I’ve also been using the Razor Shad for a few years, but the new ZMAN Goat and Billy Goat have been working for me on the Jackhammer 👍 I’ve caught some nice bass on the Picasso ShockBlade too with the BigBite Swimmon. I prefer non-paddle tail trailers for my chatterbaits, like you said I feel that it doesn't fight the fast vibration of the chatterbait and just pairs better. I fished the Swimon all last year for my trailer and love it. The only complaint I have is the hook will sometimes catch the holes in the tail. I have been eye balling the spunk shad and am excited to try it. I hadn't looked too much into the razor shad but like zman plastics alot so will probably have to get some of those to try out too. Great stuff!
I’ve fished the Swimon. Works well, but occasionally those small holes in the tail snag the chatterbait hook. Also fished the Spunk Shad, not a lot of success on it because there are no shad in my lakes-bass are feeding on bluegills. For me, the Zako is 100% my confidence trailer for chatterbaits. Killer trailer, Zako color my fav.
When the hook catches on the holes of Swimon, I just tear it free opening the hole and then it doesn't do it again, doesn't seem to negatively effect the performance 😉
Jackhammer and Zako hard to beat most of the time. The Swimon I have for my Fire Craw Jackhammer I haven’t thrown yet. Rage Craw for around wood or to mimic craw Missile Bait quiver is awesome on a Jackhammer as well as their Crawfather Pit Boss is pretty good I want to try the Deal
Kamikaze swim-on is by far my favorite although I throw a Zako from time to time. I’ve tried all of those except the Xzone adrenaline craw. Didn’t have much luck on the Spunk shad because I target bass that mostly feed on bluegill. The Kamikaze in chick magnet swirl, green pumpkin orange and blue flake and sunfish swirl are my favorites. You should try the Strike King KVD blade minnow it works well too. Similar to a Zako with a skinnier body.
The flush can be run weedless as well because the split belly allows for the body to push down on hook set... Atleast that's what I think happens.. I got a few flushed from a friend who didn't like the baby blue gill color ( he has more shad ,perch and other sunfish in his area I guess) But I like the blue gill. Especially for fall not. That bit of orange /red...with some earth tones is a great trailer for my firecraw chatterbait as the craw are seemingly changing colors I have been told.
They bit a bladed jig two weeks ago pretty hood here, but then we had two weeks of cold weather that knocked them back, should pick up again this week with a warming trend
Zman Project Z or Jackhammer with either a Big Bite Baits Swimon or Big Bite Bait Jerk Minnow. Im looking forward to trying the 6th Sense Flush also. When I use a soft jerk bait style trailer, I rig them belly up to help keep the bait lower in water column.
Some yes, these below would be good for swim jigs, because they have a swimming action, the straight or fork tail options not so much for Swim jigs.
