If takara and fanstoys got together, it's a wrap. Takaras toon design and Fantoys quality and build. I love takaras Hound, but it's so light. The plastic is not great. Same with their Arcee. Takaras trailbreaker looks really good, but I went with fanstoys. Their skyfire looks really good, but I went with fanstoys. See the pattern?
I have both FT and TT Skyfire and honestly, I prefer TT take. I had XTB, FT and TT Trailbreaker and kept TT as I sold both my XTB and FT versions. Had XTB had better shoulders I would had kept XTB over the 3. To me, FT Trailbreaker is probably the worst of the 3 but has the best build while XTB, other than the stupid shoulders, looks fantastic in both modes. TT looks the most accurate to the cartoon but is the worst when it comes to build quality. However, I'm a toon person so TT wins. It really depends on what you're wanting in your collection. Oh, I don't have FT Arcee but, I do have TT and MMC Arcee and TT looks fantastic as she looks way better in person. Either way, I had no interest in FT Arcee and was waiting on TT so I'm happy.
@saysoun752 I agree with the arcee. I may still pick up the Takara Skyfire because I'm hearing good things, plus the toon accuracy is serious. I do love the heft of the Fanstoys version however.
I basically stopped buying Takara MPs when I started collecting Fanstoys in 2016. Every MP should have some diecast. FT just delivers exactly what I want in an MP. Takara's Arcee is great but for a few things; her long-chinned face, abrupt chest angle, weird shaped feet, and big chubby fingers (I'd rather have interchangable fixed-pose hands).
at 5:39 - I don't really like when it matches the animation, except in a few special cases - Ironhide, Ratchet, and Trailbreaker's face notably. Otherwise, I really wish the animation were as detailed as the diaclone toy was, and the transformation on-screen matched the toy better. For Hound, though, the MP use of fake wheels is why I didn't buy it. I don't know if I'll get the Earthrise version either for how it handled the transformation. It would've been better (Earthrise) if the legs unfolded, with a front-flap shin that resembled the diaclone toy, and the foot folding out from the bottom back of the jeep, and leave the back of the jeep as the back of the toy, and fold the wheels to the back. It'd be more screen accurate and the resultant toy could be more accurate to the diaclone.
I had my reservations about MP51 Arcee but once I got it in hand.....it's one of my favorite figures in my collection! Amazingly photogenic and poseable!
Top 3 reviewers: #3: Tydirium Hanger (Good variety and personality) #2: Deluxe Baldwin (love the focus on legends) #1: TM Reviews ( love the details and his professionalism)...Honorable Mentions: Emgo (Transformations), Bobby Skullface (Personality) and Memo224 (legends scale, professionalism)
Peep Toys Are Russ .he has the biggest collection ive ever seen on a TH-cam channel..Crazy collection G1 variants, errors, manufacturers,Japanese etc.Its insane
@jaysonlee4394 Oh yeah! He's good, too. I'm subscribed to him and like his videos. There are a few others I watch for reviews, too, but I didn't want to have a super long comment. Thanks for chiming in. I appreciate it. 😊
I worry about Jobby. Notice how he always “jokes” that he’s depressed? In his videos, many times, he will put MP-36 Megatron in alt-mode in his mouth to pretend to un-alive himself. I hope he gets the help he needs.
The last Takara engineered figure that really did something special was the Inferno etc with the folding inside ladder, that nobody else had done. Prior to that, their last win would be way back in MP13. The upcoming missing link will hopefully bring a bit more Takara magic tho to vintage G1 scale. MP36 does deserve a special Takara mention because it's only for them we got his alt mode, as Hasbro wouldn't have done it.
Excellent Mike great comparisons. Have a good weekend. Just would like to say you took the place a long time ago of Saturday morning cartoons for me. Also forgot to mention about your review of the sheriff he will fit in excellent with cops and crooks..
