Because during his prime he didnt win major title with Valencia despite scoring hundreds of goal for the club. He only won 1 league title throughout his career which is during his short time at River plate. His lack of title has nothing to do with his ability, but it affected his legacy in long term. Batistuta didnt win alot of major trophy at club level either but he remains popular because serie A was very competitive at the time and hugely popular worldwide. Kempes on other hand, only played in La liga and Primera division almost his entire career. He's definetely among top 5 best players during the 70s. He was top scorer for four consecutive seasons between 1974-1978, winning golden boots twice in Primera division ,twice in La liga and then at the World cup.

Didn't turn that well, although he had a professional career, he couldn't establish himself in the NHL. His little brother however, Adrian Kempe, has become a freaking scoring machine for the Los Angeles Kings. I always found it funny to see a "Kempe" scoring goals and more goals on the ice, only today did I notice that the Swedish Kempes actually knew and cared about the Argentinian Kempes.
