It's all in the self awareness; the original show started in 2007, a year before the economy crashed and they still went on to have a million seasons and ten spin-offs. I think the difference is that they were messier, more open about the fact that they were out of touch (at times hamming it up). It was all about how ridiculous *everything* about their lives was ("Can you stop taking pictures of yourself, your sister is going to prison!") - not just because of their wealth, but because of their personalities but the people that they knew.
I feel like the major problem is they want to control the narratives by not addressing certain issues or scandals. They want to show a "perfect" lifestyle, they love playing the victims and the way they manipulate the media and their own show as to make everyone believe they're perfect. No one wants perfection anymore. People just want honesty and transparency.

The name wolf for her son was a decoy name, I believe, to avoid this happening again so she could get his real name trademarked before anyone knew about the name again and once she had them secure she announced his real name.

I think that the Kardashian/Jenner clan has gotten to the point where they believe that their simple existence is interesting enough to be the content we’re looking for. I'm from Colombia and I remember so well, one time I went to miami and saw the keeping up with the kardashians show on E!. They weren't famous, but was funny to see, I remembered thinking, so much fun to see all this sisters enjoying their family. But their show was only aired at US. I came back and nobody over here knew about them. Maybe a year later that show became global.

I feel like there's not much they can do at this point to come back unless they do a complete 180. People today like real, honest, and relatable. Every time they try to be relatable now it's blocked by their popularity and wealth. The clips I've seen from their Hulu series demonstrate that with Khloe trying to talk about how hard it is for her to be in public and Kendall talking about her anxiety and Kim trying to convince everyone she works so hard. It's tired and exhausting to listen to. I'm sure they have these struggles but today people don't really care to hear people like them complain about how hard their life is, it is severely out of touch with what the average person is experiencing and even farther removed from the younger generations; the Kardashians have every resource available to them and then some. Not to mention again all the scandals and rumors they've never addressed. Guaranteed they'd gain more popularity I think if they decided to be honest for once in their career to connect with fans instead of putting up these fake "look at me" personnas. The more they try to seem relatable the less authentic it seems as it feels ironically, inauthentic and just a money & relevance grab.

Okay okay the only thing I say with their new show is that one episode Kim said that people were more curious about the behind the scenes of their work life and what they actually do day by day. So I ~think~ that was their way of giving the audience what they wanted instead of the fake story lines of drama and hijinks like they did with keeping up. KUWTK was all story lines but I remember during the pandemic people were just like “we can tell this is fake these are fake arguments with each other” so I believe the new show was to switch the perspective to their work life but they have to find a new balance.
I'm just imagining this family multiple times a day going "Wait! We can't do this right now, we have to save it for the show!" or "Don't post the baby name! We'll get viewers on the show with that!!"

I'm tired of celebs trying to come off as relatable. They aren't. Showing us instagram photos of toast or of children playing will never convince me they're relatable. And they shouldn't be forced into being relatable. This is just my opinion and I don't condemn u, tho😊.

i watched the hulu show out of curiosity of how they treat kourtney and the show was so boring. boooorrrring. between kourt n travis kissing, koko the clown, kim feeling entitled to a dead womans dress, kendall trying too hard to talk about how much she cares about health and kylie was barely there….like ugh lol. time wasted

The reason Kylie kept changing her son's name is because when Stormi was announced as her daughter's name, these companies trademarked and copyrighted things that had stormis name in them for example like "Stormi baby" or something like that so that she couldn't use Stormi's name on any products in the future. These companies would then sell the trademarks to Kylie for millions. The name wolf for her son was a decoy name, I believe, to avoid this happening again so she could get his real name trademarked before anyone knew about the name again and once she had them secure she announced his real name.

I’m so glad you said They really don’t actually share anything on the show. Kylie was being cheated on the whole time and it’s never addressed. Considering how explosive Kim and Kanye’s divorce was…we really didn’t get much on the show. The only ppl who have their business out there are khloe and rob and that bc their dog others are lose cannons who spill everything on social media.

I think that the Kardashian/Jenner clan has gotten to the point where they believe that their simple existence is interesting enough to be the content we’re looking for. Which is why we see somewhat staged storylines, constant branding, and lackluster series episodes. We want to see them doing things, not just seeing them.
Been rewatching Keeping Up and I noticed that there's a distinct point where they become so unrelatable that it's truly difficult to watch past that point

I'm from Colombia and I remember so well, one time I went to miami and saw the keeping up with the kardashians show on E!. They weren't famous, but was funny to see, I remembered thinking, so much fun to see all this sisters enjoying their family. But their show was only aired at US. I came back and nobody over here knew about them. Maybe a year later that show became global.

I feel like there's not much they can do at this point to come back unless they do a complete 180. People today like real, honest, and relatable. Every time they try to be relatable now it's blocked by their popularity and wealth. The clips I've seen from their Hulu series demonstrate that with Khloe trying to talk about how hard it is for her to be in public and Kendall talking about her anxiety and Kim trying to convince everyone she works so hard. It's tired and exhausting to listen to. I'm sure they have these struggles but today people don't really care to hear people like them complain about how hard their life is, it is severely out of touch with what the average person is experiencing and even farther removed from the younger generations; the Kardashians have every resource available to them and then some. Not to mention again all the scandals and rumors they've never addressed. Guaranteed they'd gain more popularity I think if they decided to be honest for once in their career to connect with fans instead of putting up these fake "look at me" personnas. The more they try to seem relatable the less authentic it seems as it feels ironically, inauthentic and just a money & relevance grab.

Okay okay the only thing I say with their new show is that one episode Kim said that people were more curious about the behind the scenes of their work life and what they actually do day by day. So I ~think~ that was their way of giving the audience what they wanted instead of the fake story lines of drama and hijinks like they did with keeping up. KUWTK was all story lines but I remember during the pandemic people were just like “we can tell this is fake these are fake arguments with each other” so I believe the new show was to switch the perspective to their work life but they have to find a new balance.
I dont think people should be that invested in other peoples lives. Am surprised they lasted this long, well done them.

also, on your opening, I learned in my gender studies class that "gossip" being an inherently bad thing is a misogynistic take. aside from the fact that what you do wouldn't even fall under gossip and more pop culture commentary, men "talk shop" while women "gossip". women's wellbeing in life is based more on people skills and social reputation, so women are more likely to talk about other people in both good and bad ways. it can be used to break down or uplift others as well as ourselves. actually, women are more likely to gossip in good ways, saying so-and-so is soo great while they're not in the room. this uplifts both the other woman because now others think better of her while also uplifting the speaker because she's such a nice person for saying nice things about so-and-so while they're not around, and they're both more likely to get more opportunities.