Emgo, Deluxe Baldwin, That Toy Guy top 3 THEW, Kato’s, Tyderium Hangar, Perspective End, Jobby the Hong, Dr. Lockdown, Memo, Pocket Bot Collective, Gotbot
I think every mold that Takara Tony released after MP-28 Hod Rod are the best options as far as articulation and toon accuracy, I can't wait fore them to release a Soundwave 2.0
For reviewers personally it be like this 1)emgo, just good tutorial for a variety of stuff 2 )yourself, good vibes and variety and really good for comparison videos for stuff I'm looking at at showz 3 )deluxebaldwin, my go-to for legends since I've recently converted to them, and he has many variants of the same molds to compare 4) bobbyskullface, tells you how it is and impressive collection of 3ps 5)toysareruss, basically feel like watching your favorite uncle review rare toys in amazing conditions and general chill vibes 6) perseptiveend, hard to like at first, but everything he says comes from him, and not most other reviewers also get a bad reputation for being too harsh on figures, but there's no perfect figures without flaws 7) thattoyguy, a bit rough handed on his figures, maybe more than Bobby personally and his humor a bit so so for me but has a fellow Canadian I support his hustle and his quality in his videos 8) Memo 224 reviews, one of the channels I use for legends reviews and gets most of them before a lot of other channels 9) Tjomega, plastic addict nostalgia 10) magmotion, not really a review channel, but gets 3p stuff early with amazingly smooth animations
Inferno is one of my favorite Masterpiece and Wheeljack is really good too. Three TH-camrs I'd like to nominate is Perspective End, Bot Vs Con, and Justincredible
My collection is primarily Takara and Fans Toys. Toon accuracy is ok but it's not always the determining factor for me. Even though Skyfire looks like the cartoon, I love Fan Toys Phoenix's overall look and build in both modes better. Same with Fans Toys versions of Trailbreaker and Hoist. I'm not a collector that buys multiple versions of any character so I have to really be impressed with the factors that are most important for me to switch them out.
Bobby “Hands of Stone” Skullface is my favorite by far. You can’t trust too many people to give you an honest critical review of a toy nowadays, but he always comes through. Paik4Life and emgo316 are also great.
It's extremely hard to pick a top 3 reviewers for me because of the different styles, reviewing types (such as MP, Legends, Mainline, & others) that I watch & enjoy reviewers for...so here goes; Emgo, Deluxe, Tydirium, Skull face, Influence, Kato, Streak Shooter, Sixo, Toy Guy... I kno I have to stop somewhere but honestly, I like everyone I subscribe to...
My goto Transformer reviews are in no particular order; Bot Vs Con Bobby Skullface Streakshooter’s TF collection Tydirium Hanger Emgo316 Pretty much it 👍
My top three are the following: #1 Tydirium Hanger (good content and news), #2 TM Reviews (best transformation overview), #3 Bobby Skullface (entertainment and good comparisons).
TT hound is still my favorite although it’s a little bit flimsy. TT seekers are my choice because the look rounded and are really fantastic possible. The same goes for their Arcee, great engineering with that one. Don’t like there Hoist/trailbreaker, way to toon. I have there Ironhide, but that one is up to be replaced. Top reviewers: TMreviews (honest and does good transformation vids) Bobby Scullface (fun to watch, he’s honest and breaks stuff 😂) TFMP (he’s Dutch and a great guy: his channel can use a couple of subscribers more 😉) Emgo (only for transformations) Tyderium Hanger (Friday topics and Sunday overviews) Great video, cheers
I don't hold allegiance to any camp, so I have Takara, FT, X-Trans, Magnificent Mecha, etc. They all have good and bad, like you showed...as for fave reviewers(other than this channel)...EMGO, Thew Adams, and Prime VS. Prime.
My consistent top 3 reviewers over the years are 1. Tydirium Hanger 2. TMReviews 3. Emgo Honorable mentions, the new channel on the block Bot vs Con and the funniest reviewer Jobby the Hong
Yeah the only ones takara didn’t get beat on for look are megatron, sunstreaker, and hound. If not for the chest Arcee would have been forgivable, but really the backpack should have been detachable with a faux animation accurate backpack that you could attach. Hard to rate reviewers, I probably look forward to your videos the most, but love tmreviews, deluxe, paik, and of course Bobby Skullface - cause if Bobby doesn’t break it then I won’t.
Transformer reviewers are #3 Sony at TMReviews, #2 Henry at paik4life, and #1 Bobby Skullface. Honourable mentions, Tydirium, TMan, and George at 1980s Transformers fan.
