My older sister made fun of me for watching the tv show as a little girl just because the tv show is just for little kids and not older kids or adults even though I loved Dora and just like Dora, I had the exact same hair as her but now she’s nostalgic but the tv show is too cringy for me as an adult but I love the movie just because it reminded me of why I was such a huge dora fan as a kid.

I LOVED this movie!! As a mom who “suffered” (more like a guilty pleasure) through this show with my kids when they were little, it was a blast taking my 7 year old and her friend to the theatre blasting the old corny songs, and then to watch a movie with so much nostalgia (the drug scene was precious!!), it was a blast!! So much better than I expected ❤️

I'm 40 and I enjoyed the movie. It's fun and colorful. Plus it's funny whenever she talks to the audience. Never gets old.
Also Stuckmann's right about Dora's enthusiasm. It's infectious. I think among current movies trying hard to be dark and realistic, fiction needs more movies like Dora.

I was planning on hanging up my hat. The last case had taken everything away from me. I turned to the bottle. It embraced me in a way no woman ever had. I was filling a hole in my heart with whatever whiskey I could buy cheap.
That's when I heard a scratching at my door before the doggy door began flapping.
There she was. A beautiful blue heeler with an almost humanlike ability to emote. She walked up to my desk and licked my hand before walking back to the door whining. I could tell by the look she gave me she was nothing but trouble but I had to help her. I stumbled towards the door lighting my last cigarette. Opening the door I reach to the right and grab my notebook off the bookshelf and place it in my back pocket.

I am a parent of a kid who grew up with everything Dora... and I loved it. It is SUPER self aware and I was looking forward, from scene to scene, wondering what deep dive fun they were going to make of themselves. But ya if you never saw the cartoon... it's probably not that great.

I also watched blues clues too, and for some reason i watched WAY more of that... But it was still, in the end, background noise to me...
@@BroAnarchy By self aware, I mean that the film consistently knows that is based off a little kids cartoon but aimed at those who have seen the cartoon (I would argue that the target audience was teens and parents of those teens). Its really a parody of the OG IP and acts like it. My kid grew up on Dora, so I was subjected to it ALOT and it was satisfying to see the movie take digs at the cartoon while still being a 'grown up' Dora adventure. But if you didn't see a lot of Dora there was probably a lot you missed.
I give you props Chris for being able to efficiently review movies in a timely manner. I've been waiting for a few others to hear their opinion of movies like Dora and the Lost City of Gold but they've failed to deliver. Much props to you man and I think I'll continue watching your movie review videos more than theirs.

There's a difference in movies for kids and movies that focus on kids as main audience
Why? Kids can have movies. Do you really want a Dora the Explorer for adults? No, it was a kids show and should stay that way. Kids have different needs and wants for film. Sometimes you can have a movie that is a family movie so both kids and adults can enjoy it, but it doesn't always need to be that.

I feel like the argument that it’s a kids movie so it’s okay to be bad isn’t necessarily valid. It’s a movie and if a movie is bad then it’s bad. We can look at a “child’s movie” like ET and recognize to some extent that it is brilliant. It had many awards for its sound and musical score like the Golden Globe Award for best original score in 1983 and the Academy Award for best sound editing also in 1983. What I’m trying to say is the standard shouldn’t be lowered because just because demographic is children.

Yes anyone that cannot enunciate like many people in the cities of the East Coast will think those two words rhyme. It actually is an insult to people's intelligence to title a show that and perpetuate that kind of bad diction in a show that is supposed to be educational.
Big Shots 1987 was the kid movie I saw as a kid that I thought was great. Loved Paul Winfield, " I can walk on water, eat bullets and shit ice cream." Still cracks me up!
I think it was a joke for spanish speaking audiences because the title for us is "Dora La ExploraDORA" So you are not wrong, that sounds better ;)
This is a better big screen adaptation than all anime movies produced by Hollywood.
All anime, we produced by Hollywood or anywhere else, is cheap looking mass-produced crap that anybody with a tiny bit of artistic challenge could replicate. The stories might be good, but the animation is complete garbage.
