  • The Messthetics are an instrumental trio featuring Brendan Canty (drums), Joe Lally (bass), and Anthony Pirog (guitar). Canty and Lally were the rhythm section of the band Fugazi from its inception in 1987 to its period of hiatus in 2002 and this is the first band they’ve had together since then. Pirog is a jazz and experimental guitarist based in Washington, D.C. On April 15, they recorded this in-studio performance for KXCI in Tucson at Hotel Congress. Produced and hosted by Hannah Levin, engineered by Duncan Hudson and Dana Fehr. Filmed by Julius Schlosburg. Camera Assistants: Janine Kaufer and Casey O’Brien.

met Ian Svenonius in Italy a few weeks ago. according to him, fugazi wanted to do a reunion and even did a few rehearsals. apparently, they realized they would never be as good as they were, so they gave up :/

That was pretty badass, it didn't matter a slightest that there were no vocals.

Now we're talking...I just now heard about these guys and realize that it's two guys from Fugazi! It even sounds a little like Fugazi in places too.