Surprised you rank my #1 3rd party Megs, the Makeatoys Despotron, last for MP Megatron. The legs on the others all look way weird to me. It was my main Megs until Takara.
Hound was the reason I stopped buying Masterpiece. Mine stood on a shelf, untouched, untransformed, and parts just started falling off of him over time. His plastic literally disintegrated... Decided they're too expensive to risk QC issues that bad.
I heard about that; Hound disintegrating even without being touched. Sad cause he looks amazing. I wish Takara would re-release him but with better plastic.
at 8:49 - not so much a fan of 'heroic proportions,' but I'd much rather have all the vehicle modes in-scale to each other, and then let the robot modes come from that where they may. 8:58 - Sideswipe was a good figure, but I wished that his arms were more like the diaclone, having the doors hanging off them, just fold up the window. at 12:03 - I think the 3.0 seekers are a failure. Too much folding away, too much cartoon accuracy, too plain in bot mode. I'd much rather a realistic alt-mode, the diaclone color scheme and transformation and detailing, with concessions for modern articulation, and leave the vertical stabilizers out on the seekers.
Best of TT is MP 39 and MP 17. Best Reviewers are Jobby the Hong, TMreviews, Bobby Skullface, Tyderium Hanger, and That Toy Guy. Best Megatron...DX9 Mightron.
One thing I will politely disagree on is that I still think that the Takara Ironhide/Ratchet is the better design out there. Probably part of the attraction to the X-transbots version is that it's got that new car smell, so I think there's interest because of that, but the molding I think is still better on the Takara. And I base that on the fact that mine is modded. If you have the Shadow Fisher hip kit, it nails the issues that people complain about with the out of the box release of Takara's vanettes. Probably the only issue now is finding anybody who has the kits for sale (I'm working on scanning them and trying to reproduce them), but once you do the mod I think the figure becomes 10x better. Not to nitpick, but you know what I'm trying to say. Maybe straight out of the box he needs some work, but with the mod kit it's not an issue anymore. I still don't see the new version that X-transbots is coming out with is that great of a upgrade. So that's why I say this.
1. Tyderium Hangar 2. Emgo316 3. Jobby The Hong* 4. TMReviews ⚠️*I worry about Jobby. He jokes around a lot but I fear it’s to cover his sadness. He always makes “jokes” about being depressed and many times, will put MP-36 Megatron in alt-mode in his mouth to pretend to “un-alive” himself. He needs help.
I personally love the mp52, mold and own all three, definitely don't see those as a fail, and would chose them over the crimson wings, even if they were more expensive? Unpopular opinion, but I do still like my takara Ironhide+Rachet, but I get the criticism? Top 3 reviewers are,. .#1Yours truly (always look forward to your friday MP slot!) #2 TM reviews #3Emgo 4#Bobby skull face 5#Deluxe Baldwin
My reviewers that I watch for TF: 1. Bobby Skullface 2. tMreview 3. TH 4. Paik4life 5. TMan978 6. Jobby the Hong 7. Ben’s Collectable 8. Emgo 9. Deluxe Baldwin
Favorite reviewers: emgo316 and TMReviews. Slew of others, like Benscollectables, Kato's, Bot Bender Orinj, Scorched Earth Toys, Thew, and of course this channel tho I tend to think of here as the news place. I avoid Bobby Skullface for some reason. Maybe his constant complaints about lightpiping, lol
at 2:38 - Sunstreaker's when they started losing me with MPs. Too many fake parts, too many fiddly parts, and the transformation takes too long and is less like the original diaclone.
0:05 This photo shows how Takara's MP Sideswipe and Sunstreaker don't match. Their style changed too much over the years. I preferred the old style which resembled the toys more than the cartoon. I wish they had made a Sunstreaker earlier that was more toy-style. But hopefully Fanstoys make their version of the brothers soon (plus Megatron, Bumblebee, Starscream etc). Regarding Transformers reviewers, I mainly watch Bobby's videos, but there are several others. Thew is great, but he usually covers obscure/old/weird toys that I'm not interested in buying. I watch your channel mainly for news and discussions.
as shown in the last picture, Infinite transformation Megatron is slightly better then MP-36 (taller, more diecast, back cover) but since it's a KO do-over, I don't know if it counts as "beating" Takara that said: RP-01 Acoustic wave beats soundwave by Takare easily (so do all the cassettes) both fans toys and gigapower beat takara on grimlock most will agree than magic square has a better Optimus prime, I think Transform element is also better then MP-44 however, Takara's Inferno and Grapple are still better than the X-Transbots version who look too bulky to me (and I love how takara made it so the ladder/crane are folded in to the body) I think fans toys skyfire is better then takara but I agree with you on all the others.
