    45 minutes to an hour are just right . Don’t mind longer vids, just have a hard time finding time to watch in one sitting. When that’s the case I just have to come back to it later. Looking forward to the rest of the builds. That’s what I like about these video. Not just getting them running and move on to the next one , but following through with some kind of build.

    Depending on particularly looking for in the actual wrecker assemblies. Howie's in the central eastern state region there's more than one yard with a bunch of old weckers in them. I like this series. I've got a 68 that used to be a RV. Winnebago bought the cab and chassis directly from GMC. 1-ton dually. Longer bed area .

    You have an amazing inventory of cars worth sweating over. I started my business with a 69 GMC like the one you have today and it kept me going during the hardest time starting out when money is the tightest. They are fixable and I could fix it all from engine rebuild, electronics, tranny upgrade under a shade tree and keep going. Today the only one who wants to talk to me about my Tundra repair is a salesman wanting to sell me a new one. The electronics on the new ones scare even great mechanics. Nice job in making me feel envious although I still have my GMC and plan to glam her up so I can keep driving when my Tundra needs another small thing that will take a month for the fix. That tranny should be a Muncie with a bull low that can pull a house off its foundation.

    I am assuming those are press in rocker studs? If so, you will need to keep an eye on the lash, that much water may cause the studs to loosen. Being a fresh motor it's not as likely, but still. The microphone sounds great. Keep up the awesome content.

    did you drop the oil pan and clean it and the oil pump out and blow air through the push rods? i would have soaked the lifters, rocker arms and push rods in oil. then dumped a bottle of break in lube over the cam. this is going to be a cool project.

    Yoi may want to pull it back apart before you try to start it. The rings are going to be full of rust . Just pull it apart fully and re assemble. Check your bottom end also. It will be full of rust from the water. Pull the oil pan!!!!!

    A scope, or perhaps even a twig, should tell you if there are mud dauber nests in the cylinders, without buying a new head gasket set. Listening and feeling while turning by hand might tell you as well.
    Do mud dauber nests also dissolve in any oil or solvent? and if so, could they have been dissolved out of the cylinders? thereby saving the head gaskets? How much are head gaskets?

    If that was my engine I would tear it down to bare block pressure wash the heck out of the block and heads and clean all the bearings and start from new reusing everything but adding new break in lube on everything just to make sure everything is clean and is good because who knows what has been where. I'm surprised that thing has over 400 HP with cast iron heads and flat top pistons I got a few crate engines 355ci and it looks like that engine except I have aluminum heads with angle plug heads and it's pushing 355HP the only way I think it would be over 400 is if the thing is stroked out to a 383 i'm not sure what the heads are but they are not even vortec heads by the looks of them or they would have the center holes for the valve covers. To me it looks like a 350hp block but I could be wrong.

  • @79tazman
    @79tazman ปีที่แล้ว

    You really should pull the pan and clean everything up there since there was water in it because being a fresh engine is a lot different then a old well worn engine you can spin a bearing real quick on a new engine compared to a worn engine anyway hope it works out for you and it breaks in good but there is a chance of bad things going on like braking rings and spinning bearings and the cam not breaking in properly and flattening a lobe or two.

    I bet the original engine in that truck was a 454 or a 402 because I can not see a small block in it being a tow truck plus it being a 1 ton too the small block would of not had the torque needed to be a tow truck in my opinion but you never know.
