This is not the real cloud guitar, it's made by schecter. You can see it in the details. It's a lower profile copy of the real one, built by Husain in Minneapolis. The difference is like day and night...the price also though...
+Mars Wabisabi The luthier's name is David RUSAN. He made the original one, which was designed by Prince himself and Jeff Hill at Knut Koupee music store in the late 70's. Everybody gets this wrong, and it just kills me. The original white one is now in the Smithsonian. Dozens of copies were made for Prince to tour with, and the blue one you see here was done by another luthier. Who the fuck is "Husain"?
@@mamachip ,the Cloud wasn't designed by Prince,he just ordered a guitar in the same form as the Sardonix bass,hw owned.Dave Rusan made the redesign to the guitar form,we all now know as the Cloud. That's why Dave has now the designrights to this guitar, not to the name.
Yup, that was one of two Dave Rusan-made custom numbers, he smashed the other one at the very last gig of the "Purple rain" tour Prince still owns that Rusan but he has it refinished in blue. But he as the others mentioned, also has copies of that guitar made by Schecter guitar research and Austrian luthier Jerry Auerswald.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I find the Telecaster horrible and I'm nowhere near from enjoying the Strat or the LP designs... Even worse, I don't like painted guitars... Nevermind, all that counts for me are sound then ergonomics!!!
I can see why comments are questioning our saying it's blue instead of purple, but, it is actually BLUE, not purple. The lighting is giving everything in this video a reddish cast.
Any serious luthier can make it, including as a 1 piece body with neckthru construction... There are more than 400 making guitars in France, many are freaking competitive making awesome 'CSMH' job for the price of series guitars, moreover, guitar design falls under industrial property => after 20 years, you can copy any design.
There is no "best guitar", what can sound great for one can be deplorable played by another, what plays great for some hand won't for some other!!! Moreover, there are many one of a kind instruments built to customer's specs/needs, or that are pretty rare... You simply can't have tried anything and again, it's idiosyncratic! Some will tell you the best guitar ever is the Fender Strat or the Gibson LesPaul... I owned a Fender Strat for 9 years, my reaction when I sold her? GOOD RIDDANCE!!! And... "At least I didn't lost money re-saling it". LesPaul? Necks are too small for my hands+fingers, I don't care! I already have a really nice collection, mos of these are really uncommon, some are very rare, some are unique and their common point is even if some were very cheap (the Ibanez and the Danos that were made in China), all are freaking great guitars you can use on any world-class big production. I even could try some Prince owned-guitars before these were shipped by some of his European luthiers. Prince definitively received top notch guitars, no fuss, but I definitively don't have to be jealous : my luthiers ALL have world-class guitarists and bassists as clients, and... I prefer my two Passion III-90/10 (42 or 48 built) over ANYTHING I EVER TRIED !!! Same thing for my fretless bass and my padouk bass... And I intended enough clinics, master-classes, conventions and salons to perfectly know the kind of quality the world's most famous guitarists get. I'd absolutely LOVE to get an Auerswald or a Dubreuille, as well as from many other guitar makers, e.g. Teufel, I still lament not having had the €6500 for the 17" archtop made by a Dutch luthier, out of a 50,000 years old kauri wood, I even regretted not having spent $2500 at getting a slab enough for 2 basses or 3 solid body guitars : all I've heard made from this wood sounded absolutely insane! All your body hairs went straight on 1st note and you've never heard anything like that, as well you've never heard the Passion III-90/10 : someone told me : playing a 1959 LP feels like making love. Playing my (red) PIII feels like committing a rape! zupimages.net/up/21/38/agab.jpg
+graham white I wanna say about 8yrs or so ago, you could buy replicas of his cloud guitars, I think if you go on different web sites or google, you will be able to find 1. I think they were going for about 4 grand, I hope that help you .
you should be ashamed, fooling people as this is a Prince cloud. This is one from a dutch builder and Prince NEVER played a bold on neckplate on a cloud...
The original white cloud and two back ups were made by Dave Rusan, Prince smashed that first one (THAT one, the one from the movie, at the end of the "Parade" tour which also was the final show he did with the Revolution) And later had the other ones refinished in peach and in Blue, Prince retired them from road use. Because... i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx218/MMikeyBee/Prince%20and%20related/HQ_050993_Mainz_01.jpg So in the nineties Prince Commissioned luthier Andy Beech to make no less than 27 Clouds, so his stash wouldn't dry out. www.king5.com/entertainment/television/programs/evening/princes-guitars-made-by-a-washingtonian/160557497 And this one in the video is one of those guitars Beech made for Prince and it was anything but crappy.
You know what you should do with a guitar? Play it!
Definitely purple for the purple man himself! shame you didnt plug it in
When Prince comes out after the long intro to Purple Rain at Syracuse playing this guitar just totally blows me away even today
"In BLUE..." Yeah... _that's_ not the most embarrassing gaffe a guitar salesman ever made...
Jesse Cole yeah...he played "Blue Rain" on that one 😂
"in BLUE" hahahahahaha
I would like to buy this
Wow that’s a real one. It has the long horn on the headestock. Also it is not typical fender scale it is 24.75” like a Gibson.

I think Phiippe Dubreuille also built some for him, same era he did the Batguitar.
It's purple not blue
these people are just dumb
I like how the neck is bent
mm acording to what I heard they were guitars made by Shecter just for the Hardrock café, but PRince never played them

It’s Purple/Blue Prince Had A Few Clouds Made In The Color So With The Light It Changes And I Think That’s Super Cool That He Thought Of That

looking for a cloud or symbol guitar. anyone know where I can get one?
***** thank you for the links! I found another place and they were able to make me a symbol replica. I think I'm gonna have a cloud one made later on.
***** I think that's the main reason why I didn't buy it from there :)

Do a sound demo dammit!
Why don't they plug these guitars in so we can hear them? What is this bullshit?
Hey!!! Turn on that beauty!!!
Is that the best guitar and guitar review EVER?

graham white His cloud guitar was made by Dave Rusan at Rusan Guitar Works in Bloomington, Minnesota.

auerswals Never made a cloud guitar for Prince, he made the symbol guitar and the model C
@@maneeshasingh8791 : some were made by Dubreuille, Rusan, Gus, and MANY others.
The guitar look very sexy
is it a Shecter ?
No it's an Andrew Beech made cloud, Beech Clouds have the back plate they point out in this clip.
its so thin!!! what the hell
damn it's terriböe in the hands of mere mortals...
No sound demo seems a little bit dumb...
isnt that an aluminum valencia guitar
No it's a Veleno guitar.
it's a "prince guitar" so it's...blue? blue.
Tommy McCracken yes, prince can be seen in videos playing a white cloud, yellow cloud, peach cloud, blue cloud and black cloud. No purple cloud.

Prince does purple rain, not blue rain. The guitar was purple, not blue.
Nope.