Other reviewers? I usually go for EmGo, TM Reviews, TMan978, Bobby Skullface, & Lazy Eyebrow (but he's walking away from the review game for now). MP44 didn't need anyone to beat it, it beat itself; there's issues that are the result of dumb design decisions that even carry over to the myriad of MP44 KOs. The hip ratchets are a widely known point of failure, and even worse/more frequent in the KOs. The knee ratchet system is a very widely known point of failure that was allegedly fixed with MP49 Nemesis Prime 2.0. Trailbreaker...I went with the MP56 KO for the additional diecast. The design isn't too terrible (some design decisions DO hurt Hoist and thus Riggoras pretty badly). As for Sideswipe and Red Alert? I don't think Badcube ever did a G2 Sideswipe, so I had no reason to get either. The Skyfire wars...I was still set on the OSKO Siege Jetfire, but maybe the MP57 KO is worth considering after all. But I do know that I have MY winning choice for the Legends game: that TNT01 OSKO Iron Factory Jetfire. That thing's awesome, and it's less than half the price of both NewAge's AND Magic Square's offerings!! The MP52 mold Seekers...hoo-boy. Yes, Deformation Space kills them in robot mode. Better looks, kinda better size (even though they're not supposed to be the same size as Megatron), but the MP52s have a...less nightmarish transformation and a slightly more badass jet mode. HOWEVER, it can't be overstated enough that these SOUNDLY AND DEFINITIVELY OBLITERATE the MP11 mold and the Maketoys Seekers. Even those amazing KOs of the MP11s with the better build and fixed aspects (a longer diecast tab to hold the torso together securely in robot mode, for instance) just aren't enough to pull any kinda W from the MP52s OR the DSs.
I think that thier takara bumblebee is a big fail and when their cliffjumper comes out is a big fail..and ironhide big fail..ultra magnus another big fail..
3 reviewers I watch most not including you 3. TjOmega 2. TM reviews and Gotbot aka Dennis Moulton. I like x-transbots trailbreaker but MMC hoist best or maybe that's the other way around I forget
Once you factor in price, I'd say almost everyone beats Takara. They've become a mid level player in the game they created. Frankly I don't even think MP36 beats out any of the other Megatrons aethetically, or in terms of transformation. Yes I own it and all the others except DX9. I'll give you Sunstreaker though, I genuinely like that one. I'd say Takara Soundwave, Prowl, Wheeljack, and Sunny are all wonderful. Honestly I don't like anything else better than the 3P competition... Their seekers V3s are a joke compared to DS and even MT imo. I owned and hated Shockwave compared to C9 and FT(both of which I also owned). Honestly when I really think about it, I'm suprised they even make MPs anymore. I buy their KOs when it's a character I don't care much about, like Ironhide, Tracks, grapple, ect...
