Yeah, I hate borrowing tools as well, they seem to always break and then you need to buy two of them. One to replace the borrowed and one for yourself. Your build is coming along nicely!
Do yourself a favor and mix up the micro balloons and the fairing compound get the consistency you want your mixture to be and then add the harder and mix the harder in.

Thank you I did that now and works great.
Add some wax in styrene to your skim coat mix and your sandpaper won't clog up.
