Once heard a guy I went to high school with play this on the electronic piano. Blew my mind. People started to gather around, singing the lead and background vocals as he played. Unbelievable. Calling it heavenly doesn't even do it justice. Hearing solo versions of songs like this by Stevie reveals even more about his genius.....
I love the way the tambourine follows the snare. It has a gospel feel to it. Love this song because it reminds of the break up with Syreeta and how it changed the course of both their lives. The answer to this song is "Just a little piece of you" from her album. Great music comes from love's heartache and joy.
Because of my parent's stereo, I know them better than I know myself, especially the songs from the BIG 5 (Music of My Mind, Talking Book, Innervisions, Fulfillingness' First Finale, and Songs In The Key Of Life). But "Aint No Use" is remarkable because of how it clarifies life and love so well. Our lives are filled with endings, sometimes just like the one in this song, and "Aint No Use" confesses and repents, regrets, sacrifices, praises and remembers, before dying for the sake of salvation. In other words, love never ends, even after the final goodbye. That's called church.
Starting to think I should just tell my so called "boyfriend" to take a listen to this...along with Angie Bofill's "I Try." He SHOLL ain't understanding.
