I managed a store in Madison Square for three years, 1987-1989. I enjoined my time in Huntsville and made many friends while there. It was a beautiful mall for it’s time.
I've not seen a Pearle Vision in years, had forgotten about this company & Wicks 'N' Sticks we used to have one at our mall in Lubbock but had closed up but never knew was a chain. We still have a Chick fil- a in our mall as on street in Lubbock, Texas. Interesting video.
I’m still hunting for old advertisements of the mall I used to frequent from 1978-1985 in Cutler Ridge, Florida called the Cutler Ridge mall. Searching TH-cam and Google has been fruitless. The mall was destroyed in 1992. Another mall was built on the same site afterwards called the Southland mall but it is absolutely not the same as the old Cutler Ridge mall.
I have some rather… odd memories of MS. *During its final years of operation,* I remember bungee-jumping on a trampoline and playing in the kids’ play area at the food court. I even got to play pinball at the arcade!
They started calling it black Friday because that's when the stores could expect to be "in the black" (profiting) for the year as opposed to "in the red" (not profitable yet) for the year
It honestly makes me so sick that this mall is now demolished! I had so many great memories hanging out with my friends going with my parents when I was really young… Love this mall! Damn to the depths of hell whoever demolished this mall!
❤❤❤😢 I'll always miss this mall soo much 😍❤️ i basically grew up in Madison square mall 😅 all through the 90's and early 2000's lord i so miss it ,it was way more fun and enjoyable than bridgestreet
I spent a lot of time in Orient Way...they had nunchucks, swords, martial arts uniforms and magazines (and later, a display window full of rock band t-shirts). Didn't Boardwalk Fries have a red-tiled hot dog restaurant next to it, or am I thinking of something else?
I bet people got sick of that jingle. I wish they had shown more of the mall so we could read more store names clearly and see how the stores were arranged in relation to each other.
2023 and it’s heading that way again until the holidays arrive 🥲 I don’t see much of a future working at that mall for myself if it’s continues this way unfortunately
Those are the worst commercials... They didn't help keep that dying mall alive. I operated a store in the eighties. Business magazine's I subscribed to predicted the death of malls back then. People don't have time to waste walking around a mall draging bags around a mall.
Its more for the people want to kill time like Teens or young adults who is in college... Miss the days i spend all day at FYE and the Arcade next to it while my parents was at work

I miss this mall for sure. My mom worked at Castner Knott in 88-89 before I was born.
This gives such a sense of nostalgia.
Hello, this popped on my feed maybe because I had been watching 80's American mall commercials 💜
Gonna miss this mall :( Thank you so much for compiling all of these together!
While it is sad it is gone if you haven’t already checked it out mid city Huntsville is awesome!!
RIP Madison square mall
I love the way the title cards transition in every commercial!
10:00 It's MR BEAR from Full House!!! Remember, that was Stephanie's favorite bear??
I enjoyed the video of your mall, I miss the 80's.
It's sad how it went from "The Super Mall" to nothing at all....
Thanks Amazon

Still one in Madison if I’m not mistaken.
Remember, no phone or mail orders, PLEASE.

Back then The After Thanksgiving Sale is now called Black Friday sales.
That's a very racist term that needs to be cancelled
@@entertainme7523 how is “Black Friday” a racist term?

Nothin racist about it 😅😅😅 quit being a drama queen and go cry somewhere else Karen 🤣 @@entertainme7523

Corn Dog 7 with the famous footlong corn dogs
I can tell by the high socks the boy is wearing at the beginning of the video that it’s definitely circa 1970s. Possibly even as far back as 1974.
Madison Square Mall was built in 1984 so it had to be around that time frame.
14:51 $450 for a MICROWAVE!!?!!? I certainly remember when VCR's were expensive, right before they started coming downi n price. Unreal!
I remember too.
Commercial 2 those computers though 😂😂😂

have they begun tearing it down yet ?
JCP and Sears just closed on Sunday, Jan 29th. They start demo on Feb 6th
wow , used to work there and shop too !
If you're good, and I mean really good, and you spent alot of time there you can tell which stores were where
If Parkway didn't rebuilt it's self, then this mall would be thriving
The neighborhood turned into a crap hole---that's what ruined Madison Square
Wow so many commercials
*Super Mall!*
Can I use this video if you don’t mind
Did JCPenny own that mall? It seems to be the only store they advertised
No dude, that mall was owned by a company that owned malls in other southern cities
damn this is so sad
i know right
chandler jones i agree
Also for the one in Huntsville.
Where in the HSV area was this mall?
University drive/hwy 72 and Rideout road
Good on you for putting this strangeness up.
How old are these commercials?
About 35 years old
look at the clothes
85-88
“Orient Way is your Far East connection, with clothing and accessories for ninja...” That place was just asking to be ripped off.
BUT WILL YOU TAKE MAIL OR PHONE ORDERS?
Its sad Madison square got razed
It looked like a prison without guards before it closed---definitely didn't want to be there at night
Visited this city recently. Not really much has changed.
gentrification
It seems that parkway city had the same lifespan of madison Square. A mall is not what huntsville needs
Malls are obsolete thanks to Amazon
