2NE1 was the monster rookie in 2009. Debuted with Fire followed by I don't care. Introduced the girl crush concept. They were not doing the cute and sexy concepts which was the trend. That's why many people loved 2NE1 then because they were unique.
and thats why they were my favorites and the only group I kept listening (till this day). I like F(X) and EXID for a while too, but they weren't 2NE1

Wonder Girls concept has always been retro so that’s why their song and MV looked/sounded the way they did. I would’ve checked out “Why So Lonely” as an introduction but I absolutely love “Be My Baby” too
That was probably their most viewed MV bc it was their last time together as the (mostly) original lineup

Sunmi was also in Wonder Girls! She was one of the first members but left and then came back, that's why she wasn't in this mv. Hyuna was also one of the first members but left due to health reasons I believe.

Please do an IU special! she has such long discography. Debuted at 15, Became a top singer and nation’s little at 18, the fact that she can maintain her top position for the past 14 years only shows how amazing she is. She is the producer of her own album write and compose all of her stuff which really shows her unique color, i think that’s why we say IU is the genre of music itself. Would love to see you sit down and talk with her one day. I’ve watch many of her interviews where she shared her thoughts about life/career/struggles etc. not only she’s a music genius but a very inspiring human being as well.

F(X) was so underrated despite the fact that their music always slaps. Their sound is very experimental so I get it but they deserved so much more than SM locking them in the dungeon. I usually don’t bother listening to Kpop groups albums except for groups that I actually really like. I never stanned F(X) as group but in my opinion, they had one of the best discography in Kpop of all time.
Iu wrote that whole song including the melody herself. It's a 5 track self compose album . Hope you get to react to it. And oh btw iu is the one whistling.

It's too bad that Miss A disbanded the way they did. They were a talented bunch of people. Unfortunately due to JYP's mismanagement, they were not able to reach their full potential as a group.

Thanks for properly using the word "mismanagement"! I see people over use "mistreatment" for things like comeback promotions, when there have been actual cases of terrible abuse in the industry. Both words seem similar, but the gravity of them is not so easily interchangeable.
Miss A were a gem! I do wish we had seen them stick around for a little while longer.

I agree that there should be distinction between "mistreatment" and "mismanagement". Slave contracts, companies refusing to give artists days off, staff physically assaulting the artists etc should be classified as mistreatment, but Miss A was definitely a case of mismanagement. JYP should have promoted them more as a group instead of focusing on just Suzy's solo activities. I have a feeling Suzy's special treatment might have also created friction within the group. Unfortunately, the group had to suffer because of his poor decisions.

their whole discography is a pure gem, one of the best discography in entire kpop industry. their 2nd studio album "Pink Tape" was named "the best kpop album of decade" by Billboard.

I highly suggest checking out F(x)'s discography especially the album "Pink Tape". You guys will see how versatile the girls are and their music. They truly were the experimental group and the sister group of SHINee. Definitely ahead of their time.
2nd GEN was called the Golden Age of KPOP for a reason!!! The groups will forever be ICONIC.

Till this day I listen to 2nd gen the most, I was crazy about GGs, I would listen to anything lol so many amazing GGs: KARA, SNSD, T-Ara, BEG, 2NE1, SISTAR, f(x), Secret, 9Muses, After School, 4minute, Girls Day, Brave Girls, Apink, Dal Shabet, Rania, Rainbow, etc. 10 hours video when? 😂
Second gen was my childhood lol. You should check out Ailee and Lee Mujin's duet version of Heaven! I think you'll really enjoy it. Also Lee Mujin and Seori's duet on 'Lee Mujin Service', the whole episode is of them singing together and separately.
This is very nostalgic for long time K-pop fans. I even seen Sistar , IU and Miss A debut. By that time Girls Generation, Wonder Girls and Kara were the rivals.
Red Light is probably f(x)'s most divisive track. I understand why some people don't like it, but I absolutely adore it. For all the other girl groups nowadays that people love to tout as being experimental, none have ever released a TITLE TRACK like Red Light. I am so lucky to have seen it performed live.
More than title tracks though, just like with my other ult group (EXO), the place where f(x) truly shines are in their albums. Their b-sides are diverse and yet still cohesive. The 3 albums they released each year one after another - Pink Tape, Red Light, and 4 Walls - are 3 pinnacle girl group albums for me, albums I genuinely couldn't live without. Pink Tape is widely critically acclaimed, being the highest rated kpop album on Pitchfork and contains songs with elements of rock, doo-wop, disco and jazz. Red Light is its darker sister, where everything has a little more edge and grit to it, and a little more mystique. And finally 4 Walls is probably their most cohesive project, being an EDM-centric album for the most part, but exploring different facets of the genre and making for a very sophisticated album that I think would be approachable even to people completely unfamiliar with kpop.
f(x) are and always will be my favourite girl group. There is simply no one else like them and I doubt there ever will be.

The latter is currently active and is starring in an airing drama called 'tomorrow' that you could actually watch in netflix. That man aged so gracefully 🥰

f(x) is the first experimental group in kpop. The netizens were not ready for the electronic music back then. Every single release is different that you don't know what to expect in the next album. I'm not much on their title track but most of my playlist is their b-sides. Pink tape is their best album I think then red light and 4 walls.... Fun fact "when I'm alone" is written by carly rae jepsen and "no more" is the remake of boyfriend material by ariana grande.... 😊😊😊 Hope you check out more of their songs especially b-sides.

F(x) was the OG experimental group but the majority of their songs were actually VERY well received and loved. Red Light was actually the first time people were polarized on their comeback.
Their albums (this one included) were always amazing but this song had the community divided. This was prominently one of the songs that started kpops trend of seemingly disjointed songs.
Idk how to explain it but I loved f(x)‘s sound but I’m very much not a fan of SM’s 4th Gen experimental music. I wonder why.

There are several girl groups in 2nd gen and with different styles: from sweet, sexy, badass to quirky. You can check other artists esp the male 2nd gen idols dancing the signature moves from 2nd gen girl groups. They are really entertaining. :-)
yup, 2nd gen bg dancing the gg dances is one of the highlights of 2nd gen era, they did it in many popular tv shows,they started it ...and we dont see much of that in later eras

Efra is right IU debuted in 2008 so she is 2nd gen. Also 2AM is not a girl group they're a ballad boy group and the brother group to 2PM.

Sistar was one of the most successful girl groups, Sistar included 3 singers (Hyolyn - main vocal - Soyou and Dasom) and one rapper (Bora -main rapper and main dancer). People call Hyolyn Korean Beyonce because of her voacl also she knows one the best dancer in kpop and she can rap too. Hyolyn popular with her legendary stages she is the Queen of the stage you should check it out.

For Hush - Miss A, I think you heard that in a funny compilation of a boy group since Bambam made a cover with 3 others boy idols. And a lot of boys parodied the dance (Jungkook, Bambam …)