There's a lot of good transformer reviewers but PrimeVsPrime jumps to the top simply because he always seems to get everything first lol and Thew is the right amount of funny unhinged coke head energy. I'll watch several reviewers when I need help with transformations too 🤡
Deformation Space seekers beats Takara anyday Fans Toys Soundwave is the best for the moment maybe ever? Quakewave was a close second for me on Shockwave Ultra Magnus XTB beats Takara I still think Trailbreaker XTB is the best cartoon wise the FT is heroic and good I like it but for me XTB wins Badcube beats Takara I think for Sideswipe WHY DO PEOPLE HATE PARTS FORMING? Looking at the takara Iron Hide vs the XTB version why can't XTB have a panel that clips in to the side of the bot to make it look more like the Takara version? Why don't we see more of this to cover up the gaps and panels and make it look more toon? WHY are people so against parts forming It's driving me crazy why so many are against it and why they dont make extra parts just for that purpose? People seem to have forgotten about the Wei jiang Iron hide and Rachet over sized
Takara beat themselves. And here's why, they ultimate refusal for making better qc for their figures. Sun surge was garage and hound needed die-cast. Third party has defeated takara because they Care and they listen to the collectors
emgo316.... Emgo gets my number 1 due his style, transformations & introduction of transclearant plastic to my vocabulary. TMReviews PrimeVsPrime The Lazy Eyebrow Dennis Moulton AKA GotBot Soundwave 8084 Tydirium hanger

TT Grapple and Inferno is top tier Takara at their best. Not sure what happened with their direction after that
They started to go hyper articulation and more difficult transformation to create accurate toon figures with articulation if you ask me

4) bobbyskullface, tells you how it is and impressive collection of 3ps
5)toysareruss, basically feel like watching your favorite uncle review rare toys in amazing conditions and general chill vibes
6) perseptiveend, hard to like at first, but everything he says comes from him, and not most other reviewers also get a bad reputation for being too harsh on figures, but there's no perfect figures without flaws
7) thattoyguy, a bit rough handed on his figures, maybe more than Bobby personally and his humor a bit so so for me but has a fellow Canadian I support his hustle and his quality in his videos
8) Memo 224 reviews, one of the channels I use for legends reviews and gets most of them before a lot of other channels
9) Tjomega, plastic addict nostalgia
10) magmotion, not really a review channel, but gets 3p stuff early with amazingly smooth animations

⚠️*I worry about Jobby. He jokes around a lot but I fear it’s to cover his sadness. He always makes “jokes” about being depressed and many times, will put MP-36 Megatron in alt-mode in his mouth to pretend to “un-alive” himself. He needs help.
TMReviews is my favorite Transformers reviewer.
Great video as always Mike. Great to have so many options for the aesthetics that collectors may or may not want. 🫡

Just here to see how many FT figs are listed. Lol! Not a fan of super toon (to a fault) figs. 👍🏾
Hands down Emgo. and then you.
at 2:38 - Sunstreaker's when they started losing me with MPs.
I watch your channel mainly for news and discussions.
as shown in the last picture, Infinite transformation Megatron is slightly better then MP-36 (taller, more diecast, back cover) but since it's a KO do-over, I don't know if it counts as "beating" Takara
that said: RP-01 Acoustic wave beats soundwave by Takare easily (so do all the cassettes)
both fans toys and gigapower beat takara on grimlock
most will agree than magic square has a better Optimus prime, I think Transform element is also better then MP-44
however, Takara's Inferno and Grapple are still better than the X-Transbots version who look too bulky to me (and I love how takara made it so the ladder/crane are folded in to the body)
I think fans toys skyfire is better then takara
but I agree with you on all the others.
Im a big fan of Thew Adams and Rodimus Primal
In 2033.... good jab. :)
I would like to see x-transbot ironhide in bot mode
TM reviews, emgo, jobby
Inferno is a big win. Xtransbots do not come close imho.
Mp-36 Megatron is won by Takara, but i still dont like that figure.
I'll watch several reviewers when I need help with transformations too 🤡
Deformation Space seekers beats Takara anyday
Fans Toys Soundwave is the best for the moment maybe ever?
Quakewave was a close second for me on Shockwave
Ultra Magnus XTB beats Takara
I still think Trailbreaker XTB is the best cartoon wise the FT is heroic and good I like it but for me XTB wins
Badcube beats Takara I think for Sideswipe
WHY DO PEOPLE HATE PARTS FORMING?
Looking at the takara Iron Hide vs the XTB version why can't XTB have a panel that clips in to the side of the bot to make it look more like the Takara version?
Why don't we see more of this to cover up the gaps and panels and make it look more toon?
WHY are people so against parts forming It's driving me crazy why so many are against it and why they dont make extra parts just for that purpose?
People seem to have forgotten about the Wei jiang Iron hide and Rachet over sized
Fanstoys
Takara beat themselves. And here's why, they ultimate refusal for making better qc for their figures. Sun surge was garage and hound needed die-cast.
Third party has defeated takara because they Care and they listen to the collectors
emgo316.... Emgo gets my number 1 due his style, transformations & introduction of transclearant plastic to my vocabulary.
