Bad news, they made a port of a Touhou fangame for something you will never have due to absurd prices. No new ports to anything else, no new CAVE games.
@Donhimesama Daifutari Fantastic Danmaku Festival 2 on Steam. The port they made is for eXA Arcadia and is named Perfect Sakura Fantastica if I remember correctly.
Thanks for the list, this 14 minute video took me about an hour to watch. Had to keep popping back to my MAME to see what I had. I was only missing two games, Death Smiles II and the last DoDonPachi. I really liked Death Smiles the most though.
I've been playing a lot of a recent bullet hell game called Super Crome lately. The creator of Super Crome (available on steam) took a lot of influence from cave games - it's really cools seeing these games.
@@RuV9999 good news, you can use shmuparch to play Ketsui and Espgaluda 1. We definitely need a Futari and Akai port I agree with you there. I’m itching to play Futari bad on PC
great list & showcase. only showed 21. as far as i can tell there are 24 cave arcade games. think you're missing: 1. Deathsmiles MegaBlack Label (dsmbl) 2. Puzzle Uo Poko (uopoko) 3. Steep Slope Sliders (sss) that should get you all 24 that I am aware of...
hmmmm yeah i hope so. but if they instead making it mobile game. i hope they don't make the gameplay is full of sucide bullet as a main threat and instead make something seems like "Aka to Blue" difficulty (Game made by Tanoshimasu Developer that imo the best bullet hell game on mobile i have ever played)
I love CAVE games and have played almost all of these, but watching this really drills in how much fan service driven it became especially after Deathsmiles. Fighting giant, transforming robot defense school-like girls in DaiFukkatsu was really bizarre when you look back and compare it to Ketsui.
Completely agreed but hey, can you blame them? Touhou was excessively popular and shmups died as far as mainstream goes almost 30 years ago. Unironically the best selling games they created were those attempting to broaden the appeal (Mushi and Deathsmiles).
Making above average mobile gachapon games with a watered down but still fun version of the dodonpachi games that and a lot of ecchi (sexual humor or just sexual) stuff
@@roasty80 mame can't emulate the slowdown, and even if you modify the blitter delay it's not emulated correctly and it's still really harder than the arcade or port version.
They still haven't dumped Unlimited (SaiDaiOujou), but they apparently got their hands on the PCB, so it should be done in the coming years. I'm moreso hoping for Skycurser dump as well.
So about 4 months ago I got into Touhou as my first real game in the genre and I absolutely love the series to death. Been looking to expand on the genre a bit and I heard Cave was a great one. Curious if anyone has any suggestions on where the best place to start with this series would be?
It's a later reply but Guwange might be a good transition game. It's mostly slow bullet hell with some friendly game mechanics. Of course it's still a Cave game so it will give plenty of punishment at times.
let us all not forget that cave made a smartphone port Sai Dai Ou Jou, it was a shitty port infested with MTXs and they let " mobirix " one of the shittiest smartphone publishers handle the publishing. :) shows you just how much they respect their games and their fans.
Cave is absolutely a good companie when it comes to making games... Sorta (Their ports ALWAYS have something failing), but that's ok, they seem to fix everything in a couple days with patches, no problems. But in how they make merchandise, number of copies, how they even threat their fans and how much they fail in porting the game to other consoles is... Really obnoxiously horrible. Good companiy but is absolutely one of the worst in the STG territory
Totally agree, i'm an old school arcade fan and fondly remember Toaplan's 80s games like Flying Shark, Twin Cobra etc....but as Cave, after DonPachi they mostly became over the top and too boring/repetitive. I always much prefered side -scrollers, like Gradius / R-Type any hows. I'm not in to bullet pattern worship, I generally like shmups based on atmosphere, diverse level design/bosses and interactive terrain etc.
Donpachi’s original soundtrack was poor quality (the arcade version). Not the ear-bleeding awful kind of poor quality I mean sounds like it was recorded off of a cell phone from 2003 and was posted on TH-cam back in 2007. I don’t want to steer anyone wrong it’s an awesome soundtrack but unfortunately the arcade version has poor audio fidelity. Thankfully the home console versions of that game had a higher quality soundtrack.
Great games & design concepts, but didn't like the the modern bullet sprays & bonus chain systems. I prefer their old games with sprite based bullets. Also in these games there's way too much going on, with bullets, explosions & bonuses all at one time on screen. This is my favourite genre though shoot em ups. Some of the 3D concepts were also ace.
I used to really like Cave. But I still resent the fact that they did not update their old ios games to ios11 making them unplayable and a waste of money.
It would be interesting to see a mini Cave console. 24 games packed in one "bullet hell" experience.
I’ve been a long time Cave fan for 2 months now.
:'(
Their games should be ported to EVERYTHING...FOREVER!
RIP CAVE... You will be missed... thank you for the great games.
i have good news for you
The touhou creator allow Cave to make official games
They are making new game

I just love their 32bit sprite based graphics...
i cant wait what CAVE will do with Touhou now , as an Cave and Touhou fan I am super excited
What a video! Great memories…… total beasty actions
Here’s to hoping “Ibara” gets a port to consoles at some point.
God, Mushihimesama is so fucking good. A work of art.
Dai-ou-jou also has one of my favorite pieces of cover art from a game, ever. Thank you, Cave!

one of the best gaming companies ever
Cave needs to get back to making SHMUPs; that's their DNA.
@ciaran perry Begone, heathen!
They do one thing but they do it really well.
Some amazing games there
i love Mushihimesama futari
FEL me too!
The older games sprites look so much better and crispier.
Gotta love the slow down !
I was like "ok, they are hard games, but nothing impossible"...
Then I saw Espgaluda 2.
I hope there will be more Cave shooter on PC!
I need Akai Katana/Ketsui/Mushihimesama futari and ESPGaluda so bad!

2:01 - the magnificent far-off year of 2018 AKA last year
Uhhh... is it me or is the sound on some of the clips switched around?
came here after Cave acquired the IP for Touhou. now let's hope it isn't going to be a Japanese exclusive mobile game

great clip with cool trivia
I love Guwange
So far only 1 cave game made it to ps4
Cave soon will make shooter rpg mix game
5:42 never heard it sound like that before
looks like they aquired rights to Touhou. This could be interesting.
yup they did and I can't wait
and Gothic wa Mahou Otome was their lastest game they're have produce (it has the same universe from Deathsmile)
Cave 💕👍

Still pretty awesome tho
They are coming back with a black label DDPSDOJ
Where is the Knuckles?
Is there anyway to put a Cave shump emulator onto the PC ?
Mame
What are they doing now?

Tarot readings and NFTs
why does the mushihimesama games have the wrong sounds in this video? Emulation issues?
Possibly, every Cave game seems to be messes up on emulators atm.
Arcade game emulation is, to put it simply, a trashfire. It's hella buggy with lots of games having issues particularly with Sound and Timing
It hurts to see someone playing so bad.
I'm still waiting for a port for PC of Mushihimesama Futari
Same

yeah it can. even some of Cave's tittles are playable on MAME
You can and you can also play it on the PGM cartridge based Arcade board.
6 years with no new game?
They made a smart phone game 6ish months ago. Non shooter thou
