Our justice and prison system needs to be reformed. Prison should be a place you would rather die than go back to. There should be no peace in prison. It should not be comfortable in any way. Prisoners should be given enough food to survive, but not enough to gain weight and get big or muscular... they shouldn't have the satisfaction of developing a physique. The food they do get should be bland and tasteless. Every day should be agonizing and toilsome for them, performing all sorts of labor for 12 hours a day, with one day off per week. If they have repeated offenses beyond a reasonable limit, they should be stripped of citizenship and sent to a worse prison on an island and given a chance to earn their citizenship back later if their crimes aren't deserving of life imprisonment or capital punishment. Prison should be severe. We have reckless crime because no one fears consequences. People should leave prison looking thin, weakened, downtrodden, and constantly analyzing their behavior out of fear so as to never end up back in prison again. The only glimmer of light that should be available to them is a Bible in their cell they can read when they're not half asleep at the end of their day's work.
