The ''lines'' can also be seen as a descendance, the sonnet recommending to procreate in order to save this beauty of theirs. It's a common theme in the sonnets written to or for this person.

It would be wonderful to see you dedicate a series of analysis to Shakespeare’s sonnets...if I had more teachers like you I would been a Shakespeare fanatic by now! (Better late than never!)
i am a software engineer. i started reading Shakespeare at someone's recommendation. then i watched your video. i love Shakespeare and your explanation. you are just brilliant i must say.
What a poem. Excellent analysis. I am always struck--in a society so bent on esteeming and exonerating Change (watch any BBC nature documentary)--by how fundamental our desire for eternity seems. We would have to close our eyes to the obvious import of poems like this one in order to value Change as the central significance of life (as does the BBC nature documentary "Life"). Nothing against BBC documentaries; I'm wonderfully addicted to them. But the poetry of the everlasting is undeniable. I would love to see a follow up video analyzing Keats' "Ode to a Nightingale," to see these two poems in conversation about art. Keep it up!
listening to this b4 my class on New cristism. the contrasts and the unity of this poem is in this. the contrast of comparing the subject of the sonnet to something temporary yet telling that they are eternal makes this sort of unity in the end especially in the couplet.
O' sir! This is an exemplary explanation. I would love to study more of Shakespeare's Sonnets through your marvelous teaching skills. Please bring more such videos. Waitinggggg desperately. ❤❤
I am not good at literature, not good at analyzing it, that's why I don't like it. But you changed my mind. I was struck by the meaning behind this sonnet. Though I am not good at this field, it makes me want to explore more and thanks for those people who explains this to me. And this also help me in my studies. Thank you very much.
I found it very difficult to understand this sonnet until now. excellent analysis. after understanding the sonnet from your analysis, im in love with this one. its actually an amazingly wonderful piece. wow!! just wow!!!! could you pleeeeeeaaaase do ode to a Skylark by P.B.Shelly?
i love this... simply beautiful! my favorite line: rough winds do shake the darling buds of may- that one could argue she herself is not always good such as a scorching summer

Hey Mr. Huff, we would like to thank you for this wonderful analysis of Shakespeare‘s sonnet!! We are students from Germany and your video was magnificent! Hopefully, our teacher will like our presentation next week. :)
As far as I’m aware, most Shakespearian Scholars are in agreement that the person that is being referred to in this poem is male. I have no idea why choose to interpret that person as female.
