Which coolant for a 300Tdi?

- There's a choice between blue or pink anti-freeze/coolant.
See options: www.lrworkshop...
Traditionally, the blue 2 year stuff is what was specified, but later vehicles from 1999 were specified to use the OAT pink stuff. Some people say you shouldn't mix the two, but a hosepipe engine flush would be enough to clear out the old stuff to prevent this supposing mixing them can cause problems.

Spot on, a good flush and it's no drama! Vehicles after 1998 had OATS red coolant.
Indeed, I'm using RED antifreeze (along with drinking water, not tap water). I was told that RED stuff is thinner. So, I'd expect less clogs but more leaks 🤔 Right?
Where about does Land Rover day you can use OAT in a 300tdi? I ask as a garage has recently replaced my coolant with the pink OAT you show here after replacing my timing belt. Considering flushing and replacing with blue, as you say, what is associated with a 300tdi
It's in the 1999 (and 2002 export) Defender owner's manual LRL0336ENG:
"Use Havoline Extended Life Coolant (XLC), or any ethylene glycol based anti-freeze (containing no
methanol) with only Organic Acid Technology (OAT) corrosion inhibitors."
LR Workshop & Expedition Thanks a lot for this, very helpful. I, like many others I think, go off the 1997 workshop manual for the 300tdi. I haven’t actually found a place to download the later editions you reference online, for free that is anyway.
