlay my new pattern wasn't there. Hmmmm
You can save as .jpeg here in Phs. Open Illustrator/New doc/Place this .jpeg/Object-Rasterize/Drag it to swatches. Then use it as pattern onto shapes or type.
thanks!
I can't command+x in the first step, does anyone else have this problem??
If you're on a PC, it might be control+x.
what to you press? "command ....." I didn't understand/hear what she said
Command X to cut and command y to paste. (control on a PC). :)
there is a much easier way using filter-other-offset clicked wrap arround
thank you very much!
